Hey Partner, I bought a WINCHESTER BOWIE KNIFE at Walmart for $20. Everyone on Youtube said how SHARP it was. I got it home and it is a s dull as heck man. I TRIED to sharpen it with the 2 sided gray stone but I cant do it.I got a burr with the coarse side then with the smoothers stone ...nothing, DULL still! Steep or shallow angle and nothing works. Is it the knife or me? Probably both. very disappointed in my purchase:( Thanks
i have a cold steel filet knife, and for the life of me i cant seem to get it sharp, i have a finnish filet knife that i can get hair shaving sharp in no time, what do you recommend i use to get that filet knife sharp again?
Cold Steel knives are well made and decently priced. They are some of the only nearly indestructible folding knives I have seen. The Cold Steel AK47 and Spartan are priced comparably to other quality folders and GREATLY surpass the durability and manufacturing levels of the majority of other fine brands. I have seen blades that look better for the price, but none that function as well as Cold Steel blades for the price tag.
@zanuha Thats a false statement; Cold Steel makes high value knives. For example: the Bushman (only $20.00), the G.I Tanto (also $20.00). Both knives are very tough and well made. If you think Cold Steel knives are overpriced, you must've been looking at their knives with the San Mai lll steel. Which is pricey, but well worth it. By the way, Cold Steel DOES issue their knives to the Military. The SRK is issued to the Navy Seals and I believe Recon Scout is Issued to the Marines.
@lightsaberdudes2 Cold Steel has never used high end steel. They sell folders in AUS8 for exorbitant amounts, and their VG-1 laminate is wat overpriced. VG-1 has poorer edge retention and strength than other higher end Takefu VG series; Cold Steel builds robust knives, but they are way overpriced for their materials Also, the SRK is merely used as a training knife during BUDS by prospective SEALs; a knockaround knife that won't see live deployment, and the Ontario OKC-3S is standard for Marines
i thought he was going to fall a sleep at some points haha

Cold Steel knives are crappy, overpriced, unnecessarily tactical knives that perform the same as a 30-dollar Spyderco.
Also, none of their knives are issued to the military.

@lightsaberdudes2
Where I live, I have to pay 60 bucks for a Bushman and 80 bucks for a GI Tanto. Yeah.

@viss3n Usually just quality. Cold Steel is the brand that makes most knives for the Military.

Cold steel makes outstanding practical knives. Their swords are also great buys.

@jcrockclimber Cold Steel has some great designs; if only they started using higher quality steel.
