  • Hey Jon, loving your videos! Very, very interesting and helpful.

Just a suggestion though, you might want to keep the acronyms to a minimum and/or give a little bit more detailed explanation on the context behind the subject at hand, as I would imagine not everyone out there is "in the loop".

Thanks again, I hope to see more from you soon!

  • thanks for you honesty about some of these things not being the best tasting food.

  • Shelf reliance sells #10cans of food that last up to 20 years and tastes wonderful. Costco sells all sorts of e-food.

  • Where can you buy the Emrgency food bars and shelf stable water? I want to get those, but don't know where. Also, if anyone knows the general price, that would be helpful as well.

  • Hm, let me guess, those emergency bars taste awful, right? =)

Well, taste is of course not high priority when it comes to survival...

Would you recommend protein bars in this context? I would imagine that they are a good choice... lightweight, high in protein and usually enriched with vitamins, minerals and amino acids. Of course there are also many crappy protein bars out there, but low quality is always to avoid anyway. =)

  • Believe it or not, the bars are good. Protein bars aren't a bad choice either but the E bars have a much longer storage life.

  • Yeah, protein bars would not be the best thing to store over longer periods of time. For camping trips they would be alright I guess.

  • another great vid.

  • Squirrels, rabbits and birds were your main hunting objects. How about eating them? You do not need any stupid fried XXX in that case...

  • You can't soley rely on catching some thing. Thats a variable. If you go out unprepared, catch nothing, and get lost... you'll be crying for some chunky.

Its a precaution. and we all know jonis eats his squirrels!

  • You know, I still don't mind the MRE's. As a matter of fact I miss some of the old (dark brown plastic) flavors like "corn beef hash". Never had a problem getting that one :).

  • Excellent . I assume MRE's are military rations?

My staple when heading our in the bush was always Eatmore bars and granola bars, lol.

But I do carry an emerg kit with other things including survival equipment, a cooking pot and tea bags and all that stuff.

  • The pouches of Tuna are good. High protein, not bad carry wise. Ramen can be eaten dry if need be. I think a bunch of other "meals" come in pouches now too. Jerky, trail mix type stuff etc.

  • I've seen salmon packs that last a while and are high in Calories and Protein. You can pick them up at some grocery stores.

  • LOL! I hear ya on the MRE's! BTW, I like these new video's.

  • Wow, 1200 calories in a single bar? I wonder what they put inside those bars lol

  • Words to the wise! Freeze dried ice cream is the bomb!
