next time, paint on canvas. a bit more expensive, but it will look and feel more like a professional piece of art.

drying?  acrylic = 2 hours before adding. oil = sometimes 2 months!

question: how long do you have to wait before you can paint on top of a part of the painting that you have already done? I am new and am having a problem. Once I paint the background... anything i put on top of that seems messed up...

if your using acrylics just wait till its dry usually about 15 mins (at least here in florida where its really humid, less in other places)  if your using mediums it will take longer and if its taking too long lower how much medium you are using..

first one is the only one close to something art, for the rest; colors are fine except the raw ones but propositions terrible, years and years, thousands and thousands of painting then you will be sure what to add next and when to stop adding.
