  • How come no one ever impersonates Dustin Hoffman? He has one of the most distinctive voices in Hollywood today.

  • The title of this video implies....something else. lol

  • Well, there's a reason nobody impersonates Dustin Hoffman. This is a guy that refused to make any movie for years waiting for "the right script"...and then made Ishtar. One of the WORST movies ever made. Now...he's not getting ANY script offers. Good or bad

  • @FrlghtWolf Get your facts straight....he was working a lot prior to Ishtar....and that makes no sense....EVERYBODY has a bad movie to their name....that doesn't change the fact that Hoffman is a brilliant actor. Right after Ishtar he has gotten an Academy Award....and he still gets a lot of offers today......you don't know what you're talking about......

  • @KayWildcat - I respect actors like Michael Caine,

Sean Penn or Rober Duval. They still experiment

take chances. Hoffman has joined that club of actors

who might as well just phone in their performances.

Tom Hanks, Robert Di Niro are no longer "actors",

they are "movie stars". They do nothing except wait

for big pay-days. I met Dustin here in California while

filming. He strolled our streets waiting to be noticed.

He didn't make a good impression on anybody here

    except the old ladies.

  • @KayWildcat (Cont.) Dustin got his award playing what the

industry calls the "retard role". They all covet this much

sought after Academy Award bait. Tom Hanks did Forrest

Gump. Robert Di Niro did "Awakenings". Harrison Ford's brain

damaged "Regarding Henry". Sean Penn went full-retard in

"I Am Sam". Even Robert Duvall had his day as the child

loving psycho Boo Radly in "To Kill A Mockingbird". BTW,

Dustin hasn't done any "acting" since Rain Man. Unless you

    call "Meet The Fockers" REAL.

  • @FrlghtWolf Yes, I never fought against the fact that he isn't doing good movies these days, but he is getting offers. But yes, he's like Liam Neeson, a brilliant actor...but lately his been apart of awful films. Hoffman I guess isn't experimenting, but you're an idiot if you think DeNiro isn't exprimenting. I love Caine, but saying he is currently experimenting more than DeNiro is dumb. Yes, he's made terrible films like Little Fockers, but nobody you've listed understands filmmaking like him.

  • @FrlghtWolf (cont'd) I call it the "fall-down phase" (yes, I know, stupid name). A lot of people over time feed into their star power & just lose their grasp on acting. But what kind of question is "how did he get so famous"....it's quite obvious. There all still brilliant actors, but unfortunately some of them don't seem to be as commited to the growth of filmmaking. Oh & Hoffman got A award for a "retard role"...he's done many more great performances. Your view on DeNiro still boggles me.....

  • @KayWildcat - De Niro, the brilliant actor who tore up the

screen in the Taxi Driver, The Godfather, Raging Bull and

Goodfellas has all but vanished. What's replaced him is a

guy who makes things like Machette or voice overs for

Arthur and the Invisables. 1995's Casino and Heat were

his last legitimate dramatic hits. Since then, his dramas

have flopped or broke even. The others are a disturbing

series of cameo appearance or goofy comedies like

Fockers and Analyze This/That (he produced).

  • @FrlghtWolf Sadly, I am not in a position where I could disagree with you. I actually felt quite sad watching Little Fockers and throughout the film I just couldn't understand why he would take part in such a film. Even Scorsese has gotten a little worse, but he's still making great movies, which sadly some of these actors aren't. Either way, DeNiro has taken part in brilliant films which will stand the test of time, & thankfully he's going to work with Scorsese again, along with Pesci & Pacino.

  • @KayWildcat - Hanks, De Niro and Hoffman should

be doing their best work now. Instead, Hanks did the

ultimate sell out with "Cast Away" which turned out to

be the biggest "product placement" in history! A 2 hour

commercial for Fed Ex. Lucas, who has the resources

to make any film he wants, keeps making the same

movie OVER and OVER again! Lucas isn't interested

in stories. Apparently, he only cares about technology.

Hollywood is in the middle of what will 1 day be called

    The Dark Ages.

  • @FrlghtWolf Sure, Cast Away could be "the biggest 'product placement' in history", but Hanks did give a brilliant performance in the film. Oh and generally it was a great film. Oh and how is exactly is tha being a sell-out? He worked with Zemmicks before and they had a good story to tell (which revolutionized "stranded" stories all over). Him being a Fed-Ex employee may have been a promotion path for the company, but that doesn't necessarily impact Hanks decision from his standpoint...

  • @KayWildcat - Product placements compromise

integrity. Suddenly the story serves the product.

Tom Hank's character might have naturally made

other choices that would have advanced the story

in a far more meaningful way. FED EX insist that

their product be depicted in a "better" light. Tom

Hanks, already a millionaire several times over

hardly needed to prostitute himself. It might have

been a "great" performance but who could notice?

We were so distracted with the Fed Ex commercial.

  • @FrlghtWolf (CONT'D) However, I do agree on your view on Lucas. I never really saw him as a good writer though. His writing for the Star Wars prequels were unbelievably TERRIBLE! I did believe many years ago that he had a very creative mindset (which he did) as he sparked one of my all time favourite films: Star Wars (the original one) and Raiders. But now I despise him...or rather...his work. Don't know how I'll feel about Red Tails though.

Oh and I'll add James Cameron to your list as well.

  • @KayWildcat - I appreciate Cameron's talent...but just once I'd like to see him make a film for adults. OK! Are we friends now? Hey! Let's go out to a movie tonight! Say...a wacky comedy with Robert Di Nero?

  • @FrlghtWolf No, it's not about making a film for adults, he's best at making a family movie for a large scale mainstream audience....my problem with him is the writing for his recent films....it's just so TERRIBLE.

Sure you could say we're friends, but why a DeNiro comedy? Robert Duvall did terrible films too....so why don't you pick on him? Why don't we see DeNiro's movie with Scorsese, Pesci and Pacino when it comes out!

  • @KayWildcat - OK. We'll go see Scorsese and De Niro. We'll go out to dinner first. But don't try anything! I'm not that kind of boy!

  • @FrlghtWolf You're not?! ...wow....that's disappointing.....well....maybe people can change over dinner?

  • @KayWildcat - I won't try anything on the first date. That's always a set up. The woman is ALWAYS obliged to say "no". So, on the 3rd date, LOOK OUT!!!

  • @FrlghtWolf Woah! Slow down! I don't even know if we'll have another date....I'll have to see how impressed I am with the first.....

  • @KayWildcat - Sorry! Sorry! Is there any way I can make this up to you? Can I give you a neck massage? Maybe, a little soft music in the background. A couple of candles? ....some wine? How about you take off your glasses? You know...get comfy. TRUSSSST MEEEE. LOOK INTO MY EYES!

  • @FrlghtWolf I'm sorry....it's been nice.....but this won't last. I'm afraid none of this would workout between us.....just remember....it's not you, it's me.

Oh, but I could sill use the neck massage!

  • @KayWildcat - Kiss me, damn you! Kiss me...ONCE! Oh god, I love you! It's always been you! Think of me as a soldier going to his death. Oh god, I love you! Oh fie! Fie!!! Fie fie! Kiss me, damn it! Kiss me as if I were a warm holiday cheese log! A hot kiss at the end of a wet fist! Hold on, I got something in my eye. God damn it!! Can I get back to you? Sorry. I'll finish this later! Son of a #!!@**! ...why does this always happen to me!....

  • @FrlghtWolf Well....maybe it's because you're so desperate for my love (rightly so)....but the reason I can't do this.....is........there's someone else.

    Once again, I'm sorry.

  • @KayWildcat - Wait a minute? What are you trying to say? Are you saying... I mean....are you trying to say that... there's SOMEONE else?

  • @FrlghtWolf Yes, and he gives better neck massages then you could ever wish to give!

  • @KayWildcat - Yes, but is he good in bed? Never mind! I know what you'll say even if he ISN'T. That's just the way women are. Excuse me, I'm gonna go massage myself! Ahhh.....ahhhh.....OOooooo

  • @FrlghtWolf Well, good luck finding someone else. Me and my boyfriend are going to have the night of our lives!!

  • @KayWildcat - Frankly, sex becomes rather mundane after the first year. After several years together, if you have sex at all, you'll be watching TV while he does it. You got to do SOMETHING to shake things up. Hey, maybe I can help! Want my phone number? Oh wouldn't that be fabulous? What a movie this would make: "It all started online as a kind of joke" you confide to your best friend through tears. I decided to meet him but I never meant to fall in love with him"! Bradley Cooper would play me.

  • chairle dont surf

  • what the hell did he even say?

  • @zackhanscom He says, "Strasberg's full of shit! Sense memory...*mocking noises*" He's talking about the little arguments that he and Duvall would have when they were roommates studying acting in New York. Dustin studied under Strasberg (who focuses on exercises called sense memories and affective memory) while Duvall studied Meisner, two different (and sometimes competing) methods.

  • oh i thought it he "DID" robert duvall

  • @texas3056 texas and don't know ..... says it all realy

  • I love Hoffman!

  • The title is very misleading.

  • This was da funniest 10 seconds I've ever heard. Classic. No one does Robert Duvall

  • Nobody does Duvall! That was brilliant!

  • hoffman- amazing rainman, captain hook, somehting Focker, just amazing

  • missleading title :(

  • Was that his rain man impression? God he sucks. How did this guy ever become so popular?

  • @TheCottonTop Are you an idiot.....he has took part in one of the greatest American films such as Midnight Cowboy. He has given breathtaking performances throughout his career....he got popular because he was talented....MORON.

  • Would you want to try after seeing what Dustin Hoffman made himself look like

  • Barry Pepper also does a pretty good Duvall impression in the new True Grit.

  • 15 people got raped by dustin hoffman yesterday

  • Dustin often crashed on Duval and his then-wife's couch when he first started out in New York and made trips to Hollywood looking for work in the early 60's, Dustin has said, many times, that his best friends for life are Duval and Gene Hackman.

  • He's not mocking Duvall here, he's doing Duvall mocking Strasberg.

  • dustin can suck my robert duvall.

  • @donteventry99 man shut up. hes awesome.

  • Thumbs Up

    He's great

    (=

  • i happen to agree! strasberg was full of shit and so is sense memory!! great impersonation by the way, he obviously get's a kick out of duvall

  • @johnbourbon Actors trained by Sandy Meisner (like Duvall) always said that about Strasberg. The problem is that most Strasberg trained actors were only skilled in one style. You could spot them a mile away.

  • @johnbourbon Great comment dude :)

  • he looks a bit like buce willis

  • you guys are very funny! sorry about your bad luck with that bad suck----of a clip, that is! lmfao! qiut smokin' that shit!

  • Boy that sucked of residue from hell

  • I could literally picture robert duvall saying that, LOL

  • Hoffman's a has-been!!

  • Spoken like a true never-was...

  • Oh yea!? Where's your Oscar, smartass!??

  • I'd say that was by way of being the point. I don't have one. Neither do you. Hoffman does. Two of them.

  • @Erkynar

    100% Correct...I don't have one!!!

And with the talentless bullshit coming out of Hollyweird nowadays, I have no respect for anybody who gets an Oscar either!! Regardless of whether Hoffman has 2 or 2000 of them I dont give a shit!

  • Alright. Calm down, dude... Peace and out.

  • @Erkynar Ditto!!

  • @DancingSpiderman Agreed!!!

  • Dustin Hoffman is totaly better than Alec Guinness was

  • @92af whos alec guinness

  • SIR alec guiness...better known to the world as Ben Kenobi...

  • @wilky1189 Oh YEAHHhhh... he detests Mos Eisley spaceport...

  • I love the smell of napalm in the morning!!!

  • machiaveliyoohoo's comment is such a load of ignorance and horse crap! Hoffman is known for playing roles withOUT showmanship. Dont confuse Hoffman with Pacino. Hoffman also has KramervsKramer, StrawDogs, Lenny, DeathofSalesman, MidnightCowboy, to name. Tootsie is a comedic role, and Rain Man is in no way showy. If anything it gets too much credit. Because he has even better works than that.

  • Like "Midnight Cowboy" and "Little Big Man".

  • Jeez, guys!Dustin Hoffman is only joking. He's been close friends with Duvall since the 60's.

  • Duvall is a awesome actor. Just watch Lonesome Dove.

  • Being jealous of Duvall is like being jealous of driftwood.

  • dumb.

  • Is that anyway to describe yourself?

  • C'mon Dustin, don't be jealous. You're good at acting too.

  • you don't see to many Robert Duvall impersonations.

  • @CF127 You know what I DID take to be a Duvall impression was Christian Bales portrayal of Melvin Purvis in PUBLIC ENEMIES. I totally caught a Duvall riff in his performance.

  • @CF127 this was my first!

  • Oh, Dustin. That facial expression nice at all...

  • In the TCM documentary BRANDO, James Caan talks about how Duvall talked him into mooning Marlon Brando while making The Godfather and Caan did a similar Duvall impression!

  • CHARLIE DON'T SURF!!

  • Dustin was Duvall's roommate after he left Hackman's place. in this segment of the Inside the Actors Studio interview he talks about how he argued with Duvall about the different acting teachers. Duvall hated Lee Strasberg's method. But Dustin and Duvall obviously like each other and share some great memories from the early years.

So stop talking the "they-hate-each-other" tabliod shit!

  • wow that's hilarious

  • What the hell is wrong with everyone? I don't think Hoffman was trying to mock Duvall. He and Duvall have been friends for forty years, they used to be roommates while they were both struggling actors.

  • @Kiwinites I don't know about Robert Duvall, but he definitely roomed with Gene Hackman when they were first starting out. I believe Duvall was getting consistent film work starting with To Kill a Mocking Bird while Hackman and Hoffman were still struggling.

  • @jakster2 if you've watched the rest of the interview, you'd know that hoffman and hackman roomed together first, before hackman started a family and hoffman had to room with duvall. this is an excerpt from their "late night conversations" as roommates that hoffman is reminiscing about.

  • @Kiwinites OK, that's fine. I only watched this ten second spot. If you read my comment carefully, you would see that I began with "I don't know" which is a pretty good indicator that I wasn't knowledgeable about that portion of their careers. That being said, I appreciate the information. I also agree that Hoffman was only poking fun at Duvall. That's obvious. Matt Damon was doing the same thing with Mathew Mcounoghy (yes, it is probably spelled wrong) since they are considered friends as well

  • @Kiwinites wasn't that Gene Hackman?

  • excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hes trying hard to keep that straight face....beat hes a great poker player

  • Ohhhhh...yea! I love it!

  • Dustin and Robert are actually very good friends.

  • w duvall as tom hagan

  • Tom Hagen is awesome! i love The Godfather.

  • Bull Mechem, too!

  • Comment removed

  • tu famigghia ankora porta u nome de corleone. et tu sempri respittari cosa de famigghia.

  • FUK OFF machiaveliyoohoo

who d fuk r u 2 talk abt hoffman.. he is the best EVER

  • You gotta love Dustin Hoffman! One of the greatest!

  • always found Hoffman a tad "showoffy" as an actor( "Oh look at my career defining turn as a man in woman's clothing in Tootsie, or look at me , I'm playing an autistic person").and he hasn't built enough of a body of work the way I think Duvall has. Duvall's Colonel Kilgore in Apocalypse Now is still one of the great performances of the last 30 years(and he was only in that movie for 40 mins ,yet outperformed Brando and everyone else)."I love the smell of napalm in the morning..etc"..Brilliant

  • honestly, have you seen midnight cowboy, the graduate, wag the dog? I think when it comes to acting Hoffman beats Duvall. Hoffman is the only actor to have a leading role in three Best Picture winners. He has the ability to carry a movie by himself. Duvall has the luxury of picking "epic" movies. Hoffman could have been as good in GF, GFII or AN. Hoffman tends to pick more gritty, artistic dramas, that don't have big box office written on them.

  • kingcaesar5. You're right about Hoffman, but wrong about Duvall, especially when you fail to mention Duvall's sensitive approach to the Boo Radley character in 'Mockingbird'. Also, no one in the world can do Augustus McCrea or Tom Hagen now that Duvall's done them. He is them and they are he forever.

Tess Harper said that she never got to know Duvall in 'Tender Mercies', only Mac Sledge, (his character). In the end, there are hundreds of fine actors, but both Hoffman and Duvall are individuals.

  • machiaveliyoohoo - Forget about Apocalypse Now - have you seen The Apostle? Now THAT is a performance!!!!!!!!!!!

  • best line in the apostle is when duvall shows billy bob thornton the bible to warn him away and duvall says "do you see this?" and thornton replies with "yeah, i se i. i see that book" lmao. that part cracks me up everytime but the whole movie is a comedy genius

  • that is terrible impression. like a kindergardener mocking his/her brother.

  • you know, if there will be a film about rick flair, he could play it

  • Hoffman as Ric Flair, that'd be funny!

  • it has potential to be a great film... set it in the "evolution era", his comeback in the WWE despite his old age

  • hilarious. He is agreat actor as well, always different, unlike most other actors.

  • both are great actors but i prefer Duvall purely because he makes acting look easy.Like de niro ( at his peak ) he strives for authenticity in his performance, every gesture , every facial grimace must be "real", not forced or "acted". Always loved that quality about Duvall. Hoffman is great , but he has a tendency to be a bit "showy"..Tootsie, Rainman , his "Ratso Rizzo" are in hindsight "gimmicky" performances (even he admits that his Ratso Rizzo is embarrassing when he watches it these days!)

  • allright fair enough, razorraymarv

    i will concede

    how about The Apostle

did you him in that one, heh, heh

I also enjoy Scott Glenn although he never had a signature role

  • Lonesome Dove, watch it, then comment.

  • Hoffman is a great actor but lacks one thing duvall has....charisma. Hoffman also has been doing some shitty movies as of late.

  • Comment removed

  • robert duvall has never played a new yorxer

    or an autistic man

    Hoffman is more versatile

    but both are good

    Call Don Corleone to decide

  • Dustin hoffman hasn't played a country singer, a preacher or Colonel in the vietnam war as Duvall did. So what does that prove? Who's more "versatile" now? Read a book or 2 about movies or movie acting ( or maybe even WATCH the acting properly ) before making idiotic statements.

  • razorraymarv,

who have you played in life

    what about xevin spacey

  • 8data: Who have I "played in life"?..Well, I don't work as an actor for a living, and quite frankly, what has that got to do commenting on or "critiquing" actors regardless of whether we work in the industry or not? Did anyone ever need to be a painter to discuss the art of Picasso or Van Gogh? A childish response is probably what would I should expect from someone who can't spell "Kevin"

  • i spell this

    Kaiser soze

my point is, if you enjoy actors try and be one, such as mr spaceys best role

to develop a persona that lasts

  • Keyser...

  • help: does anyone know the date/year/age in which Hoffman burnt his arms in that kitchen accident. No biography seems to be fine about this detail. Thanks.

  • Duvall has always been and will be superior to Hoffman - no comparison between both - Duvall's a scene stealer - Hoffman aint

  • hahahaha. what the hell did he say?? _______ full of shit??

  • He's talking about Lee Strasberg. He played Hyman Roth in The Godfather Part II.

  • Voll Great, NiCe is :o)

  • The Graduate, Midnight Cowboy, John & Mary, Little Big Man, Straw Dogs, Papillon, Lenny, All the President's Men, Marathon Man, Kramer vs. Kramer, Tootsie, Rain Man, Dick Tracy, Wag the Dog, and so on ...!

    He has won 2 Oscars!

    Another 42 wins & 23 nominations!

  • Hoffman is on of the greates actors ever. If you can't remember ..., take a look at IMDB and fresk up your memmory!!

    Shame on you!

  • "Hoffman is ON of the GREATES actors ever." "FRESK up your MEMMORY"

    - you opinion is shit becuase you don't know the English language.

  • LMAO, i can't believe you tried to correct that guy's spelling but misspelled twice yourself.

'YOU opinion' ... 'becuase' ?? And for your information, the value of an opinion is estimated on your intelligence, not on your lingual skills. Apparently i forgot that fluently English speaking people seem to lack brains these days.

  • It could be argued that if one can't spell then he probably ain't that smart ;)

  • Well, that would be true, if the internet would only be used by Americans, Australian, British,... But that is not the case. If someone misspells, but has a marvelous message to put forth, i will respect that person's intelligence, regardless of the lingual skills. Basically, everybody is equal. Judging someone for not speaking good enough English is simply intolerant, ignorant, racist even.

  • Good point

  • obliviouspet, I agree, to a point. However, when an obnoxious person is abusing others and, completely without cause, calling them "ignorant", that's when its time to correct their linguistic errors. Trust me, they're always present in those who love to label others as ignorant.

  • Hoffman isn't worthy of carrying a chamber pot for Robert Duvall.

  • ah ha ha ha well put so true

  • That was the highlight of Hoffman's career, imitating one of the 5 greatest actors ever.

Duvall DIARRHEAS on Hoffman sumthin' serious

  • Duvall, Hoffman and Hackman all roomed together in their 20s. I dont think Hoffman was making fun of Robert Duvall, rather doing an impression of him.

  • That's it. As far as I know they're still friends.

  • my favourite actor! :)

  • I think Hoffman is more versatile though I slightly prefer Duvall.

  • Seems to me that Mr. Duvall really has something that works on screen. However, he always seems like Bob Duvall. Perhaps Mr. Hoffman is a little more versatile? There is no better or worse here.

  • Ahhh, the tiny man syndrome....so Napoleon is not dead after all?

  • Everyone will remember Duvall in lonesome dove, the only movie i rememver hoffman in was little big man

  • yea, little big man was amazing. so was marathon man, midnight cowboy, kramer vs. kramer , the graduate....

  • rainman right?

  • Let's get one thing straight. Both actors are very talented. Duvall couldn't play Tootsie and Hoffman could never have played Tom Hagan in the Godfather films. They are just different. Both are tops in the their craft. In fact they were roommates in the early days along with Gene Hackman and are all firm friends today...

  • hoffman couldnt carry duval jock strap...lol....true

  • AGREED!

  • Really? I have trouble with your reasoning. They are both great just different. I love them both but prefer to see Duvall anytime yet i think Hoffman is more versatile..somehow.

  • and duval couldnt carry dustins handbag. if you know what i mean,

  • That was a great impersonation. I do believe Robert Duvall is a better actor than Dustin Hoffman.

  • so robert isnt a method actor??

  • no they both are they duvall studied under meisner and hoffman under strasberg this was about an argument over who was the better teacher.

  • If they ever make a movie about elton john, i reckon that dustin could play him

  • He's amazing

  • Dustin Hoffman couldn't carry Robert Duvall's jockstrap

  • Oh shut up retard.

  • Best actor ever!!!111 LOL
