There have been many instances of military failure in the FAR and there was no case of high profile execution like this one. Pues yo creo que Ochoa y otros bajo su mando si estaba en el narcotrafico y especificamente con Pablo Escobar estaban trayendo droga a EU. DE esto hay evidencia en exceso y no proveniente de Cuba, sino de los propios narcos de Colombia. There's no relationship between Angola's military performance and Ochoa's execution. There have been many instances of military failure in the FAR and there was no case of high profile execution like this one. Ochoa was killed because Castro suspected he was plotting to overthrow him. Ochoa was a pro-perestroika general, very popular among the ranks and about to take charge of the Western Army (another proof that Angola didn't affect him). Too much power in his hands for a paranoid like Castro

There would have been interesting implications:
1) SA would only used the threat using the nukes, not even the CIA knew for sure whether SA had them. (this is according to FOIA docs)So neither did SWAPO or ANC
2) lets say SA did parade the nukes, other African countries would have an excuse to build their own. (Libya was trying) This would have changed the african continent in the eyes of the west.
3) SADF generals were also frustrated that the strategic value of the nuke was realised.

His relationship with the Russians was not good in the eyes of the revolution. At that time Gorbachev was taking control and he had other ideas for the third world countries. Sanchez, was seeing it through the same eyes as the Russians and this was a very bad thing in the revolutions eyes. Ochoa had different ideas and also have said things that Castro did not like.

This is so true I can say that he could not do his duty in Angola to the satisfaction of the revolutionary Armed forces, expected of him. His leader Castro expected him to fufill duty`s that was impossible against the SADF. He had to retreat from the onslaught of the SADF and was punched back to Cuito. Castro did not like this at all. Ochoa was trying to tell this to Castro but he was adamant on this and ordered him to stand his ground now if you disobey orders from the Castro its treason.
