  • That's because Moore meant Rorschach to lampoon Objectivists, and Steve Ditko's views in particular. Objectivists are atheists.

To be fair to Moore's worldview (much of which I very much disagree with), as an anarchist he believes that any sort of leadership comes with it the real potential for self-righteous evil. This is especailly true for "heroes". Watchmen applies this mainly to American cultural icons.

I would take him more seriously if he wasn't so in league with 60's era Leftists.

  • I totally agree. Alan Moore gives me the creeps; but hot damn, he's creative.

  • Is Take A Bow by Muse featured in the movie or is it just used in trailers?

  • I still haven't seen this

  • I've preordered the DVD

  • The funny thing is, Alan Moore meant Rorschach to represent "conservative" values, and made him as unappetizing as possible. But most of his fans immediately indentified with his worldview. Moore expresses disgust about it in one of his inverviews. It's hilarious to watch.

That's partly why the movie was so much better than the graphic novel. So much of Moore's pretentiousness is cut out of the film version, and the story's been tightened up. No wonder Moore's so furious about it.

  • Amen to that.

Rorschach is a rough-hewn view of right-wing views and Deontology, whereas Veidt is more left-wing and Utilitarian. Both characters are meant to be shown as characters you DON'T want having total power.

Oddly, Rorschach seems to be an atheist. That doesn't fit the modern conservative movement perfectly.

  • Rorschach is the most Badass guy ever!! :)

  • when i read the graphic novel i thought that doc manhatin had a lower voice

  • Rorschach wasnt thrown out of the glass. The Comedian was.

  • god i have to see that

  • 3:03 what happens to us

    and the american dream

  • I think the characters are equally liked, I mean, I think people see Rorschach as the 'main' character mostly because half of it 's from his point of view with his narrative on things, and he opens the whole comic, but yeah, I think the characters have equal time in the GN really.

  • what i don't get is, instead of giving Silk Specter a skimpy outfit(like most comic book movies do to women super heros) they cover her up for the most part, but they let Manhatten's sears tower show the whole time. I know it's athentic for the comic, but even in the comic, they hid it as much as possible.

  • plese oh god plese read the graphic novel first, before you go out and automatically assume youll understand all of it, cause chances are... you wont.

  • Truly an awe inspiring film. I hadn't read the graphic novel, or done any real research before seeing it, which is far from my usual custom, so I was unsure what to expect. However, in the end I was completely blown away!

  • Guys, please, help me to identify music track, which starts from 1:27. I don't know wheter it is the ost, but I'm keen on this track.

  • It is called Angel and it's by Massive Attack. It's not on the soundtrack but on M.A.s album Mezzanine.

  • I dont like the comedian, hes such an A hole lol. My fav is ozy cuz he is B A

  • Ozy!!!

  • night owl II ftw

  • Everyone likes Rorscach, personally, I liked the comedian.

  • We watched it last night and I never knew the background of the novel, and I truly enjoyed seeing it. I loved the humanity, the gritty and intelligent dialog of this movie. Half way through the movie I had to pee and I held it the entire time because I could not turn away. Even the violence was breath taking.

This one I would actually see again

  • lol man its rated r and im 13 but me and my friens snuck in too seee it hehe

  • they cramed everything this comic book had to offer towards the end..then changed the ending, so i dont know if i like it or not...i gotta watch it again...but from a bubble gum pop culture perspective it was a good movie in that sense..

  • God I love all the characters but it really is all about Rorschach.

  • ozymandias da best

  • I cannot wait until this comes out. Ozymandias has got to be my favorite!

  • hey! it's going 2 be "R"?!

    and wot bout us?! D:

    teens of 15..

  • go with your parents...if they made it so that it was pg-13, it would suck.

  • The scene of the kiss is the ending of a nightmare, dreamed by night owl.

I wonder if Rorschach will be bald in the movie?

  • no he's not

  • I saw a photo with Rorschach without the mask. He has red hair. It would be very wierd to have a bald Rorschach, but he is the costume 90% of all the scenes he is in.

  • can someone tell me what is the scene with nite owl and silk spectre kissing, ive read the book and i just can't seem to find it, is it part of the new ending?

  • its in the graphic novel. towards the end when they end up falling for each other.

  • i thought it was, but i couldn't find the explosion in the back ground

  • if your talking about when they kiss in front of the bomb going off, then its when nite owl has a dream after him and silk spectre first hook up

  • thankyou!!!

  • IGN Australia gave the movie 5/5 yeeeeeeeah boiiiiiiiii!

  • To everyone, check out my channel I've uploaded 4 new exclusive Watchmen clips; The Tenement rescue, the Keene Riots, Dan and Rorschach's "Good friend" scene and Dan visiting Veidt (instead of Rorschach, though). They're all great!

  • Yes. Yes it will.

  • I smell lots and lots of editing there. Especially when snider talk.

  • Who knows Eira, maybe he will do the graphic novel proud. Maybe Allan Moore will be proud to see it. I want to see this movie, and I agree it is a shame what they did to Moore. I hope Allan will say something, a statement of any kind. If not oh well I will enjoy his work, and his mind and I thank him for the Watchmen universe.

  • Actually, the only reason Alan Moore doesn't want this to be made is League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, which he supported but was a total failure. It's ironic that now he doesn't support a finally promising and loyal adaptation of his work.

  • it seems pretty damn loyal to me. i read the novel just last week, everything they showed in the trailers is in their. im actually surprised that they made practically all the same dialogue and everything

  • not, loyal, or good? Good is subjective and as far as being loyal, this movie is being made by people who adore this book and they are keeping whatever they possibly can the same. Right down to the color pallete. Filmaking is not easily achieved my friend. I think you should at least watch this before you make judgments.
