Tom Morello is a legit innovator. He's fueled by his passion to play the guitar in ways no one else ever has before. The only one that's even close to him (sylistically) that comes to mind is maybe Buckethead. Slash is a TOTAL ripoff of Jimmy Page. From his choice of on-stage performance gimmicks to his sense of style and choice of guitar.... he clearly tries to be Jimmy, but fails miserable. Tom Morello has got it ALL over Slash.

It's not about how fast you can play it's about the music that you make,Tom is a very good guitarist but Slash is a legend for a reason he has created rock riffs that will last through the ages while Tom is all effects but no inspiration,I vote for Slash on this one!! Tom just blows Slash away because Tom not only just plays scales fast (ALL Slash does) he is a true artist, creating a world of sounds and playing style no one has heard before him. Slash, if anything, only pioneered the driven Marshall stack sound. Tom at least took that exhausting Marshall sound and added several sounds to spice it up. And, IMHO, Tom writes much tighter, heavier, catchier riffs than Slash. Slash has maybe one or two (covers don't count).

You can't compare the two. They're both amazing in their own ways. Tom is inovative and like no other. He makes sounds come out the guitar no one else can. Whereas Slash can play it like its meant to be played, hit the perfect notes shred and sound awesome. It depends on what sound you like. (I personally love Morello's sound =P)
