A Zimbabwean Chemistry teacher at Miguel Contreras Learning Complex in Central Los played this and three other similar songs on an acoustic guitar. Myself and most of my classmates loved it. This kind of vreminds me of a plena Boricua de canto jibaro. It would prolly sound great on a cuatro jibaro. Viva la union latinoamericana y acaba la rivalidad africana. That continent most resembles mine. Africa, thanks for the world's music and thanks for hosting the first humans.
Joined Peace Corps Zambia in 2003 and had the pleasure of seeing Tuku in Kapiri Mposhi.
One of the best memories in the two years was dancing to this song. I remember swinging another concertgoer in my arms like a little child. It was pure joy!
¿DÓNDE PUEDO CONSEGUIR EL MATERIAL DISCOGRÁFICO DE ESTE GRAN ARTISTA? SOY DE MÉXICO Y ESTOY MUY INTERESADO EN SU DISCOGRAFÍA... AQUI LO ADMIRAMOS MUCHO.. LARGA VIDA A OLIVER MTUKUDZI Y A SU NATAL ZIMBABWE ATTE: DANIEL M.M.
@woodlander777 I have a couple of my tunes on here, but nothing even close to Mr. Mtukudzi. Please look up Barefoot Messiah. I can only dream of recording with him someday.
Everything this guy does is absolute gold. I remember going to Zimbabwe late 90s, on a chicken bus. Every bottle store we went past had the Tuku album ringing out from a car battery solar powered system. Genuinely loved by rural Zimbabweans, genuinely talented, genuinely amazing!
a lifelong, metalhead, I heard this songe playing in a record store and bought Tuku Music along with Judas Priest and Suicidal Tendencies CD's. The clerk looked at me as if I'd lost my mind! :-P
I can't understand any words on the CD other than "what shall we do" but it all moves me.
@ceeze001 Over a decade later, and I still can't find a single person who isn't moved by at least one song on this CD. It doesn't matter what race, gender, religion or political party they are. There is something in Mr. Mtukudzi's music that simply transcends the mind to reach the soul.
This song makes me happy =)
