I ran a 3.5" Rough Country kit on my ZJ Grand Cehrokee for a year before I sold it (gas money killed me) and i wheeled it regularly at Windrock OHV here in the smokies. Put it through Hell and it always got me home. It was a GREAT kit. Are there better quality kits out there? Yes, but I would never have been able to afford them and I got to go offroading and get the Jeep experience thanks to Rough Country's prices...
@dirtysock145 lol my xy doesn't even have power windows.... but solid front and rear and a 8.25 29spline rear... wrangler's are only d30's unless you get a rubi. maybe you mear a grand cherokee, zj?
@thorboy359 yes i am wrong, i mean't to say d35 but ya there was a option on a d44 rear, which is stronger that my 8.25 some say, some say its not. 27 spline's were not as strong as 29 spline.... i got my buddy's tj in my yard with both axle's falling out or it's junk d35 right now, but she's taken hell and held up good. but i think the grand cherokee was designed for high class, not the xj... she's as base as your tj
What do you guys think about a 2inch full leveling kit with nitro 9000 shocks, for a 2000 silverado 4x4. I put 31inch mickey thompson MTZ and they wor out every other tread. I was told its my shocks. true/false?
The Springs are not stiff- I am a Rough Country dealer- one of the largest in the country and I can tell you, I install alot of Rough Country lifts and make alot of people happy.
Rubicon Express is a higher quality company at a decent price. If you are determined to go with Rough Country, their new X systems are using Johnny joints now. A major upgrade in quality for them, but their springs are still stiff. You'll have to upgrade from their standard shocks to soften the ride a bit.
i have had two jeeps and several other rigs. rough country isn't the worst by any means. Consider affordability and they're great on and off road.

@crazy5kid nothing wrong with a xj, even a auto trans... just depends how extreme you wanna go with it. 97 xj, 2inch lift, cut fenders,31's,ect.

whats wrong with them?
wOwownage93 2 years ago
If you want the quality of your jeep to remain high, don't purchase one of these cheap systems. I did and have regretted it ever since.
Ironwind1972 3 years ago 7
what do you advise as an alternative lift then?
