  • Hi man!! I'm a bassist also and let me tell you are doing an awesome job in your videos...Your Jaco's interpretation in Joni Mitchell's tune is guiding me to also play the song!!Congratulations...I have a question, this song was originally recorded on a 6 string?

  • @mathiaze1, thanks for you apreciation! As for your question, I'm pretty sure it wasn't (Lee Sklar in the live video 1991 plays it on a 4 string): I only use this bass because it makes the slided double stops easier 'cause I don't have to play them up far on the neck.

  • awesome! i´m practicing to play this on acoustic guitar

  • that is a bitchin bass my man. never seen one like it

  • Man... you are great as usual... I wish you could be my mentor...

  • wow you are awe some!!! What bass are you using

  • Thanks my friend!

The bass is a Laurus Quasar T800 (hand made by an italian luthier).

  • Its very fair to say that you play very much the same as the great Pino Palladino, you are a complement to him. you put great feeling into this song. what a buzz to be able to play so very well..

  • Great job man. I'll take my hat off

  • Thanks my friend! Happy you apreciate it.

  • You're gifted!

  • What and all round player Pino is eh? Sense of harmony - awesome, groove - awesome, and his physical suitability to the instrument, dem hands of his. What a bass monster. Very well executed yourself, though.

  • WOW!! Great work friend!! and great bass!!

  • if you got a chance check the bass line of genesis invisible touch tour live thats probably a piece of cake for you

  • GGuao man great bass line which is the more intrincated bass line you ever played?

  • Havona (Weather Report - J. Pastorius): never been able to bring the solo to the correct speed (138 bpm).

  • i see you are using a lots of harmonies in the song of course you are just been yourself. thanks for the inspiration dude

  • Well, actually i played the original bassline (except for errors and omissions).

  • Who makes that bass?. I play bass myself, and am interested !

  • It's a Laurus (Quasar T800 SL model). It's handmade by an italian luthier (Master Pierluigi Cazzola). You can find him on youtube channel LaurusBass.

  • good....

  • Muy buen tema y muy bien ejecutado.

  • awesome...sounds really good man....

  • My favourite song.

    Absollutely.

    Thanks. Really.

  • wow man thats great. what kind of bass is that ?

  • Thanks. The bass is a Laurus Quasar T800SL (hand made by an Italian Luthier).

  • Lovely playing. Technical question-- have you used a chorus or flanger? Do you remember the bass sound in Ted Nugent's one atmospheric love ballad 'Together' off the "Free for All" album? I believe Sting used chorus on "Message in the Bottle". Anyhow if you've tried a chorus/flanger, which one would you recommend?

  • Thanks.

Well, I usually use no effects (except for an octaver when needed).

I have a boss pedal chorus but I'm not so satisfied.

I have tried and liked two pedals, not exactly chorus, but with some "features" that allowed you to get a sort of chorused sound: EBS Multicomp and Jacques Prisoner Analog Delay (this is for guitar but sounds great on bass).

Should I guess the effect used in Ted Nugent's song I think it could be a phaser.

    Bye

  • funny justcame across this..i worked for nugent..rob lagrange, then dave kiswenny, this marco...what you are talking about was just an MXR phase 90. not a nice studio unit...we recorded it at A2 in ann arbor MI....

  • Didn't Sting use an 8 string bass on "Message"?

  • 5 STARS..BTW, i think is my fave cover of yours=) Good job. I liked that comment from eliaskingston saying you inspired him to pick up his bass and start playing again.....Thats a major compliment.

  • Thanks Jules for your apreciation!

You' re right: what eliaskingston told me is just wonderful!

As regards my basses, I wouldn't define them as a collection because that implies possession, while for me it's more a matter of love! I love them all : )

    Alessio

  • I love this song so much, thanks so much for sending me the link!!! this bass line is one of my favorites...

  • you have an incredible collection of beautiful basses !!!!!! WOW...you should do a video showcase of your basses !! with some info on each one that would be really interesting.

  • Always good to hear some of you. Keep on a good work. Regards from Belgrade, Serbia.

  • Thanks Tom! Greetings from Genoa, Italy.

  • Your videos are the reason why I picked up my bass after a very long time. Thank you for giving me the inspiration to play again. I wish you all the best.
