He never missed a day of work and every year went out to the refinery and worked 16 hour days for a month straight, so to say union workers are lazy is a lie. He went on strike twice in 30 years and never got reimbursed for the time he missed but eventually settled on contracts that were fair. Never even threatened a strike but some good came out of the fact that the company couldn't just impose its greedy will on us pheasants, they actually had to negotiate with a body that represented us. We didn't get any raises and kept paying more for our insurance but at least we didn't get raped every time sales temporarily went down.

Every one I've worked at has been plagued with toxic politics, the foremost battle being between the "dumb" front line workers and the "omnipotent" but somehow incapable of out-competing the competition management. The difference with the union job is that the company couldn't lower our wages and benefits on a whim, had to justify firings (not difficult if it had merit) and major issues couldn't be swept under the rug.

He never missed a day of work and every year went out to the refinery and worked 16 hour days for a month straight, so to say union workers are lazy is a lie. He went on strike twice in 30 years and never got reimbursed for the time he missed but eventually settled on contracts that were fair. I hate scabs because they take all the pay increases unions fought and lost wages for.

Mr Coffee once employed Union workers and paid them about $21/hr. They moved to Mexico and paid those workers about 2.50/day. Yet again they moved to China where they paid workers almost .21 cents a day. The price of a coffee maker never went down. It's not about Union wages - it's about greed. Unions were created so that laborers would be created humanely. Labor is Labor. Laborers are skilled. They don't need the rug pulled out from under them so that everyone can get stuff cheaper. It's about loyalty and respect. The auto workers created the unions & the middle class way back in the 1930's. If you want to interfere with a man's livelihood, you should expect consequences, RAT.
I think it's humorously ironic how the "rat-race" mentality is considered more important than humanity.

The machinist unions at the my work place had no talent slackers that enjoyed the benfits of being part of that union. i was disgusted at how these apprentices survived the job layoffs. as for myself i put 8 good years in that job and was the first to go. i was refering to how the not so productive new bunch, got to keep their jobs due to the union. They did not contribute in that business as much as i did. i did not refer to all the union workers as bad just that why the useless ones stayed.
