This gun is about 23 years old, so no longer in production. Really good guns will cost in the $500 - $700 range in Australia. Don't know about where you are. If you are only doing a bit of spraying, then try and find a gravity feed gun that in a knock off of a Sata or Iwata. Locally you can get them for the $150 mark.
My compressor is a 2.5 horse 80 litre tank and is as small as I would go.
I only sand between spray sessions. That is there is one spray session getting the 5 coats on of the material I'm using. Let sit for at least a week, then sand back with P320 -P400 dry sandpaper just until smooth. Then spray 5 more coats. Let sit for at least 1 more week before sanding out with P800 through P1200 - P2000 wet if you like. Then buff.
Technique and results will most likely be different when using spray cans.
Do you sand in between coats. If so what grade of sand paper do you use. I have my first mandolin ready to be lacquered but I really do not know what I am doing. I am using spay cans for this one. Any tips.
