another metaphor I noticed is at 2:58 false teaching is very evident (globbered dye) and that is the PERFECT time to, by apologetics and reasoning, cast out false teachers. As soon as we start listening to their theologies and giving them more "air time", then we allow them to spread out in the clear water of the jar (the true church). False teaching needs to be handled ASAP and can only be handled when the other part of the church is totally clear as well!
You know you got me thinking about this. You are right, the church is for BELIEVERS. We are each told to go out and proclaim the message of salvation. So if we were all doing our jobs and sharing the Truth with our family and friends, then the church wouldn't have to reach out to unbelievers.
I am an extremely perceptive person (not always a good thing, mind you), and every church that I have ever stepped foot in, regardless of denomination, emits a sense of phony-ness to me. I have YET to feel comfortable in any church, and I have been on this earth for 42 yrs. I believe most folks wear masks in church-- they go through the motions, drop a buck in the collection basket, sing a hymn or two -- then the minute they leave, they forget about God completely. I stay away from church now
@ I see that you are a troll but I want to answer this for any sincere person who sees it. YHVH forbids marking, cutting, or shaving yourself "for the dead" (Lev.19:27-28, Deut.14:1). This was a pagan practice seen throughout the Bible in example after example & still seen in our society today when one is in grief. This does not mean one cannot shave or cut their hair since this is also an instruction in the law in other circumstances.
hetgow, blessed are you when men revile you (Mat.5:11). :)
@XTsamurai Understood, my brother. :) I didn't have room to keep the person's name in that I was responding to. I don't like to see my brothers attacked and felt the need to speak up.
If a church wants to attract new people especially the unsaved or the unchurched then they all should be seeker friendly. I dont see the cross of jesus as offensive but pressure to join overcommit or tythe is a major turn off. The music is AWESOME IN THESE CHURCHES. IF THE PASTOR IS FUNNY AND PEOPLE ARENT TOO JUDGMENTAL THEN I WILL GO. FORMER ATHEIST NOW ATTENDING BIBLE COLLEGE IN HENDERSON NEVADA.
@brianwelchisaphony You don't see the cross of Christ as offensive? Mt10:34-37 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth...but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.-It's the most devisive.
Wow, that was awesome! I was thinking of doing something similar to this for my site, but yours is so much better! We have recently left an "emerging" church and are having a hard time finding a new church that isn't exactly like this. Thanks for making this illustration video. It makes it so easy that even a caveman can understand it. lol
Truly this is an eye opener. Thie video brings so much conviction from the Holy Spirit!! REPENTANCE & Seeking the face of GOD must be preach! All Born-Again in YESHUA HA'MASHIACH in tune to the voice of the HOLY SPIRIT must have a sense of Urgency sharing the Gospel, we are living in the LAST DAYS & Stop Playing church!! This teaches me to be more AGRESSIVE in sharing YESHUA HA'MACHIACH with much Boldness and without Compromise!! -Dan C (Michigan, USA)
That why I agree with Paul when he said to the Corinthians in I Corinthians 2;2....."for I was resolved to know nothing except Jesus Christ and Him crucified." ---- I think we are on the same page, biblically and spiritually, I just urge you to be careful how you word things and make sure you are very clear so that YOU do not confuse someone or lead them astray from God's perfect will....In Him, Chris.
I agree completely, but you need to re-watch your own video, but only once...maybe twice in the video do you say "a lot"...most of the time you just say "modern churches". You need to make sure when you are condemning churches that you are very clear on your discernment. I am 100% in agreement in that we should not stray from God's Word, but there is a lot of room for interpretation and different levels of maturity in our understanding of God's Word.
You seem to be lumping all modern churches together. Just because you are trying to be relevant as a church and reach unbelievers does not mean you can't do that while at the same time remaining biblically accurate in equiping the saints, praying , etc.. You seem to say that being current and modern and being biblically accurate are mutually exclusive. Show me proof of this. When Jesus came, he went to the sinners to reach them. He said he did not come for the righteous but for the sinners.
No I am not lumping them all together - plz watch again & listen carefully.
Being current & modern are not wrong unless it goes against scripture, which is what a lot of emergent churches are doing (notice I said 'a lot' & not 'all').
BTW if u read scripture in context u would see Jesus came to the sinners yes, but never did He stray from the word of God; never did He do His will but the will of the Father.
Heaven & earth will pass away but only Jesus and His world will remain.
What is actually happening in these times, of course, is that education and reason are FINALLY making religion redundant. More than redundant, really, obsolete and harmful are more accurate. YHWH was invented by bronze-age desert-dwellers who were ignorant and afraid of the dark. Now we know that eclipses and storms and disease are not caused by invisible sky-dwellers. Education destroys religion. Every time. And it's time.
1 Peter 4:17 For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 Now If the righteous one is scarcely saved, Where will the ungodly and the sinner appear? 19 Therefore let those who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls to Him in doing good, as to a faithful Creator
The ministry is the same. To teach Christ crucified. He came in the flesh, born of a virgin, died on the cross for remission of our sins, rose again the third day, seen by more than 500 and ascended to the right hand of the Father and in like many will return. He was God in the flesh.
If you are not teaching and preaching this then there is something wrong.
Oh by the way is that tattoo a good idea seeing as scarification and self mutilation is considered an abomination to God. Or did you repent and promise never to get another tattoo? Or perhaps the true church doesn't really have a policy on tattoos?
I see, your looking at my past & judging me, that I'm not forgiven now. Ummm... its so easy to look at the outside but how about the condition of your heart? Thats what counts.
Ever lied, stolen, blasphemed God, lusted/committed adultery or dishonored your parents, loved someone/something more than God lately? Do you do these things over & over? Thats much worse than my old tatt which was over & done with long ago.
Ask God to open your heart & read His word, thats a good place to start.
Sorry for my tone. I'm not at all judging you. I'm fine with tattoos and I personally believe it is spiritually irrelevant. it's as you say the "condition of your heart" that matters Mrk 7:15-23.
Lately? no (not in my judgment) Ever? YES. However I have been told sin is sin. All equal. And they quote scripture to back it up. What makes one sin worse?
Now you are judging me. How do you know I haven't asked God to open my heart or read his word? I have.
no, its just that a lot people judge me by an old tatt yet they forget to look inside toward their hidden sins.
I'm not judging you, but just reminding that there is more to life than some old ink. Its about the Holy Spirit convicting us of our sin, where we then fall down before Jesus, repent and ask for His forgiveness.
Wow that sounds so wonderful. Where can I find this church. Because there are about 10 different Christian denominations in my area that say their teaching is the true teaching and they can quote just as many scriptures as you.
Man I wish it was that clear! It's not. For every scripture I have supporting my beliefs another "bible believer" is always there to shoot me down with a contrary scripture. The bible contains so much that it's often contradictory. And therefor requires biblical gymnastics in order to keep the bible infallible.
Well, first of all, God says "Let there be light." and there is light. He does not need a star to produce light, think about it. Whatever He says, is. Whatever He says, goes. About the slavery thing, I can't really explain it to you (partly because I don't know it a lot about it) but slavery 200+ years ago was really driven by hatred and racism. Some of the Bibilical slavery was that, but some of it was also a way to pay off a debt or something along those lines. You need the context basically.
AMEN AMEN I say to you my friend! Preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ! The entire council not this cotton candy message... They use my Jesus for their gain and benefit 2 tim 3
When You Have People Coming To Church :: They Should Hear Preaching that is God-Centered :: NOT :: Man-Centered and have them see people's Lifestyles that are Consumed with Godliness NOT Worldliness (James 4:4) that it either causes them to weep over their sins and repent or leave.
that's the goal :: for the UNBELIEVERS and BELIEVERS in God that are OF the World to SEE Real Christians Living IN the World in such a Holy, Loving, Separate & Peaceful way that God Will receive Glory (Matthew 5:16)
Like the fly which came by when you said die. Speaking of dye... I think you got a little of it on your arm. I don't know anything about the 'emerging church' just sounds like another trick of the devil to waste our time while trying to serve Christ. See no reason not to 'go out and compel them to come in' but, I agree, the methods these days are to be questioned. Sure hope, Steve, that you've come to believe that salvation is as easy as that (belief) Only satan tries to muddy it up by adding on
Praise be to the great I AM and our Lord and savior Jesus Christ the Holy Lamb of God. To those of the brethren who might have gotten a little lost in the sauce with brother Steves message.I will make it plain, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, believe no man or women,Pastor, pastorett, profit, apostle. reprove every word, You own a bible it's your resposibility to read it. If you don't see it in the bible you must reject it outright Amen. God Bless brother Steve
This guy hasn't really looked at the scripture. Have you head of the great commission? Have you heard of Luke 19:10? "For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost."
It's amazing that people who claim to know the bible the best, know the bible the least.
He saves those who are lost by his name. Not by convincing them that it would be really nice and profitable for them to join the church. He told us to preach his gospel, to teach people to obey his commands. Not to make it comfortable to them, not to put it in really nice and pleasant words but to preach with boldness.
Modern churches are not doing that.
Start reading what is written down, not what you would like to hear.
Modern churches may be doing that, but again, modern churches are completely opposite from the emerging movement. The emerging movement is not trying to make it comfortable for unbelievers. The emerging movement confronts sin. The emerging movement preaches with boldness. Again, this guy has no idea what the difference between modern and postmodern is. Do you know the difference?
This guy has no idea what the emerging church is about. They don't talk about sin? They leave books out of the bible? I don't think so.
The church is for believers? It's for God and unfortunately, God's the one who told us to bring unbelievers into the church
Modern churches are completely opposite from the emerging church. The emerging church is POSTmodern. This guy obviously has not been educated. I would be surprised if he even has a bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
They do not talk about the sin in their lives - they talk only about forgiveness without understanding what we were saved from.
Church is made out of believers for the glory of God and that is what he's speaking about. Jesus told us to preach the Gospel to the lost. To bring them to JESUS so that they could become the part of the church. Modern church is trying to teach unbelievers how to be the church instead of bringing them to the truth.
God's eternal economy is to make man the same as He, in life and nature but not in the God head. And to make Himself one with man and man one with Him; thus to be enlarged and expanded in His expression; that all His divine attributes may be expressed in human virtue. AMEN
I think a major part of christian "church" pastors are beyond "sin or judgement"they can do no wrong it like a certin guy who dogs rob bell like him or not I always ask and look what did this guy say? did he really say that? and where is the proof?
than he says something in his other video that is scriptualy incorect but refuses to adress it. if the guy would have said hey I mispoke I meant this. ok cool I misspeak at times but to dodge the ? isnt cool either but his fan base dont see it false
(not you) well this guy say that he said this or that its in his web site. I think that if folks started reading their bible with an open mind and let the spirit divide the word for them instead of pastor you know there too busy spouting off 2 tim. 7:11
or something when some guy next to the churchhouse is eating cat food trying to survive while the pastor is driving a new jag. ill shut up now but lets get Jesus back in to the church!!!
I just dont like my brand x church is better than this brand y. it dosent matter the label does it preach the word. does it represent what Jesus representeded? does it give a glass of water? does it visit you in jail?
yea if all christians understood that we are the church and that we are listen & obey Jesus and minister to those around us, then that would be a good thing.
your right its not about X vs Y, its about being one as Jesus prayed for the 'church' (believers).
the funny thing is even mainline preachers preach hell fire and brimstone and stealling from the till and have an affir with the secratary and so on and so forth.
Very true. The church was called and saved for the praise of His glorious grace (Eph. 1). To outreach to others is to maintain the God glorifying church, and by that reach to others. The purpose of the church is to be the bride (Gen. 2:24 -> Eph.5:31 and 32). Seeker sensitive does not mean outreach, because every body is called to that. Seeker sensitive is compromise of God's Word for comfort, so (as this man boldly stated) no one will be offended, although Christ is offensive (Matt. 10:22).
Thankfully, this stuff is dying out. People are a lot more informed, if not more intelligent, in this information age, and excusivist opinions like his are becoming less believed in.
It is exactly this version of showing Christ's love by exclusion that will keep people like me out of exclusive churches like his. The greatest commandment was not to keep sinners out of the "church." I respectfully disagree with his opinion.
True we r to love God & our neighbor, but give me some verses saying we r to bring as many unbelievers into our midst as possible & water down His word? To the point where there is no call to obey His call to be holy, die to self, listen & obey Him alone?
Cant find any.
However I can find scriptures saying that when believers came together it was to teach, rebuke, correct & train BELIEVERS to do the good works of God.
BTW its not my opinion, its what God defines as 'church'.
I appreciate your knowledge and desire to save souls. Thankfully, I am saved by grace, not actions or expertise. I am still a sinner, as are you and everyone else. Obviously I don't need to tell you that with your exhaustive knowledge of scripture. I do recall some scriptures about Pharisees though. I'm sure you know where to find them. I prefer to try to know & be like Jesus to the best of my limited ability, not know about him. His life was about inclusion.
Yep saved by grace & having Jesus direct all our paths is what its all about. Of course that requires us to surrender all and follow Him in word, thot & deed.
Sadly I dont see this in most seeker churches. that is my point, not to follow a movement but rather Christ and Him crucified.
If it hadn't been for a "Seeker sensitive" church I would have never returned to church at 40 years old nor would my entire family have been saved and baptized.
it was not because of a denomination or format, it was Christ that drew you to Himself. Jesus is the reason you repented; Jesus is the reason why your family is saved & baptized.
God is all powerful & can work thru anything & anyone, yet we are called to follow Him in spirit & in truth. Therefore if anyone preaches what is in conflict w/ scripture we have a command to follow Jesus Christ in word, thot & deed.
BTW we believers ARE the church, not 1 of the 37,000+ denominations.
It's not so much that I'm arguing that the scriptures you mentioned aren't true. It's more that, like the many denominations out there that have focused on a group of specific beliefs, ie. tongues, baptism, music, makeup, etc. I feel like by condemming a seeker church you are in essence assuming that the verses you focus on are "THE" versus. This is exactly what I and so many others dislike about "Christians." BTW: How well do you REALLY know the "Believers" in your church? Got stones?
so the 37,000+ denominations, including the seeker sens, most of which will not share resources or even talk to each other is what God wanted His 'church' to be?
I dont think so.... something is seriously wrong.
Jesus wanted His bride to be one, pure and spotless! Lots of compromise in the modern churches. Its time to surrender all to God & follow after Him no matter what - but most churches dont preach the same as Jesus & the disciples.
i totally get what your saying, it makes a lot of sense, HOWEVER, i run a seeker sensitive ministry.. BUT our ministry doesnt leave out things like sin.. we talk about the gospel every week... yea, our youth group goes to wonderland, and has pizza, but we also talk about the gospel, and we talk about all the teachings of Jesus.. not just the select ones.... young people today don't want services that have DJ's and stuff like that, they want real church, the way jesus intended it to be
Its all about surrendering all, dying to self, getting a bigger cup of Jesus, listening & doing what He tells you to do in everything.
If your doing the seeker stuff because thats what YOU think is best, was trained to do or thats what your denomination expects, then thats not letting God direct all your paths.
So if He is telling you stuff & your obedient & the evidence is radically changed lives, then keep fighting the good fight. Keep seeking God, listening & obeying Him.
the bible says none seek after God. thats why real christians are given the great comission.I am 53 in my lifetime only 2 real christian,s came to my door to bring me the gospel a baptist and a non denom church(ggwo).after Jesus saved me by his Grace I personally knocked on over 200,000 doors to give the gospel to unbelivers .This new seeker sensitive movment just seems like a counterfit to obiedence to every beliver taking up his cross and freely giving the gospel like Jesus told us all to do .
Thanks very much for your excellent response to the emerging, seeker sensitive, purpose driven church. Your assessment is on target. People are not educating themselves about these things. They are following without thinking. This is profoundly sad. But I do believe it is a separating of the sheep from the goats. Wake up, Christians!
The bible says marking your body is Sin .repent and take that mark tatoo of your Body. rember Satan is going to mark his children in the great tribulation.also get rid of that ink in water demo. you might get tempted to more tatoo,s
So... anyone with tatts is lost in sin, unrepentant, unforgiven, unacceptable & cannot speak truth? Now you want me to spend thousands of dollars to remove some ink just to make me look like your idea of a christian?
Ummm...
I asked God about that and He said that money could be better spend on feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, taking care of orphans & widows and whatever else He tells me to do.
Dont judge on appearance but with righteous judgment (BTDT & its not good).
the man in the video is the one judging the church and keeps poring in green ink to illustrate the sins and things he judges that he thinks is wrong all along the same green ink he judging the church with is on his arm but maybe he has a beam in his eye and cant see it but to everyone else its the SAME green Ugly ink . Sell the ink and give the money to the poor and i can give you an extra long shirt i have at no cost
I ask whatever in both our lives that offends you Lord, please rip, tear, shred & burn it out of both our lives so we can conform to YOUR image. No matter how much it hurts Lord put us both thru Your refining fire & turn up the heat really hot. Dont let us out till Your done w/ us. Lord take all our stuff, dreams, relationships everything & let us totally trust & rely on You. Its all for Your glory Lord, so we can start acting like Jesus.
God Bless You , I just found a bottle of green ink and i am using it to print up some Gospel Tracks and Ill be hitting the streets with them in about an hour . Hetgow do you want to go evangelizing with me , we can be reach lost sinners just like Jesus reached and saved us ? if you cant make it tonight Please pray and together with the Holy Spirt we can snatch them from the Devil and get them SAVED. thank brother hetgow
NO you are a new creation in Christ and God sees u perfect in His Son because of his precious shed Blood ,Jesus came to seek and save lost sinners luke 19:10.Mt16:18 Jesus said He WIL build HIS CHURCH and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.
Is his point that God doesn't want sinners in His church?
I can't stand by that. God may want us to be perfect and wants to make us perfect, but God is a friend to sinners. That is what Jesus ministry on Earth was about, and that is what His ministry still is.
point is people are not to do what they think is right, but rather to seek God & do what He says.
never in the bible do we see where God says to disobey His ways &/or to compromise His word for the sake making the gospel acceptable to unbelievers. Or to relieve us of our individual responsibilities.
Its true its our ministry to reach the lost, but its a command for every believer, not just the pastor. IOW we are paying pastors to do works we should be doing ourselves. Thats just disobedience.
For you cannot trust man! And as the bible says the heart is deceitfully wicked, who can trust it, so you can't trust yourself, when it comes to something as important as salvation, trust no one but Jesus!
It's not something I ever want to take ANY risk about or ever be truly confident about, Jesus told us to be perfect as the Father, having confidence in our salvation not only risks pride and sin and death but makes u less motivated to seek perfect and others virtues, keep the fear, it helps you grow and stay God fearing and don't think your saved, till Jesus tells you, you are saved.
I think you just lost a lot of respect, Jesus didn't forget about hell and the church already does a good job at making people forget about it, we need to be more aware of hell, not forget it.
fromfictiontofact said "I was saying that you "replaced the definition of the word church with the meaning of the definition" I did NOT say "Don't explain the meaning" I am saying explain the definition as the definition and the meaning as the meaning, not the meaning as the definition."
Well gee whiz, why didnt you just say that in the first place? We could have saved a lot of comment space.
i pointed out that he used the meaning of the definition of the word church as the definition. (he said the definition of the word church is 'a collection of believers' when it actually means 'the called out')
And I just pray right now Father, in the name of your son Jesus Christ, that you annoint this man with your spirit, with great power, knowledge and wisdom so that he may spread your word to many people's. That he may be a beacon of your glory, Dear Lord please please have mercy on the man for sinning against you and pour out your grace on him, for your name sake I pray, and as always Father, your will not my will be done, Amen
Fact is those who are "called out" (ekklesia) from the world by God, who gather together in fellowship, worship, AND doing the good works of God, are the "church". Its those individuals who come together to do these things are a "collection" of individual believers. In Acts we see that they were a "community" where they lived w/ each other, gave everything & none was in need. Nothing unbiblical about that.
Now thats God's "church", one that provides 4 the needs of others (read Isa 58).
Speaking of which, why do you view yourself as qualified to teach? I take it you know teachers face greater condemnation, so if you choose to teach, you should do so with great fear and you should check your videos before releasing them.
On qualified, give scriptures showing what is required to "teach".
So if u tell people the "church" is the "called out" & they have no idea, u just leave them hanging w/ no further explanation? No, u explain so they can understand. Jesus explained a lot to people.
My questions...
"So when is explaining something a sin?" especially since it doesnt deny the deity of Jesus Christ or the major tennents of the christian faith?
"give scriptures showing what is required to teach"
blimey that will be a mission! I'll get back to you on that one.
As for the 3rd paragraph, that is not what I was saying, very far off the mark there brother, I was saying that you "replaced the definition of the word church with the meaning of the definition" I did NOT say "Don't explain the meaning" I am saying explain the definition as the definition and the meaning as the meaning, not the meaning as the definition.
On a serious note, explaining something is a sin when it is incorrect (as that would make you either a liar or arrogant, unless you humbly add a disclaimer like "I think" to the statement) or if it has a negitive moral outcome of some kind, if what you say affects someone in a negitive way, its slander so its a sin. To sum up; as God is morally perfect, that is also what we must be, to be sin free.
ah ha! nice one, I like u already ^^ however still debatable, maybe u r right that a person who is made complete need fear nothing, but who is complete? Also; even when complete, we r still human and can make a mistake, can we not? And with the reality of hell burned on our hearts, would we not be fearful of making mistakes?
Looking forward to your reply brother, much love, God Bless, Henry (Lord I repent of my favoritism)
What I mean is: when you fear hell, you fear for yourself, correct?
If you fear for yourself you are thinking more about yourself than others...
I think we ought to forget about hell, since we deserve it anyways... If we go there than we deserve it. If we don't than we will glorify Christ's great mercy...
In any way.... A tree either produces good fruit or bad fruit, and you can recognise the tree by the fruit.
"when you fear hell, you fear for yourself, correct?"
Yes, but you can also fear for other, I fear that my family might goto hell.
Also; the fear that I might goto hell is very healthy, as it keeps me grounded and humble, If I have total confidence in my salvation, I would be arrogant. (in my opinion)
What are you afraid of? He will not touch the righteous. And faith in Christ makes us holy and blameless.
Ephesians 1:4
Repent therefore of whatever your conscience convicts you of and walk with Him! Be obedient to Him! He loves you and commandments exist not to give you fear but to show you true life and true happiness.
Be ye perfect, even as your father in heaven is perfect.
Remember that God doesn't want you to suffer! If you want something that doesn't contradict his word go for it
Love of money is wrong. But if you want to earn 800 million a year and give away 99% to the poor and missionary work and keep the rest to provide for raising a christian family then pray for it! The Lord will give you everything, I'm sure. If it will help you to work for Christ!
There is entire book in the Bible dedicated to sex! Song of songs. But marry first!
those who are "called out" by God, no longer follow the world, & follow Jesus Christ in word, thought & deed. see Acts 2:42, 4:32, 5:12, Gal 6:10. if believers come together to worship, fellowship, etc, then those gatherings/collections of believers are called body of Christ &/or "church" of (whatever city they resided). All scriptural look it up. Of course the modern "church" today is so far from God's "church" its not even funny.
I just had to address the fact that for some reason you replaced the definition of the word church with the meaning of the definition.
I am also very cautious about who I watch and what I believe, as I believe that every Christian has got Christianity wrong to some extent. No preacher ever knows the full truth, no where near.
BTW DO NOT take my word for anything! Look at God's word, test everything & follow Jesus.
BUT if you disassociate w me, a believer cause I try to describe in different ways what the "church" is, then your factious & thats not good according to 1 Cor 11:18-19 (factions) & Gal 5:19-21 (seditions).
The main point = the "church" are believers, not buildings, denominational sects, etc.
The "church" is u & me = a collection of people, who are the body of Christ, doing His will on earth = John 14:23
like I said, I just explained in a different way what ekklesia is to those who didnt know what "called out" meant. of course internet comments leave much to be desired due to limited space. You & I know what "church" means, so lets hope that others will come to that same knowledge.
with that said, lets get on w/ serving our King and doing the works He has called us to do.
Amen bro, its a very small point and I also have something to repent about, as it is my pride that wants to see u humbly admit error. But I also wanted to make a point that you released a video with something incorrect in it and as you are teaching people and have time to review your videos before release, I would ask that you carefully check everything you teach.
The Christian life is so much easier to live with the support of brothers and sisters, God truly gave us the body to give us life support on this earth. great video
What humble, kind preaching. I have a much harder time keeping my temper when faced with the terribly distressing heresy of the emergent church. I have watched this twice in order to memorize the message, and also to try to replicate the gentle but firm tone.
I have many friends who are part of this "movement" and it makes me quite furious. Wrath is a toughie for me. Thank you so much for this!
Appreciated that demonstration of what is happening to the church today; and the leaven (sin) that is permeating the entire body of Christ. God is going to have a people that will truly follow Jesus and the true Word of God in this day. Bless you brother for this truth you have demonstrated today.
This is wonderful.great demostration. With messages like this it is something to think about. Many mega churches turn this way. As a former memeber of mega church I saw this happen. Please pray for a revivial of the true gospel.
Amen amen! Unless the Lord had left us a remnant we would have become like sodom and gomrrah. God bless thank you for this. Its not biblical nor is it Gods will for them to do these things He considers an abomination.
Thanks for posting you're faith.. sometimes it seems like the flock I belong to are the only "peculiar people" out here. It's sad that so many are being led astray, and much scarier that so many more are seeking to be. Stay Girded and seek to please God in all you do.
Great video Steve. Watch out for the fly at 9:32, they are evil man, lol. Everytime I am under spiritual attack, I see a fly, I must be crazy, lol. Good message, good truth. The Church is infected today with Pastors who don`t want to offend people, instead, they offend God, what a trade off huh? Father God, please wake up your Church. Love ya Brother Steve....Peace
I like you Steve, you a great guy, even with the tatoos and all, hahah. I have one on my forearm, and one on each bicep, they are pretty big too, can`t miss them....Have a great night my friend...Peace Brotha.
This is horrible. Where is the grace? Where is the love? You need to re-read the life of Jesus. I fear you have left the new testament out of your explanation of the church and your call to people.
Bigigger, how has he left out the grace and love of God? Jesus teaches about grace and love and its the grace and love through following him, accepting, REPENTING and living a true Christian life. What he's teaching is all about the NT as the NT warns us of false prophets which we are seeing today infiltrate into our churches. He left out nothing. Jesus wasn't on this Earth for some social agenda, to change the world.
thanks for the compliment bro, but its all about following Him in spirit & in truth.
As for the tatt is a bit of a problem with some christians - for me its something that happened in the past and I dont even think about it much anymore (neither does my family; we dont see it). Go figure ;)
Thanks for posting this. What do you think about Rob Bell. I personally dont like him, and I know doug Pagitt spoke at his church last month and I heard him on two seperate programs WATMR denying the existence of hell and that Jesus came in the flesh. I dont see how he consorts with that kind and calls himself a Christian
2 Peter 2:1 [The Rise of False Prophets] But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even DENYING the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves.
Dont worry about the tatts, you a new creature now. Your body is now a temple for the spirit of the most high God. Keep up the videos. People are listening.
JSC, thanks for the compliment, but all glory goes to Him. there is nothing new under the sun and it seems that we are all selfish & sin. He still loves us and desires us to repent so He can fight our battles. seek God, pray the hard prayers, listen & obey Him. Love ya sis, Steve
I love you so much. I love this video, too. I take my vids down pretty regularly, as I post new stuff, but this inspires me to repost some stuff, and create new vids for this clear and important cause. I am struggling, and failing, but I love my G-d and speak of H-m often, and know I'm making an impact. My channel doesn't reflect that entirely. I need to see more like you in my life! xoxo~Your sister
Amen! Mormonism, the Jehovah's Witness Organization, and the Christian Science group are all considered cults because they claim the word "Christian", but deny the Biblical Doctrines that define what exactly one is. That makes me wonder how long it will take for that to catch to other sects that employ the same practice. It will happen, though, the more their ideas "emerge" to the surface and the more true believers call these heresies out for what they really are.
check out a youtube vid called "Emerging Church?! 2" by lucaslabrador. His comments are so true in that who are we to change what God instituted? God's church never emerges, its a constant for all times (in spirit & in truth). its late & I gotta get some sleep. love ya all, Steve
Brian McLaren & Doug Pagitt have said a lot of "red flag" & unbiblical stuff. They referred to God as a chick, questioning God's sovereignty over & knowledge of the future, denial of the substitutionary atonement at the cross, a low view of Scripture, denial of hell, & more.
All you have to do is measure their comments against the whole counsel of God.
Brian McLaren emergent Ldr "I dont believe making disciples must equal making adherents to the Christian religion. It may be advisable in many circumstances to help people become followers of Jesus & remain w/in their Buddhist, Hindu or Jewish contexts... To help Buddhists, Muslims, Christians & everyone else experience life to the full in the way of Jesus"
Wow u can be anything, just add Jesus & ur alright; its about experiencing life to the full. Its so non-biblical its not even funny.
I used to swear & lie like no one else, even when I didnt need too, but when Jesus made me HIS I found that I didnt do those things anymore and it wasnt by following a list of "dos & donts". It just didnt happen. If the F bomb is part of a pastor's language, then thats bad fruit showing that one has not repented and surrendered all to Christ = disobedience. If actions were not a big deal then why did God say He would judge our every word & deed? Ummm...
We're fortunate that we get judged on what Jesus accomplished - and not on what we're able to accomplish. That's what the GOOD NEWS is. If a word is offensive to you - I would suggest not using it! I find people ignoring starving children more offensive. I find people lavishing themselves, while ignoring the poor, and widows offensive. Like I said "either/or" is purely academic. BUT - personally, the words I like LESS are ones that take the focus off of Christ - and put it on ourselves.
Yes salvation = grace not works. But after that believers are called to be living sacrifices, holy priests, a people set apart for God. To do His good works, that stem from repentance. The words dont offend me, THEY OFFEND GOD! Its stated plainly His word. If they choose to ignore it, woe to them that fall into the hands of the living God (& those who make excuses for them). His word states to not use vulgar/coarse language so why make excuses.. its like satan saying "Did God really mean that?"
You have an interesting view of what God, and what Grace is. God is not angry, with an itchy trigger finger. Again, you're ignoring my whole point - and wanting to get self righteous on a few words, in an attempt to discredit others ad hominem. Did I say "go ahead, swearing is okay", or did I say, "I would rather somebody thinking they can say words that offend you, then words that present God in a false light"?
from what I see the things that made God mad in the OT, still anger Him today. True you didnt say swearing was okay but u said u would rather have a pastor swear than promise wealth via tithing. my point is that both are wrong for any believer - bible says we are new creatures in Christ & there is no need to use vulgar language. does this clear things up?
another metaphor I noticed is at 2:58 false teaching is very evident (globbered dye) and that is the PERFECT time to, by apologetics and reasoning, cast out false teachers.

@XTsamurai You misunderstood me. I was defending hetgow because in context it says we are not to do those things "for the dead."

FORMER ATHEIST NOW ATTENDING BIBLE COLLEGE IN HENDERSON NEVADA.
brianwelchisaphony 1 year ago
@brianwelchisaphony You don't see the cross of Christ as offensive? Mt10:34-37 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth...but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.-It's the most devisive.

SilverDent96 2 years ago
I agree completely, but you need to re-watch your own video, but only once...maybe twice in the video do you say "a lot"...most of the time you just say "modern churches". You need to make sure when you are condemning churches that you are very clear on your discernment. I am 100% in agreement in that we should not stray from God's Word, but there is a lot of room for interpretation and different levels of maturity in our understanding of God's Word.
SilverDent96 2 years ago
You seem to be lumping all modern churches together. Just because you are trying to be relevant as a church and reach unbelievers does not mean you can't do that while at the same time remaining biblically accurate in equiping the saints, praying , etc.. You seem to say that being current and modern and being biblically accurate are mutually exclusive. Show me proof of this. When Jesus came, he went to the sinners to reach them. He said he did not come for the righteous but for the sinners.
SilverDent96 2 years ago
No I am not lumping them all together - plz watch again & listen carefully.
Being current & modern are not wrong unless it goes against scripture, which is what a lot of emergent churches are doing (notice I said 'a lot' & not 'all').
BTW if u read scripture in context u would see Jesus came to the sinners yes, but never did He stray from the word of God; never did He do His will but the will of the Father.
Heaven & earth will pass away but only Jesus and His world will remain.

Brother, not every church needs to look like nor do ministry as yours does. Please spend your time building up the body of Christ.
joshls82 3 years ago
The ministry is the same. To teach Christ crucified. He came in the flesh, born of a virgin, died on the cross for remission of our sins, rose again the third day, seen by more than 500 and ascended to the right hand of the Father and in like many will return. He was God in the flesh.
If you are not teaching and preaching this then there is something wrong.

Oh by the way is that tattoo a good idea seeing as scarification and self mutilation is considered an abomination to God. Or did you repent and promise never to get another tattoo? Or perhaps the true church doesn't really have a policy on tattoos?
kindkayne 3 years ago
I see, your looking at my past & judging me, that I'm not forgiven now. Ummm... its so easy to look at the outside but how about the condition of your heart? Thats what counts.
Ever lied, stolen, blasphemed God, lusted/committed adultery or dishonored your parents, loved someone/something more than God lately? Do you do these things over & over? Thats much worse than my old tatt which was over & done with long ago.
Ask God to open your heart & read His word, thats a good place to start.
hetgow 3 years ago
Sorry for my tone. I'm not at all judging you. I'm fine with tattoos and I personally believe it is spiritually irrelevant. it's as you say the "condition of your heart" that matters Mrk 7:15-23.
Lately? no (not in my judgment) Ever? YES. However I have been told sin is sin. All equal. And they quote scripture to back it up. What makes one sin worse?
Now you are judging me. How do you know I haven't asked God to open my heart or read his word? I have.
kindkayne 3 years ago
no, its just that a lot people judge me by an old tatt yet they forget to look inside toward their hidden sins.
I'm not judging you, but just reminding that there is more to life than some old ink. Its about the Holy Spirit convicting us of our sin, where we then fall down before Jesus, repent and ask for His forgiveness.
BTW I cant judge you cause I dont know you.
hetgow 3 years ago
Wow that sounds so wonderful. Where can I find this church. Because there are about 10 different Christian denominations in my area that say their teaching is the true teaching and they can quote just as many scriptures as you.
kindkayne 3 years ago
simply compare what everyone says to the bible, then its pretty clear who has the truth.
quoting scriptures and doing biblical gymnastics is not what God wants. If you cant explain it to a child, then something is wrong.
;)
hetgow 3 years ago
Man I wish it was that clear! It's not. For every scripture I have supporting my beliefs another "bible believer" is always there to shoot me down with a contrary scripture. The bible contains so much that it's often contradictory. And therefor requires biblical gymnastics in order to keep the bible infallible.
The 1st chapter of Genesis requires it!
GE GE 1:3-5 vs. 1:14-19.
Another example I struggle with is slavery. It's illegal today but a biblically legitimate practice.
kindkayne 3 years ago
Well, first of all, God says "Let there be light." and there is light. He does not need a star to produce light, think about it. Whatever He says, is. Whatever He says, goes. About the slavery thing, I can't really explain it to you (partly because I don't know it a lot about it) but slavery 200+ years ago was really driven by hatred and racism. Some of the Bibilical slavery was that, but some of it was also a way to pay off a debt or something along those lines. You need the context basically.

This guy hasn't really looked at the scripture. Have you head of the great commission? Have you heard of Luke 19:10? "For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost."
It's amazing that people who claim to know the bible the best, know the bible the least.
randplaty 3 years ago
He saves those who are lost by his name. Not by convincing them that it would be really nice and profitable for them to join the church. He told us to preach his gospel, to teach people to obey his commands. Not to make it comfortable to them, not to put it in really nice and pleasant words but to preach with boldness.
Modern churches are not doing that.
Start reading what is written down, not what you would like to hear.
masterowa 3 years ago
Modern churches may be doing that, but again, modern churches are completely opposite from the emerging movement. The emerging movement is not trying to make it comfortable for unbelievers. The emerging movement confronts sin. The emerging movement preaches with boldness. Again, this guy has no idea what the difference between modern and postmodern is. Do you know the difference?
randplaty 3 years ago
This guy has no idea what the emerging church is about. They don't talk about sin? They leave books out of the bible? I don't think so.
The church is for believers? It's for God and unfortunately, God's the one who told us to bring unbelievers into the church
Modern churches are completely opposite from the emerging church. The emerging church is POSTmodern. This guy obviously has not been educated. I would be surprised if he even has a bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
randplaty 3 years ago

AMEN

It is exactly this version of showing Christ's love by exclusion that will keep people like me out of exclusive churches like his. The greatest commandment was not to keep sinners out of the "church." I respectfully disagree with his opinion.
bsmilin77 3 years ago
True we r to love God & our neighbor, but give me some verses saying we r to bring as many unbelievers into our midst as possible & water down His word? To the point where there is no call to obey His call to be holy, die to self, listen & obey Him alone?
Cant find any.
However I can find scriptures saying that when believers came together it was to teach, rebuke, correct & train BELIEVERS to do the good works of God.
BTW its not my opinion, its what God defines as 'church'.
Love,

I appreciate your knowledge and desire to save souls. Thankfully, I am saved by grace, not actions or expertise. I am still a sinner, as are you and everyone else. Obviously I don't need to tell you that with your exhaustive knowledge of scripture. I do recall some scriptures about Pharisees though. I'm sure you know where to find them. I prefer to try to know & be like Jesus to the best of my limited ability, not know about him. His life was about inclusion.
bsmilin77 3 years ago
Yep saved by grace & having Jesus direct all our paths is what its all about. Of course that requires us to surrender all and follow Him in word, thot & deed.
Sadly I dont see this in most seeker churches. that is my point, not to follow a movement but rather Christ and Him crucified.
hetgow 3 years ago
If it hadn't been for a "Seeker sensitive" church I would have never returned to church at 40 years old nor would my entire family have been saved and baptized.
bsmilin77 3 years ago
it was not because of a denomination or format, it was Christ that drew you to Himself.
Love,
steve
hetgow 3 years ago
It's not so much that I'm arguing that the scriptures you mentioned aren't true. It's more that, like the many denominations out there that have focused on a group of specific beliefs, ie. tongues, baptism, music, makeup, etc. I feel like by condemming a seeker church you are in essence assuming that the verses you focus on are "THE" versus. This is exactly what I and so many others dislike about "Christians." BTW: How well do you REALLY know the "Believers" in your church? Got stones?
bsmilin77 3 years ago
so the 37,000+ denominations, including the seeker sens, most of which will not share resources or even talk to each other is what God wanted His 'church' to be?
I dont think so.... something is seriously wrong.
Jesus wanted His bride to be one, pure and spotless! Lots of compromise in the modern churches. Its time to surrender all to God & follow after Him no matter what - but most churches dont preach the same as Jesus & the disciples.
Plz keep praying for God to refine His church.

So... anyone with tatts is lost in sin, unrepentant, unforgiven, unacceptable & cannot speak truth? Now you want me to spend thousands of dollars to remove some ink just to make me look like your idea of a christian?
Ummm...
I asked God about that and He said that money could be better spend on feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, taking care of orphans & widows and whatever else He tells me to do.
Dont judge on appearance but with righteous judgment (BTDT & its not good).
Love,
steve

No matter how much it hurts Lord put us both thru Your refining fire & turn up the heat really hot. Dont let us out till Your done w/ us. Lord take all our stuff, dreams, relationships everything & let us totally trust & rely on You. Its all for Your glory Lord, so we can start acting like Jesus.

NO you are a new creation in Christ and God sees u perfect in His Son because of his precious shed Blood ,Jesus came to seek and save lost sinners luke 19:10.Mt16:18 Jesus said He WIL build HIS CHURCH and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.
737flyhigh 4 years ago
Is his point that God doesn't want sinners in His church?
I can't stand by that. God may want us to be perfect and wants to make us perfect, but God is a friend to sinners. That is what Jesus ministry on Earth was about, and that is what His ministry still is.
Forgive me if I misunderstood.
Peace
lucduchien 4 years ago
point is people are not to do what they think is right, but rather to seek God & do what He says.
never in the bible do we see where God says to disobey His ways &/or to compromise His word for the sake making the gospel acceptable to unbelievers. Or to relieve us of our individual responsibilities.
Its true its our ministry to reach the lost, but its a command for every believer, not just the pastor. IOW we are paying pastors to do works we should be doing ourselves. Thats just disobedience.
hetgow 4 years ago
For you cannot trust man! And as the bible says the heart is deceitfully wicked, who can trust it, so you can't trust yourself, when it comes to something as important as salvation, trust no one but Jesus!
fromfictiontofact 4 years ago
It's not something I ever want to take ANY risk about or ever be truly confident about, Jesus told us to be perfect as the Father, having confidence in our salvation not only risks pride and sin and death but makes u less motivated to seek perfect and others virtues, keep the fear, it helps you grow and stay God fearing and don't think your saved, till Jesus tells you, you are saved.
fromfictiontofact 4 years ago
"I think we ought to forget about hell"
I think you just lost a lot of respect, Jesus didn't forget about hell and the church already does a good job at making people forget about it, we need to be more aware of hell, not forget it.
God Bless you,
Henry

i pointed out that he used the meaning of the definition of the word church as the definition. (he said the definition of the word church is 'a collection of believers' when it actually means 'the called out')

Now thats God's "church", one that provides 4 the needs of others (read Isa 58).
hetgow 4 years ago
Speaking of which, why do you view yourself as qualified to teach? I take it you know teachers face greater condemnation, so if you choose to teach, you should do so with great fear and you should check your videos before releasing them.
fromfictiontofact 4 years ago
On greater responsibility = yes.
Scripture support would be nice.
hetgow 4 years ago
Well done, brother
1000arabella 4 years ago
"give scriptures showing what is required to teach"
blimey that will be a mission! I'll get back to you on that one.
As for the 3rd paragraph, that is not what I was saying, very far off the mark there brother, I was saying that you "replaced the definition of the word church with the meaning of the definition" I did NOT say "Don't explain the meaning" I am saying explain the definition as the definition and the meaning as the meaning, not the meaning as the definition.
fromfictiontofact 4 years ago
"when is explaining something a sin?"
When it's Joel Osteen ^^
On a serious note, explaining something is a sin when it is incorrect (as that would make you either a liar or arrogant, unless you humbly add a disclaimer like "I think" to the statement) or if it has a negitive moral outcome of some kind, if what you say affects someone in a negitive way, its slander so its a sin. To sum up; as God is morally perfect, that is also what we must be, to be sin free.

you should do so with great fear

1 John 4:18
I think if he feared for himself (going to lake of fire), how would the love of God be complete in him?
Unknnnnn 4 years ago
ah ha! nice one, I like u already ^^ however still debatable, maybe u r right that a person who is made complete need fear nothing, but who is complete? Also; even when complete, we r still human and can make a mistake, can we not? And with the reality of hell burned on our hearts, would we not be fearful of making mistakes?
Looking forward to your reply brother, much love, God Bless, Henry (Lord I repent of my favoritism)
fromfictiontofact 4 years ago
What I mean is: when you fear hell, you fear for yourself, correct?
If you fear for yourself you are thinking more about yourself than others...
I think we ought to forget about hell, since we deserve it anyways... If we go there than we deserve it. If we don't than we will glorify Christ's great mercy...
In any way.... A tree either produces good fruit or bad fruit, and you can recognise the tree by the fruit.
No tree with bad fruit will avoid being burned.
Bless you! Name's Denys.

(in my opinion)
fromfictiontofact 4 years ago
What are you afraid of? He will not touch the righteous. And faith in Christ makes us holy and blameless.
Ephesians 1:4
Repent therefore of whatever your conscience convicts you of and walk with Him! Be obedient to Him! He loves you and commandments exist not to give you fear but to show you true life and true happiness.
Be ye perfect, even as your father in heaven is perfect.
Remember that God doesn't want you to suffer! If you want something that doesn't contradict his word go for it

God gave us a lot of amazing things!
Yes... Things like sex, wealth, helth etc.
NO! THEY ARE NOT ANTI-BIBLICAL!

The word church comes from the Greek word "ekklesia." It means "the called out" NOT "a collection or community of believers"
He instantly lost my respect and trust when he said that.
fromfictiontofact 4 years ago
ah... the called out = a collection of believers
those who are "called out" by God, no longer follow the world, & follow Jesus Christ in word, thought & deed. see Acts 2:42, 4:32, 5:12, Gal 6:10. if believers come together to worship, fellowship, etc, then those gatherings/collections of believers are called body of Christ &/or "church" of (whatever city they resided). All scriptural look it up. Of course the modern "church" today is so far from God's "church" its not even funny.
Love,
steve
hetgow 4 years ago
I just had to address the fact that for some reason you replaced the definition of the word church with the meaning of the definition.
I am also very cautious about who I watch and what I believe, as I believe that every Christian has got Christianity wrong to some extent. No preacher ever knows the full truth, no where near.
fromfictiontofact 4 years ago
BTW DO NOT take my word for anything! Look at God's word, test everything & follow Jesus.
BUT if you disassociate w me, a believer cause I try to describe in different ways what the "church" is, then your factious & thats not good according to 1 Cor 11:18-19 (factions) & Gal 5:19-21 (seditions).
The main point = the "church" are believers, not buildings, denominational sects, etc.
The "church" is u & me = a collection of people, who are the body of Christ, doing His will on earth = John 14:23
hetgow 4 years ago
I wouldn't take your word for it and you don't
have to tell me not to.
And I wouldn't disassociate with you, that would be silly, If I disassociated with u over such a small thing, I wouldn't know anybody ^^
As for the church being the people not the building, I was fully aware of that.
The 'church' and the meaning of the word 'church' r two different things. So u seem to side-step my point to avoid admission of fault there, how come?
fromfictiontofact 4 years ago
like I said, I just explained in a different way what ekklesia is to those who didnt know what "called out" meant. of course internet comments leave much to be desired due to limited space. You & I know what "church" means, so lets hope that others will come to that same knowledge.
with that said, lets get on w/ serving our King and doing the works He has called us to do.
Love,
steve

Amen bro, its a very small point and I also have something to repent about, as it is my pride that wants to see u humbly admit error. Great video Steve. Watch out for the fly at 9:32, they are evil man, lol. Everytime I am under spiritual attack, I see a fly, I must be crazy, lol. Good message, good truth. This is horrible. Where is the grace? Where is the love? You need to re-read the life of Jesus. I fear you have left the new testament out of your explanation of the church and your call to people.
bigjigger 4 years ago
thats the point of the video... that the thing we call "church" today is so far removed from what God established it truly is horrible.
Thats why at the end it says to read your bible & see what the real "church" really is.
Keep seeking God, listening & obeying Him.
;)
hetgow 4 years ago
Bigigger, how has he left out the grace and love of God? Jesus teaches about grace and love and its the grace and love through following him, accepting, REPENTING and living a true Christian life. What he's teaching is all about the NT as the NT warns us of false prophets which we are seeing today infiltrate into our churches. He left out nothing. Jesus wasn't on this Earth for some social agenda, to change the world.

Ummm, denying Jesus...Imagine that ;)

Another emergent said... "It is possible for someone who does not know Jesus to be saved." Dallas Willard.
Question: How far does one have to wander from God's word & doctrine, that has stood for thousands of years, before its heresy? HUGE RED FLAG!
hetgow 4 years ago
LaneCh 4 years ago
check out a youtube vid called "Emerging Church?! 2" by lucaslabrador. His comments are so true in that who are we to change what God instituted? God's church never emerges, its a constant for all times (in spirit & in truth). its late & I gotta get some sleep. love ya all, Steve
hetgow 4 years ago
Brian McLaren & Doug Pagitt have said a lot of "red flag" & unbiblical stuff. They referred to God as a chick, questioning God's sovereignty over & knowledge of the future, denial of the substitutionary atonement at the cross, a low view of Scripture, denial of hell, & more.
All you have to do is measure their comments against the whole counsel of God.
hetgow 4 years ago
Brian McLaren emergent Ldr "I dont believe making disciples must equal making adherents to the Christian religion. It may be advisable in many circumstances to help people become followers of Jesus & remain w/in their Buddhist, Hindu or Jewish contexts... To help Buddhists, Muslims, Christians & everyone else experience life to the full in the way of Jesus"
Wow u can be anything, just add Jesus & ur alright; its about experiencing life to the full. Its so non-biblical its not even funny.
hetgow 4 years ago
I used to swear & lie like no one else, even when I didnt need too, but when Jesus made me HIS I found that I didnt do those things anymore and it wasnt by following a list of "dos & donts". It just didnt happen. If the F bomb is part of a pastor's language, then thats bad fruit showing that one has not repented and surrendered all to Christ = disobedience. If actions were not a big deal then why did God say He would judge our every word & deed? Ummm...
hetgow 4 years ago
We're fortunate that we get judged on what Jesus accomplished - and not on what we're able to accomplish. That's what the GOOD NEWS is. If a word is offensive to you - I would suggest not using it! I find people ignoring starving children more offensive. I find people lavishing themselves, while ignoring the poor, and widows offensive. Like I said "either/or" is purely academic. BUT - personally, the words I like LESS are ones that take the focus off of Christ - and put it on ourselves.
jaxsonmommy 4 years ago
Yes salvation = grace not works. But after that believers are called to be living sacrifices, holy priests, a people set apart for God. To do His good works, that stem from repentance. The words dont offend me, THEY OFFEND GOD! Its stated plainly His word. If they choose to ignore it, woe to them that fall into the hands of the living God (& those who make excuses for them). His word states to not use vulgar/coarse language so why make excuses.. its like satan saying "Did God really mean that?"
hetgow 4 years ago
You have an interesting view of what God, and what Grace is. God is not angry, with an itchy trigger finger. Again, you're ignoring my whole point - and wanting to get self righteous on a few words, in an attempt to discredit others ad hominem. Did I say "go ahead, swearing is okay", or did I say, "I would rather somebody thinking they can say words that offend you, then words that present God in a false light"?
jaxsonmommy 4 years ago
from what I see the things that made God mad in the OT, still anger Him today. True you didnt say swearing was okay but u said u would rather have a pastor swear than promise wealth via tithing. my point is that both are wrong for any believer - bible says we are new creatures in Christ & there is no need to use vulgar language. does this clear things up?
