'The Mark of the Rani' was IMO such an excellent story. And it was glorious seeing her completely take the mickey out of the Master. It's a pity everything she was in after that was poorly done. Very interesting villain, amoral rather than immoral

Evil Woman by E.L.O.?! Brilliant!!! Man, the Rani was Smokin HOT, & I agree, Claudia Black would make an excellent Rani. A sexy timelord--How cool is THAT!? I missed the episode after McCoy took over as the Doctor...I was busy elsewhere in my life. I like Rani's Timelordian outfit, futuristic and (dare I use such an anachronism??Oh, what the HEY, go for it!) F.O.X.Y.!!

Gilliam Anderson as the Rani! So long as the moronic writers don't have that mega creepy River Song turn out to be the Rani! The less of that character the better! There are too many parallels between River Song and the Rani for them not to be the same person. The Doctor's missed Gallifreyans before--he didn't know Jenny was a Time Lady til Donna checked for her heartbeat. He's missed this one too. If she's not the Rani I'd LOVE to know why.

And since it's been pretty much established that river song is NOT a time lord nor is she the Dr's wife I might actually start to like the character. Moffat is still an airheaded loser. Everytime he talks it makes my flesh crawl. He is so full of himself. Moffat hates the time lords and refuses to bring any of them back. I can't wait till he leaves.

Hi everyone! Ok, let me dispel a few rumours: 1.) no, the Rani is not slated to appear in next season.

2.) When she heard all these rumours Kate Omara did call the BBC and ask to reprise her role. She was told thank you but no.

3.) When Amy Winehouse was asked if she had been asked to be on Doctor Who she replied "F*ck Doctor Who and all that stupid sh*t"

4.) Paul McGann will make an appearance as the 8th Doctor in one of the specials this year.

She has a diabolical plan to control evolution, but before she can carry out her nefarious deeds, she traps all of the Doctor's incarnations and various companions in a time loop that has all of them jumping time from 1973 to 1993 to 2013, all the while interacting with the cast of EastEnders. :)

Yes, if done correctly the Rani could be an interesting character in the new series. Lets assume she's regenerated into a young pretty girl. Have her and the doctor physically attracted to each other, but on opposite sides. That makes things complicated. The old Rani (Kate) actually had a pretty nice body in her time.

Martha was told to open the fob watch by the doctor in Family of Blood so I doub there's any chance of the essence entering anyone but the original vessel. But if the vessel were dead it might do the body possession thing - the master did that as well.

Good news Rani fans ! .

The Rani is coming back to Doctor Who ! , Todays News of the World says the character is to be played by Joan Collins , she has signed up to play the part . She will fight David's Doctor throughtout series four next year so she could be next years ultimate villianess ! , incase your wondering how can she return , well , old Russell and co could do the same thing with the Master , make her HUMAN ! , but we will just have to wait and see next year .

I souppose the woman we see with her own Sonic Screwdriver isint really the Rani at all then , then again , if you remember in Smith and Jones when the Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver got destroyed when facing that Plamavore , perhaps someone recovered it and she designed her own one based on the remains of the Original Series 1 to 2 Sonic Screwdriver , it's just a thought , but who knows !!!! .
