I think you did great, and your hair looks gorgeous! I like the idea of rubbing a little on your comb, and I'll incorporate that. One addition is that I've been putting, as I think you mentioned, "just a fingernail scraping" of it on my ends daily, maybe even less. It seems to be helping with breakage on the ends. Oh, I've heard the melting point is 76F. I'm just learning too, so really appreciate your ideas. Bravo, and thanks!
I use more coconut oil than my hair needs- probably a teaspoon per side. But really, your hair will only absorb as much as it needs, so whether you use a lot or a little, you hair will always look fab. It has saved my hair from many a trim. There have been times when I would go a few weeks without oiling my hair between a washing, and been tempted to trim the icky ends, but I get back to oiling, and my ends are right as rain. And the only time my oil gets a bit liquidy is when it's really hot.
heat the solid oil gently and it will go to liquid , making it easier to use and distribute through your hair, drip it onto your parting and comb it through a friend to masage it through would be an advantage :-) melting point of coconut oil is about 25 celsius

Your hair looks gorgeus, btw! My hair doesn't poof as a result either. I get more defined waves, but I'm mostly cone free and have some hidden waves. Never heard of poof results before, except for hair that doesn't like coconut oil, but hello, yours seem to love it!
@tinti1984 - it does, doesn't it? Will definitely be oiling my hair on a regular basis I think. My hair just doesn't poof... it has no body to it at all. But at least it's shiny.
That's how much I use or leave in and my "oh my gosh my hair feels dry and tangly," cure. I just take a few tiny scrapings and spread it out on half of my hair, and then do the same with the other side. It gives somevery nice shine to braids especially. For overnight treatments I use only slightly more, m%m size chunks maybe. And coconut oil isn't supposed to be liquid, at least not the EVCO or the 100 natural ones.

I just noticed in the second part my hair looks kind of reddish... trick of the light, I'm a brunette.

@tinti1984 - Thanks, I was worrying that I'd not used enough. I just have to find an easier way of getting it out of the tub!
