well I have this camera and had it for a while and until just recently found out they improved this with a new firmware update you can find it by just searching zi6 firmware 1.11 download in a search engine
mine does tht same thing the i read a description on the video camra and it said the video camra was made for out doors. so this cmara prob isnt made for indoors mine has the same issue
I own a Zi6 and I've found that if I use a SD card I get dropped frames, if I use a cheapo SDHC card I get dropped frames, however if I use a slightly more expensive SDHC card I get good results.
Right now I'm using a PNY SDHC Optima card, and it works for me.
No,it's not dropped frames. It's an auto slow shutter that activates incorrectly. It slows down the shutter when it sees something dark colored, not low light. The camera was basically racist . It's messed up.Thank fully the Zi8 fixes this.
seems like the camera is dropping the shutter speed automatically when there are darker areas,. as you might know slower shutter speed means more light into the sensor better colors but blury movements. see if the camera has any option/definition that slows shutter speed when light is low.
Also the Zi6 is the only one that record on HD 60fps, the Mino and Vado only record on 30fps. HD 60fps looks smoother and better but you need a GOOD computer to enjoy them.
Look, i've been working with camcorders since the age of 8, i know my stuff. No matter the computer, TV, RAM, frame rate, the video will look rerky in dark areas.
My videos looks jerky like that sometimes in MY COMPUTER, but in my cousin quadcore computer they run very smooth like they should, when you connect the camera to the TV does it do the same thing? at least on mine doesnt. You dont need that much RAM to play HD videos, what you need is a good processor to process the video and a good video card also helps, my dell laptop doesnt even play my Zi6 videos and it has 2GB ram, but processor is slow.
Wow....really? I had no clue.....*sarcasm* Yes that's obvious, but the problem is that it switches to a super slow frame rate in even normal lighting, like a living room, where every other cam i have gives normal video.
What editor are you using? Some require lots of RAM to process correctly. I've got a video on my page you should look at. I use Sony Vegas quite a bit, but unfortunately it doesnt do well converting the .mov formats so I am using Adobe Premier for editing. I've got 8 gigs of ram and two high end video cards running in SLI mode, but I really dont think you need that much...just a fast processor and 4gigs of ram should be sufficient.
It has nothing to do with RAM, etc, as it's the same on youtube too. The Zi6 is confirmed to have an auto slow shutter mode that you can't turn off and it goes into this mode at random moments. I have 8Gbs of RAM
lol no I'm not! I just got it today! And I'm loving it. Low light isn't wonderful, but it doesnt have the Zi6's crappy shutter thing. I have many proffesional HDV camcorder, my favorite being my HDR-HC9 from Sony. The WH1 is just my pocket camcorder for everyday stuff with friends. Everything else important will be with my HC9. Look for my unboxing video soon.
UPDATE: This little issue just drived me crazy. My digital cameras that shoot video do better in low light, or with dark objects, like my DSC-T700. And it's standard definition. I gave the Zi6 to my little sister. She's lovin' it. I now ordered the Sanyo VPC-WH1 underwater camcorder. Will do reviews and unboxing.
No....the FlipMinoHD sucks. No removeable battery, and no removeable expandable memory. Makes it useless for me. I gave the Zi6 to my sister and got myself the Sanyo VPC-WH1
Um.....no. Wrong. This happens in any mode. HD, HD60, and VGA. As it gets even slightly not super bright, this will happen in any mode. I have the camera to my sister.
when you film in a darkly lit area the camera will automatically turn down the shutter speed to compensate for the low light. Hope I helped! And its not a problem, all cameras will do this, you just need good lighting.
No, which is why I'm upset. Even in normally lit places, it does that. And sometimes it's smooth and then SUDDENLY it switches to jerky video, but no improvement in quality. As in no difference. I hope Kodak makes a firmwire update! Maybe at least a menu setting that lets u manually turn it off. Not all cameras do this.

Video is FINE until you get DARK AREAS. it;s jerky on TV and the camera too. Has nothing to do with the computer.
9ALLEN9 2 years ago
Its because of the low light.

Update your firmware to 1.11, The low light issue gets slightly better. On my channel there is a sample of the new firmware.

Why?
themanthatrocks985 2 years ago
Can't edit it, cant do shit with it..

Because of the video format? Why?
themanthatrocks985 2 years ago
I called sanyo, they didnt even tell me why. Sanyo support is rude, and its time consuming, they put me on hold for 40 minutes total.

Yeah mine gets jumpy with light changes or even large dark objects. It seems to film moving objects best when it's stationary or moving very slowly.

i kow whats wrong youre using HD60 and for youtbe you need to use Hd mode
Wazoy 2 years ago
That doesn't make any sense. HD60 IS HD mode. If it isn't, what is HD mode ?

send it back. it has a 3 month g was they replace if your not happy. mine is fine and not had any probs so far
dangerousffc 3 years ago
Wait, so yours does NOT do this in so-so lighted situations?
9ALLEN9 3 years ago
when you film in a darkly lit area the camera will automatically turn down the shutter speed to compensate for the low light. Hope I helped! And its not a problem, all cameras will do this, you just need good lighting.
Jashan17 3 years ago
Well...i understand that cameras do that, but the Zi6 can do it even in good lightning conditions. Thanks for the advice!
9ALLEN9 3 years ago
is there any way that you can manually set the exposure or shutter?
Jashan17 3 years ago
No, which is why I'm upset. Even in normally lit places, it does that. And sometimes it's smooth and then SUDDENLY it switches to jerky video, but no improvement in quality. As in no difference. ahh, sucks. look through some forums maybe?

Also, there's no audio FYI, i was silent. Notice how it switches from 60/30fps to randomly to 15fps.....i dunno whats wrong
