This is a beautiful horse but he needs so more weight. you should not be seeing a horses ribs. if u go to shows with him and they inspect him they might tell you that he is to skinny. but otherwise he looks like a very pretty mover. :)
@mickeyluvr101123 it's true.. he was in the process of gaining weight...no need to worry though, his new home has him looking GREAT :) ( visit my channel and you can see his new home in my "favorites". we just received another horse w a weight issue... but that's why we're here... to help :) I post the vids ASAP ..to get the word out while they make weight gain progress
@horseskickbutforever thank you for watching and caring... we found and AWESOME home for him w Michael and Tammie in Tennessee :) go to my channel and you can "meet" Tammy and Michael in " from Tennessee" or a fun out-take of it... and even better... you can see Arizona arrive at his new home... and up dates of him in " my favorites" on the same twomblypublishing youtube channel. you can still be a friend to other Horses by sharing vids of others which need homes... currently it's "Dusty":)
Search for "Arizona arrives at his new home" and you will see the video where we had just unloaded him and put him in with his new herd :). I understand your concern about his hocks. But Derel is right, it doesn't affect his movement. He dances around like a kid lol! Besides, a perfect horse is measured by many things. You should read Derel's book :) it's worth it.
Thanks Michael! I can't wait to see more vids of Arizona in his new home!!! will we get to see some of the Tennessee countryside eventually??? I hope so : )!!!
I just thought your book was a perfect response to "KimHorseGirl" :) You should see him now... His movement is improving, and is much more fluid. We are still working on putting weight on him. I need to get him in his own paddock though because he is such a gentleman, he lets the others have his food. Just got all the posts set, and the gate up on the new paddock today (first couple days without rain!), t-posts and wire tomorrow after work!
youtube has some savvy horse folk viewing : ) yes, they're both capped... but I don't think that they inhibit his ROM at all. .... ALSO, Arizona just got moved to a stable where he's turned out almost 24/ 7 and I think it's been a great benefit to him : ) ( I should do an " update" vid : ) ( thanx for viewing : )
Okay, now that I am home and can look at this video in more detail lol! I wasn't able to see the comments at work. He just needs someone to give him lots of love and attention and not focus him on anything other than being an occasionally ridden "Buddy" horse! Looking at him and his disposition, he would be a welcome addition to this 14 acre farm here in Portland, TN any time :)
The woman who owns him resuced him. That is why he "looks skinny". He is at the barn where I keep my horses. He has put about 100lbs on in the past few months.
well... some horses just love to jump... others less so... I don't know what's in Arizona's heart about the topic of jumping... but at this stage of his life I wouldn't recommend asking him about the topic of jumping until his muscles were completely built back up and symmetrical...a lot of trail riding might accomplish this goal, and be FUN for both horse and rider :) thanx for caring <3
the capped hocks don't seem to be problematic, but his stride still isn't as long as his frame is built to allow his legs to travel. He's currently seeing a chiropractor, but not for the capped hocks, those seem to be insignificant. In my humble personal opinion, a home with a stall that's attached to a turnout ( where he could go in & out and move at his leisure.... he's HUGE) might make all the difference in his movement.
OMG!!! 1 STATE AWAY ITS SOOO CLOSE!!! I would LOVE you get him *sighs* he doesnt jump? that would be cool if he did english and western and jumping. Fast trail rides are fun, he seems like a good horse
he's a LOVELY horse. I don't know if he'd even be a suitable hunter jumper... but he is very good on trails... at any speed :) keep your thinking cap on.... he's for someone very special , his previous owner loved him very much but died of cancer.
