  • I was just thinking about this song earlier today... I'd like to hear them do this one again..

  • I still have this album on vinyl. They were my fav as a teen.

  • This Denise...its on her website as one of the songs she's lead while in the Clark Sisters.

  • @fulleffect29 not by any chance,

  • This song will always remind me of my brother David Lawrence Millin...... This was one of his songs..... R.I.P 10/3/1970-06/11/1994

  • talk about some memories........... Thank you mamma for teaching me about Jesus.now that Im older, when I am lonly, Jesus ALWAYS keeps me company...................

  • This song is the epitome of "The Clark Sister Sound".

  • Twinkie Clark is 1 badd sista......

  • I love this song. I like singing the tenor with Jackie

  • they need to remaster sumthin terribly...

  • He STILL keeps me company

  • @SoulfulworshipperJB A refrain is a repeating phrase that is played at the end of each verse in the song.

  • I FOUND A FREIND IN JESUS ILOVE THIS SOOOOONG GOT THE ORIGINAL ALBUM BUT RECORD PLAYER BROKE :(

  • I never heard this song before. I like it a lot. Jesus always keeps me company.

  • I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED THIS SONG WOW

  • I LOVE THIS SONG

  • Twinkie's vocals on this song are sick. So fresh and so strong. This group is just too much for me, and their arrangements. How in the world can they sing refrains that fast, with such even tones. Get it Dr. Mattie Moss' girls!!!!

  • whats a refrain? i should know this.i been in music forever..lol

  • No pasa nada. A refrain is a chorus. I was actually wrong. I was thinking about the bridge where they are singing insanely fast, which is like the transition. Do you sing as well?

  • LORD!! I remember being a Child Listening to this in my Mother's Cassette Player in her Old Osmobile Cutlass Sierra! Wow...This brought back Memories! I Love this SONG!!!

  • This reminds me of Sunday skate nights w/ my church at 8 Wheels back in the day when I was a kid growing up in Little Rock. Just put a smile on my face! :D

  • yo im just jammin, i love the 80s disco fever beats that they do. denise, karen and dorinda stay killin. jacky be doin her thang once in a while

  • No kidding. Sounds like some good 'ol disco for real. I like though. Shoot, I think by this time disco was on it's way out, only to become "House Music"!

  • yea ur so right.... dont you kinda think its a back in the day 1980s roller skating song... after a day full of churchin....

  • Yep. You know at that time I knew people were skating to music but a friend of mine who went to church told me they skated to gospel music (this was 1980 before I realized The Clarks existed). At that time too the gospel music I heard was more traditional and choir based but yeah, some good music none the less.

  • ur right they were always traditional.... they thought that this songs "he keep me company" and other songs with that funky beat was secular.... the clark sisters were against all odds... they broke that traditional cycle back then... dont cha think

  • Oh man did they?! I loved them when I discovered them in 1981 (when I started listening to some gospel then) when I first heard "I'm Looking For A Miracle" then when "You Brought The Sunshine" came out I went nuts.

  • yea they sure did.... oh 1981, lol at you even remembering the year ( thats what i call a true clark fan... i went nuts when i discovered them and im so young so i didnt even know they excisted....i found them out in 08 but im such a clark fan to the bone i have so many of they old albums you would have thought i new them since they came out in 1973...

  • You did better than me! LOL! After "Sunshine" I lost track of them up until either '07 or 08' when I when I heard a commercial for the Gospel Fest here and they were going to be appearing and in the commercial I heard the song "Blessed And Highly Favored" and I went "huh?. So I get on my Limewire, downloaded the song, listened to it all the way through and couldn't believe what I was hearing. I mean I didn't know they were still recording. So thanks to the internet I had a lot of catchin' up.

  • Comment removed

  • how u gonna loose track of them well when you heard blessed and highly favored did they're voices sound kinda familar and no you did betta than me cuz before i found out about them im in church and people was singing they song livin so im like what are yall jammin to, thats so hot so they say dont you know the song livin im like no.. then they was like well do u know the clark sisters i was like who are the clark sisters?

  • After "Sunshine" I lost track of them because I stopped listening to gospel music after that song. In the mid 1990s I was driving a truck over the road and I would scan the radio on a Sunday and would hear "Vain" and I kept saying to myself "man I like that song". But it sounded so familiar but I didn't know who made it. So one day at a truck stop looking around in $1:00 tape bins I found The Clark Sisters "Is My Living In Vain" cassette and listened to it all the way through.

  • Cont: After that I realized that "Miracle" was on there and my favorite and I liked "Pure Gold". After that I forgot about them again until the Gospel Fest rolled around and I heard that commecial for them. Now remember, I don't go to church so I was out of the loop when it came to gospel so I didn't know what they were up to. But between "Sunshine" and "Blessed and Highly Favored" I have a lot of Clark Sisters music to catch up with.

  • you sure do.. i know so many old songs from the clarks its a shame.. but before i found out about them, i was in my dads car and me my mom and dad was about to go sumwhere so im looking thru his cds and i see the clark sisters is my livin in vain album back from the 80s i put it in and i was like i like them daddy who are they... they are hot!!!!!!

  • oh okay....... yea you might think there gonna stop and they dont, then they cum out with another album.. and you like wat i thought they stopped

  • I really enjot listening to this music it all ministers to my soul and spirit. Do you have "He's Worthy"?

  • niecy sangs the part of I found a friend in jesus that her lead part in she was definite on hiting high notes shes has strong voice

  • They sound so great/sweet/ and anjelic. Gives me chills

  • I agree this song is so beautiful!

  • twinkie and denise is leading this with twinkie on this song

  • No- this is all twinkie leading

  • wrong answer its denise clark clark and twinkie sanging

  • the album credits it to ONLY twinkie...it sounds like denise because of the quality of the recording...i'll post the ORIGINAL later to prove it's only twinkie...

  • but on denise myspace it said she sang lead to jesus keep me company did she solo parts but denise and twinkie do sound like vocalley

  • Denise was not this definite on notes- It's all Twinkie!!! Well I guess you can throw her in there- sounds like Denise is just doing soprano line!]

  • yes it was denise and twinkie sanging lead

  • well, point out which part she is singing...

  • Denise is not singing lead. I'm sure she would've sang beautifully though.

  • What ever happened to the fifth one?

  • After watching the Clark Sisters featured on "Unsung" on Channel TV1 2 days ago, I had to find out. She's doing GREAT! She married a Bishop, has a total of 7 sons, obtained her PHD, and leads a ministry in California called "Feed My Sheep, They Are Forgiven". Good stuff, huh? :)

  • One of my favorites!

  • I love this song! Thanks for posting. It's amazing that they haven't redone this song like they have many of the others.

  • they should sinq more of their old sonqs, like these. i lovee dorinda in this sonq

  • this was my jam still is Ive been singing this for over 20 years and have been wanting to hear this thanks whoever posted it!!!

  • why does only 4 sisters perform? i knew there were 5 of them and not 4.

  • Thank you, thank you, and thank you! We can always remember songs and sing them in our mind; but when someone thinks enough to post them is so great and you talk about some great memories listing this album over and over back in the day. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forevermore. It never gets old.

  • This song brings back MEMORIES GALORE! I still have this album...thank you for posting their music..

  • That album cover brings back memories. When I was around 4 years old. I thought they were flying with those outfits.

  • Man LOL! Every time I hear the old stuff my mind just goes back to those good-old days and actually remembering singing in front of the record playing singing with them...

  • I love the harmony!! It does sound like something you would hear at the skating rink..LOL

  • I've always LOVED this arrangement. Twinkie is awe-some. This was before my time, but when I came into the knowledge of the Clark Sisters, I tried to get every "tape" they had. This is one of my favorites!!

  • I love this song!!!

  • I know!!!

  • This music is what some would call "groovy". It makes me want to dance;I like it.

  • this would be a great song to skate to...my church used to have gospel skate night twice a year. This would have been the perfect song!!!

  • lol das funny but true

  • lol.. why is that true, too? i can see the bell bottoms already.

  • bell bottoms?...ok...lol

  • This is my Jam!!!!!

  • Twinkie's voice reminds of Kiki's
