Romans are said to have later improved it to form what we now know as Greco-Roman wrestling; but it also included striking to form Pankration as the Greek method of hand-to-hand combat, Spartans etc. had to be able to kill people like 30 different ways bare-handed, since weapons broke often during combat.

As a former college wrestler and a combined experience of 18 years through youth, high school and college - oil checking is commonly known. It is NOT legal, and if you did this in a match to me I would mop the mats with you shortly after.

It isn't a wrestling move. It's illegal. If it's done, it is done outside the rules to mentally distress an opponent and get into his head in a match. This is a real thing. It is clearly illegal(in both the rules and the law), but it does happen. It is more common in freestyle wrestling(international competition), where the object is to stop your opponent from basing out and waiting for the ref to restand you, than folkstyle wrestling(high school and college).

okay lets put an end to this shit - I wrestled for 11 years - there is no "finger up the butt move" as there is no tactical advantage in doing something like that. What IS going on is pressure on the hips at the base of the tailbone. Now are there some stupid High School wrestlers that get talked into doing stupid shit by upperclassmen? As a former college wrestler and a combined experience of 18 years through youth, high school and college - oil checking is commonly known. It is NOT legal, and if you did this in a match to me I would mop the mats with you shortly after.

Coaches don't teach it - as any attempt at penetration would cost a team a 6 point DQ - not to mention fact that the other coaches would report the incident. The maneuver is to control the hips using the tail bone - not try and penetrate you dumb ass.

it clearly states any of that sort of interference is illegal and the only way it goes unpunished is if the ref doesnt see it.

I will say that I can't speak for every state's high school wrestling governing bodies, but I can speak for Missouri's, and that move is NOT a legal move. Be like punching a guy in the face to get him to move. The ref will call stalling if a guy is stalling.

The one time a guy did it to me in a match, I promptly turned over, pinned myself, got up in stuck that mother fucker right in his nose. Cleared the benches, got DQd from the tourney, and suspended from school and the wrestling team. I broke the shit out that bitches nose and knocked out a tooth though so... worth it.

It isn't a wrestling move. It's illegal. If it's done, it is done outside the rules to mentally distress an opponent and get into his head in a match. This is a real thing. It is clearly illegal(in both the rules and the law), but it does happen. It is more common in freestyle wrestling(international competition), where the object is to stop your opponent from basing out and waiting for the ref to restand you, than folkstyle wrestling(high school and college).
