  • what formats can this export or save to?

  • @CaptainWicker It's been a while since I looked at it, but along with it's own format, I'm sure it supports a straight export of raw data, so just a float value for each vertex, very easy to load terrains into your own engine. It also supports heightmap export and import. It would be possible to export the terrain as 3D meshes in DirectX format as well, but I haven't done that... was planning on making a converter program for FPSC users.

  • @stunthumb How do I export to heightmap bmp file? Does the Ter file load into DBPro?

  • @CaptainWicker You can export to a bitmap by selecting Export HMap from the Import/Export menu. It'll save a 512x512 heightmap image. .TER files can be loaded using one of the supplied examples for DBPro. There are some issues with the latest version of DBPro though, still haven't investigated it.

  • how do u change the size of the brush?

  • @TheMonster717 If memory serves, you use the number keys to set the brush size, 1 for the smallest brush etc.

  • @stunthumb thank you very much great editor by the way you should add the ability to add trees or something like that

  • @TheMonster717 Thanks :D. Yeah, the plan was to make it into a full blown level editor, but the trouble is finding the time. I was working on a new version that allows the terrain to be painted any colour, which is pretty cool and would be nice for lighting. I want to support the DBPro terrain plugin BlitzTerrain as well. Hopefully I'll get back to it.

  • This looks good. I will look into ways to use it with FPSC!

  • Amazing! And thanks for sharing:)

  • download link please?

  • Thanks for releasing this man, its really good

  • you can download it on the game creators website I'm using it for my RPG Exiled

  • Will this work for fpsc?

  • I haven't tried, but I will look into it. It should be possible to export the terrain as a mesh, the only concern would be the shader it needs.

  • It looks realy good anyway

  • will this work for dark gdk?

  • Hi, sorry I missed you comment.

There's no real reason why the terrain engine wouldn't work in GDK, but the thing is that GDK could do a much better job of the terrain moulding. In DBPro I use a couple of methods to show how to use it in an engine, but the bones of it is just mesh deformation to suit a heightmap, and some textures and a shader.

When I get the time I plan to look into it, or find a GDK partner to help convert it.

  • FAR CRY 2? they use the same terrain editor, atleast the ground raising part

  • Yeah, I think the first FarCry game on the 360 inspired the way it works a lot, very easy to use and very quick for making terrains.

I really like making maps for FarCry2, just a shame it's so tough to get people to play them!

  • yeah, they need to advertise it, you got live?

  • The song is called Last Kiss, it's on the 'Into the Wild' soundtrack which Eddie did. It's a great album, lots of really chilled out songs, check out 'You've got to hide your love away' too.

Version 2 is underway, 1 less texture but you can paint colour directly onto the terrain now, should make for some cool lightmaps and blood spatters. Object placement is being added as well.

    Thanks for the comments guys.

  • I really like this song. What Pearl Jam song is this? The level editor is neat too.

  • Wow this is really really cool! I love the texturing most of all, it really makes terrain more realistic.

  • It reminds me of the editor in simcity 4. Nice work!

  • Totally awesome editor.
