Tornado of Souls, Hangar 18, first few in Holy Wars, Symphony of Destruction, some pretty sweet ones in Captive Honour, Family Tree, etc. etc. ETC. So the guy didn't want to be Dave Mustaine's metal puppet forever. Can't blame him for that and I'm a big fan of Dave.

Cryptic Writings is my favorite Megadeth album, alongside SFSGSW. You're right: it's so painfully underrated. I managed to find one of the original copies (the ones with the silver cover instead of black) at a secondhand store for $6. Best find ever. It kills me that this song is only on the Japanese version, and the Warchest, because in all honesty, it is probably one of their best songs from this era.
