  • I had never heard of Gavin DeGraw until I saw this video a couple years ago but as a result, went a bought his music. Too bad about them pulling the music but it is still an excellent compilation of techniques!!!!

  • very nice- with or without the song (their loss!) Thank you!

  • This is so crazy, I made this video and sent a letter to Gavin DeGraw's management for permission to use the song. They replied that I could as long as it was not for commercial use. People have actually been introduced to his music through this video, as you can see several have asked who it is...yet, they have now taken it away...Gavin, you need new management!

  • thief

  • JODER guaii el videoo :)

    xD

    JODOOO

  • Wow very good judo video!Great!

  • This is an excellent judo video!!! Youtube are fucking wankers for disabling the sound though.

  • holy crap, this is some of the best judo i done er saw...the combos are so clever and intricate...if you watch slow enough you can learn

  • Interesting variations to some techniques, I might just use them.

  • Kickass techniques.... Not as kickass music.

  • judo 4 life its changed me alot in all aspects off my life =]

  • dfgd

  • YES! judo in a wheat field XD

    nice vid.

  • but ITS NOT A MATTER OF BELT I DONT CARE ABOUT THE BELT my skills not base on belt that was STUPID I DONT PLAY JUDO FOR POPULAR I TRAIN TO JOIN IN OLYMPICS! lol

  • yeah i agree someone say about d minimum wht age to promote black belt his a kid LOL!here in my country we promoted by winning by tournament or excelent performance.... :( i really work hard JOINING TOURNAMENT for my black belt i got my black belt at age 19 :( thats not fun!

  • i think part of the reasoning for the minimum age is the question of maturity. i am not saying anything about your maturity. but these arts are potentially deadly and you dont want a kid to use them irresponsibly

  • Very nice video!! It gives a good impression of the judo sport!!!

    Thanks man!!

    Great Video!!!

  • Nice moves and video...but what is the helicopter about?

  • can i ask whats the name of the song in the video?

  • me and s0th do that at school for the class judo :D

  • omg what a great video....so nice technics....so nice music.....big THX!

  • thank you very much for this video is Very beautiful

  • How old is the kid on the right when you are walking through the field?

Did you just get him to put on a black belt for the vid or is he actually that good?

  • I don't think they would just put a black belt on someone. The minimum age for black belt in Canada is 17. Dunno about the US. Great video!

  • It is a brown belt, not black...he is 14 and finished 4th in the Jr. US Open a couple years ago. Very good competitor and great young man.

  • je penser le video est tres bien! Le musique est mal ...

i think this video is very good, the music is bad. doesn't fit judo well.

  • I can do half of this too. Hurting and stuff ...

  • I would love a copy of this!!!

  • ta chidillo el video porlas tecnicas para algien que legusta el judo

    _:_:;MM;:_::;M_:==)(

  • nice vid

  • good video, i can see that u put alot of hard work ito this video. however, i reckon it was kind of stupid to put an American flag in the video, instead you should have put a Japanese flag on it because it IS a japanese martial art. AND WTF IS WITH THE BUDHA???? seriously, judo and budha have nothing to do with eachover

  • soth340 is right.... i think it is a GREAT video, but the flag and the budha... no.

I also want to mention the very good techniques!

    GOOD JOB!

  • Guys you are great. The Judo is fantastic. Thank you very much for the video.

  • io faccio judo e ste tecniche anche se sembrano chissa cosa sono delle cavolate...si impara infretta

  • this video is awesome!! iv been looking for a place to take judo for about 3 years and cant find a place. I live in Maryland, if anyone can tell me a good place to learn judo in maryland it would be greatly appreciated.

  • what song is used in this video? hoping for a quick responce I really like the song... Judo Rules,I'm 5th in serbia and montenegro (73 Kg)

  • yeah its "i dont wanna be" by Gavin DeGraw

  • Thanks. . . Sorry but I don't know how to help you with your problem with a place to take judo. . .

  • yeah no problem....if u wanna find music try to go on google and just type in lyrics that u think might be the title of the song... thats what i did for this song and i found it in about three minutes

  • nice combo 1.48:) a++

  • thanks for the interest and promote judo where ever you are, however you can

  • The wheatfields symbolize our location, the heartland, know for its vast wheatfields. We will be recording a new video soon, judo and BJJ combination

  • In answer to some questions: this video was inspired by the Kiyoto University Judo video, which was a great video. It made me want to promote judo here in the US, hence the flag. Other images are in respect of the foundations of judo. The helicopter...it was available

  • Nice video. I look forward to the next one.

  • hello , i'm practical the jujitsu and aïkido !!

    bye ( i'm frensh )

  • i love judo, and i know moust of the techniques that they just showed lool

  • One of the greatest judo videos I ever saw. Incredible combination techniques... The kataguruma from ouchgari fake is incredible... to say the least.

  • THANK GOD FOR JUDO!!!!!

  • kick ass judo m vid

  • nice :D you two is a good Judo players :D

  • very good taio-otoshi at 15 secs

  • its the black crowes.... besides... but Judo ... truly beautiful and practical art.

  • someone knows whats the name of the song on the background?

  • It's "I Don't Want to Be" by Gavin DeGraw. It is best known as the theme song for One Tree Hill.

  • I love the Uranage at 0:16 and the Uchimata-Jujigatame at 1:45.That Juji is just so cool

  • love judo, and allways will. But i got unlucky, and got hurt, and now i havw back problem, and if i would still train judo, next thing i would be doing is sitting in weelcheer :/ PS great VD:)

  • Nomally judo is taught as a sport rather than a form of self defence (though traditional judo does have excellent SD techniques). This doesnt mean judo taining wouldnt help. But generally try not to worry too much about which martial art is best in a street fight, because ultimately numbers, weapons and luck are all too important in real fights. Better to do a martial at because you enjoy it rather than to improve your street cred.

  • i love this video they are lot of interesting actions

  • Does judo have a non-gi version? From the vid, it looks like most of their throws wouldnt work without the jackets.

  • many throws have no-gi versions. For example Osoto Gari (the first throw in the vid) can be done by pushing up on the chin to take the balance back. There are many other variations of Osoto gari and most other throws. However, you probably wouldn't learn them at a kodokan judo dojo, you'd have to study self defense Jujitsu.

  • I have some Gracie Jiu Jitsu video and they have the hip throw, but in my opinion Judo too hard to work in real enviroment, and the throws are not that rewarding unless you are fighting on concrete floor. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu relies on clinching to ground transition, tackle, and throws. Judo is more of a sport where Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is more hardcore. Judo still has good techniques don't get me wrong. By no means a BJJ will convincingly beat a Judo guy unless he is better skilled.

  • ur a retard..in real life ppl wear clothes..thats why judo guys are prepared and know how to throw..yeah jiu jitsu guys are good ground guys but u have to get the judo guy down. In the history of judo vs jui jitsu..ju jitsu goes for doulble legs or take card righyt away...and most jui jitsu forget about stand up grappling

  • haha, why do you think judo literally means "the gentle way". but i think it's more of a case of the 3 "s"'s. Skill, strength, & stamina...skratch that, make it 4: speed. ^ ^

but i love that armbar they did in the beginnging of the clip!

  • Particularly from the guard position.

  • Brazilian Jiu Jitsu isn't that much different from regular Jiu Jitsu either. I don't know where you get that. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is advanced Jiu Jitsu. It was created to develop techniques on how a smaller opponent can defeat a larger opponent.

  • Jiu Jitsu territory is the ground. Joint locks is the main thing in Jiu Jitsu applying pressure against the weakest link in the human anatomy. Judo has more throws, and focuses more on stand up grappling. Jiu Jitsu is mostly all ground grappling.

  • It's not so much a leg throw, but really a leg trip.

  • Judo has more throws where Jiu Jitsu is mostly ground fighting. The objective of a Jiu Jitsu guy is to get you to the ground with a tackle of some sort, or a leg throw, but really doesn't focus on throws. He will also get you on the floor by getting you in his guard.

  • wat the hell is up with the american flag & wheat field lolz? this looks like redneck judo lmao but seriously those were decent throws

  • Lol @ US flags :D. Otherwise, great sport

  • I kinda prefer jujitsu cuz u can really own someone AND hurt em at the same time, whereas judo is a more grappling kind of sport-better for subduing someone I guess. But my dad does judo, and he's teaching me some really interesting stuff about it. I reckon everyone should do it at some point, for self defence. Good vid.

  • lol nice vid , nice moves inspired me to take up judo , but i wont. the wheatfeild where all good till like 8 of use walked thru them LMFAO! and that whole chopper scene was bad looked like u wanted us to see it o.0 ,did U ?

  • YES! FOR ONCE! NO GHETTO TALK

  • shotokan is a style of karate! NOT judo...perhaps you are referring to the KODAKAN? Learn your terms!

  • this is gay.

    the video i mean.

  • very nice technique

  • love judo

  • nice video but since when was judo us?? :O

  • Hey, awesome video of some of my friends from Windsong Dojo out in OKC!

  • u idoit u think shoto-kan is for noobs u r the noob shoto-kan was used in wars and wen they used stikes as wepons in the highr levl ther is imposible moves shoto-kan is acent is its own style

  • I now know the name of the song..so you dont have to post it. Thanks to all who sendt me messages ;-)

  • Cool Video! But do anyone know the name of the song ?? Either post it here, or mail it to me in a personal message..

    Thanks

  • that is the gayest music i have ever heard, so i assume the obvious

  • mhh... wrong music

  • i have a small judo influence in my styles... judo is a very powerful style but has the natural flow imbedded in it's workings... its NOT childsplay... so n00bs and amateurs start EZ like boxing or Shoto-Kan

  • JUDO means "flexibility path". JU is flexibility and DO is path. It's an awesome martial art, the only one recomended by UNESCO for children to practise.

  • wrong

judo means gentle way, Ju meaning gentle or effortless, Do meaning way not path thats different.

  • Nice Throws, but I liked the throw and submission combo's. I hated the Bhudda!

  • NICE ONE

  • the song is I don't wanna be - Davin Degraw

    take care brother

  • gavin degraw

  • cool video... would anyone be kind enough to tell me what song is being played?

  • Nice video... well done.

  • pretty cool vid, but whats with the chopper?

  • pretty cool vid, but whats with the copper?

  • Yea uh.. thats all judo.

    plain and simple.

  • whats that though after the arm lock and osotogri i want to use it myself!

  • t's a Dropping Kata Garuma in to Kesa Gatame!! Works really well!

  • thank you very much! i have nationals in 3 days might use it

  • Great judo. The cutscenes ruined the whole effort, though. Wheat fields? Kanji signs? Who cares about that stuff?

  • Long story short it all originated from Japan. Not from Brazil. If you ask me BJJ is judo or japanese JJ forgeting how to do throws....but in the end of the day its all Japanese. They decided to spread the good sportsmanship across the globe and not try to turn it into a barbaric ass kicking toughguy contest

  • wow, nice throws!

  • You can win a number of ways. Here's a brief non-technical overview.

You can win with a throw. Throws are judged on speed, power, and technique.

You can win by pinning and controlling your opponent for 30 seconds.

A throw that lacks in one of the three criteria combined with a pin and control for 25 seconds.

Submission. Chokes and armlocks are legal.

    Your opponent loses consciousness.

    Judges' decision.

  • thanks

  • could someone tell me how judo competitions are won?

  • Judo Competitions are won by one person throwing another onto their back. This gives them a full point. You need a full point to win.

if the person lands on their side or something other than their back you can either get a half point, a quarter point and so on. They add up until you get a full point.

if the person thrown doesnt land on their back, you go into mat work. Depending on rank and age, you can do chokes and arm bars. You can also do roll overs and other techniques.

  • Either by a throw (one that lands the opponent flat on his back with control ends the match immediately, weaker throws give scores), a pin (held for twenty-five seconds; if the opponent escapes before that, you get a score depending on the length of the pin) or by an armlock or choke.

  • Chuik's right. It's Jujigatame and originates from Judo and Jigoro who used various principles of other various jj's to make it but few other skools had it or something. Either way, while a lot of techniques and basic principles of BJJ are new and unique to it, other basic principles and techniques come straight from Judo or slightly modified by the gracies. This is jujigatame... but then again I've never seen a crusifix or some of those others.

  • It's no surprise every traditional JJ institution & affiliates now claim "Oh! we've always used those specific finishes"

Look at the "Gracie in action" video footage and see them tool TRADITIONAL JJ guys who don't know an arm-bar escape from a full mount sweep!

  • "Look at the "Gracie in action" video footage"

What has that got to do with the source of the original Jujitsu techniques? Go look it up on the Gracie website -- they seem to think that their style was developed from Judo & Jujitsu even if you don't. They are not reinventing the wheel, they just perfected the application of the original techniques.

  • actualy you are idiot... and don't know about shit about JJ..

there were many different styles of JJ in japan 1900A.C

some were weapon based and some hand based... and when I mean hand based I mean kicking, punching, and grappling.. so If one school was more in standup and weapons then it means JiuJitsu is shit??? are you idiot ??

  • marcusorilius- That video is a joke, made long after Carlos & Helio incorporated their unique technique.

Just because that vid's in black & white doesn't mean sh1t.

BTW the definition in that film is fairly modern, contradicting it's ancient mystique which easily fools awe-struck Jits newbies like yourself.

  • "made long after Carlos & Helio incorporated their unique technique"

That was an EXAMPLE video of traditional Japanese Jujitsu. You think that the Japanese would add techniques to their traditional style that foreigners recently developed? You obviously don't know the Japanese very well...

You need to think about the politics of them doing something like that instead of commenting on the age of the video.

  • Cool video.

  • Actually, traditional Jujitsu didn't utilize the armbarr technique displayed in that video until the Gracie's modified it.

  • "traditional Jujitsu didn't utilize the armbarr technique displayed in that video until the Gracie's modified it"

The Japanese have been doing that technique a long time before the Gracie's were around.

Search "Ju jutusu tradicional" and watch the armbar at the 1min 20sec mark.

  • sorry mate, that's not true, it's called juji gatame. The difference between GJJ and Judo is in the approach to grappling and rules of the sport, not the techniques. The only other difference is in the cost of learning :p

  • What a fag, He used a BJJ arm bar

  • "What a fag, He used a BJJ arm bar"

Actually, he used a Jujitsu arm bar. Japanese Jujitsu is the source that both BJJ and Judo came from.

  • Ah, touche.

  • I believe the armlock you are looking at is ude-hishigi-juji-gatame. It is in Jigoro Kano's original collection of techniques. It is probable that it originated from Jujutsu because this was the sport Judo was a development of. Jujutsu should not be confused with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. However, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a further develpment of Jujutsu and Judo. So, it is undestandable that it shares many techniques that either are similar or appear similar.

  • Otimo video me ajudou muito em alguns golpes.

  • great video, but the helicopter at the end really kinda killed the mood.

  • Nice barefoot judo!

  • hmmm, what IS the helicopter for? And why must these clips have music on them? I want to hear the judo!

  • I agree. Perhaps a litte background-music (but a litte faster). And dont delete the original sound!

  • Good Uki =p, Great Video, Nice Throws, and arm bars.

  • excelent video :)

the helicopter at the end is out of place, but the whole video is great, and the song is good too (nice to see a good video without crappy music on it)

  • HAHA! Nice video, but whats with all the 'Gladiator' shots of hands over the wheatfields?

  • Cette vidéo est vraiment géniale!

    Bravo!

  • great takedowns

  • judos pretty cool

  • great clip, with nice combos. Too bad the link at the end (www.okcdt.com) did not work for me. Thank you for sharing
