When i drag a beat repeat onto an audio track, i dont get any other options, like the macros etc... i can only get the macros on when i create a new instrument track and add a beat repeat over the instrument track, but then i cant add a wav sample on a midi track. in your video all your tracks seem to be audio tracks, any suggestions would be really appreciated. you can actually do automap and regular mode at the same time. i forget exactly how (i believe it was tom cosm aka cosmcosm who posted a vid with this info in it if you wanna look for it) but i think you press user 1 and user 2 at the same time or something like that...

Thank you so much, I've been wondering how to do this forever. But I have a problem, I added my own .wav-file and the first half of it repeats good, but when i try to repeat the other half it only works with 1/32 or something, not up to 1/128. I suck at explaining but it seems like my file is to short or something, yours is a whole song.

If you have Live Lite / Launchpad edition etc. you need to go to preferences and check you are sending midi from the launchpad as a controller. Then you just go into midi map and select your range for the Grid. You then do the same range for volume if you want a steady volume, but invert the range.

I have a problem in that after saving the effects rack, it wont work on any other tchannelin ableton. it only works on the original track that it was programmed on. i can control the Macros with my Nocturn controller but not with Launchpad. Any help appreciated.

my repeat only turns on when my midi signal get over 67 so I started it at 60 and it works as you demonstrate - but your turns on even at the first button at 18?? not sure I got it working on channels one and 2 for djing thanks a lot!!!

ableton blows any DAW away with its user interface, thats my opinion coming from Logic Pro I couldn't get my work any more expressive, until I got live. With live I had a whole new world open in front of my computer.

@hilato Absolutely! About 95% of every track I make now is done in the Session View, and I only commit to an arrangement to do the final tweaks at the end. It's a much more interactive / engaging process.

@hilato No, it does one thing very well..and that's the session view. Launching clips is the best... however, have you looked at FL 9 lately? Creating patterns is FL's strength...integrate the two and you've got a beast of a studio!

@mcveagh78 Not necessary to group. If there is no option to loop, you can always just insert a MIDI clip with an Instrument Rack, drag the desired effects, or instruments, into the Instrument Rack, use the buttons on the left hand side of the Instrument Rack to access the Macro Controls (first button), right click the parameters you wish to control within the instruments/effects and choose the "Map Macro" of your desire. Bonne chance!

Ok, this is really interesting but i'm having some problems with this. I'm djing with live so I've two separate channels and I'd like to assign one repeater on each one. So I insert 2 of the repeater preset you gave us, i assign the line to the Launchpad (Channel A's grid and repeater on one line and Channel B's on another line). But when I'm playing no matter if I'm hitting the line corresponding to Channel A or Channel B, both beatrepeater are triggered ! Could someone try that and help me ?

This helps a lot, thank you very much. Do you know why the ranges are selected differently on User 1 vs. User 2? If this is tried on User 1 (so it can be on top of the drum rack), instead of even ranges for grid/repeat/volume, there is one large jump and the others are very tiny. Thanks again!

Yes the ranges are different since in user 1 mode it has been setup for triggering drum racks, so it is in 4 sets of 4x4. Whereas user 2 has ascending notes in rows.

The Novation website now has an additional document that you might find useful, just search "Launchpad Programmers Reference Guide"

As far as I can tell User 2 sends out MIDI but can't be used to to play instruments, so only User 1 can play Drum Racks or synths, User 2 is more for fx assignments.

I think it's because launchpad responds to midi notes, and in the video the setup involves a rack wich will sends, I think, CC to the launchpad, wich gives no information about leds. A way can be using multiple beat repeaters with different values and turn them on/off ( can be tricky due to the toggle nature of the buttons ), or using a middleware between ableton and the launchpad wich translate the messages.

That's correct, it's a trade-off really, whether to have the visual feedback and have "Toggle" buttons or the method in the video with no visual feedback but the ablity to activate the effect and jump between values with just one button press.

I'd be interested to see if there would be visual feedback when using an inbetween prog like Bome's MIDI Translator.

I'm hoping Max for Live might solve some of these issues (with the APC40 too).

the issue is what type of info is sent back to the launch pad , no note info , no feed back.

maybe there is a workaround with the novation automap , but the issue is quite basic
