I was right across the street when they took this down. It shook the Days Inn so hard and was very loud. Who knew 9/11 would happen a few months later 'o(. 2001 I'll never forget that year. I lost my father, Aaliyah died next, MSA was blown up to make a parking lot, and 9/11 WOW......
what a miserable structure, material and architecture.shopping is the golden rule and build, sell things only, under the law of obsolent.world these days.
@isitin Seriously only 25 years? Most of these buildings are designed for about a 50 year life span. Why demo this so soon? i wonder what type of politics were behind this move.
I saw my very first concert here.... but it wasn't Elvis ... it was Ronnie James Dio... in fact i saw all my concerts here(MSA).... except Ozzfest "99"...it was at Deer Creek ...sad to see it go !!!!!!!
Incorrect. Racers always played MSA. It was the minor league teams that came and went that would use the fairgrounds arena. I think the teams found better dates and lower rent at the fairgrounds when compared to MSA.
I tend to disagree with you. I saw the racers at fairgrounds. Please don't make me have to dig thru my ticket stubs. As we both can probably agree on is we both miss those days....
@iammetfan Racers in the 70's played games at MSA. It was part of the reason MSA was built, mainly for the Pacers but the upstart Racers filled dates for the "new" arena. The Checkers (80s) played mostly at Fairgrounds Coliseum and later on MSA when attendance spiked. I miss MSA but happy we still have the Coliseum.
I liked MSA too, but I remembered those nosebleed seats on the sides.....they went up up up up up. Horrible. And for a concert those seats were worthless, except for a second-hand dope high. No one needs to see Foghat that badly!
Yes I agree and the new lucas oil stadium downtown wasnt the brightest idea either. They will play for a couple years in the new stadium and then want another one.
The last concert I went to at MSA was Korn I think for the Family Values Tour and I think it was the last concert at MSA.
I meant to go to the demo but it was too early on a Saturday so I had to weigh sleep vs. a major demolition of one of my favorite places to see a concert.

MSA was not a bad venue for basketball and concerts. Much better than that oversized Taco Bell bathroom that replaced it.
