Technicaly a kernal is the thing everyone thinks is an OS. Kernals are the raw code of witch an OS is laid on top of. I.E. Ubuntu runs on the Linux kernal. If you where to install linux it would just be a command line.

Ubuntu is a bunch of software packaged up to go along with Linux. Ubuntu as a distro doesn't actually count as an OS. Ubuntu, Red Hat, Debian, etc are all just the same operating system with different software bundled with it. The bundled software is not an OS, it is what it is... bundled software.

Some of the language in vb (my point of view), is just plain odd. For example executing a statement in multiple lines is easy in C# because of the";"but it took me a while to find out it vb. Also switch statements are alot simpler in C#.

Yeah vb will run a windows program ok but if your going to make an OS you cant use VB. You need C or C++. I am sure the most dedicated guy out there could pull it off but can you imagine how slow it would be? And btw, I know C, C++, and Java.
