  • 8 horas para afinar que colgaaaadassos

  • Did Nico do smack?

  • is that a nico's daughter?

  • @Afroooooooooo that's Nico's son. I think his name is Ari or something. It was her illigitimate son with some famous French actor.

  • Now, ok, I'm a big velvets fan, but, come on, eight minutes of tuning up ??????

  • Comment removed

  • i love that our band always gets immediately compared to the velvet underground though this was never our intention. yes, please.

  • Okay this is some serious avant-garde rock.

  • these fucks were caring too much about their image at the time to actually listen to what they were playing.

  • @Abgulu Troll story troll

  • @Abgulu who gives a fuck man have you seen these dudes they are the coolest looking fuckers on earth

  • The little kid is Ari Boulogne by the way, Nico's son by the French movie star Alain Delon. Alain never acknowledges Ari as his son, but he clearly is. He looks like an exact copy of his father.

  • Nico is a total poseur in this video. I could do way more heroin with my son next to me while playing maraca tambourine better. Way to smack out Nico. Now your son's forever fucked.

  • Rai tre? Ma quand'è che è andata in onda?

How come this was shown on italian television?

  • Greatest band of all time.. especially when Nico stuck solely to the maraca/tambourine.

  • She rode the Lizard King indeed.

...and introduced Iggy Pop to the clap.

  • She rode the Lizard Kind indeed. And gave Iggy Pop his first case of the clap.

  • hack band.

"NAH DOOD, TOO DEEP 4 U"

    no. hack band.

  • This song has a nice Eastern vibe to it. It's hypnotic.

  • man that kid is so lucky to be sitting there midst the velvet underground

  • nico dated jim morrison didnt she?

  • i like how she got bored and finally started playing an instrument and then the lucky crotch closeup zoom by the camera man, i bet that kid is still looking around going "what? can't hear you"

  • i like how she got bored and finally started playing an instrument

  • The singer in my band said that when he was up there...and...perhaps a bit stoned...a good trick was to focus on someone on the left, someone on the right, and someone in the centre, and just sing to them....otherwise you'd get a bit dizzy.

Well...at one of Nico's last performances before hepatitus took her...I was the guy in the centre.

    On acid.

    Nice eye contact.

  • What a bunch up artsy uppity assholes! Pink Floyd please.

  • So they can't play their instruments. I've seen 14 year olds jam better than this.

  • @Abgulu you don't get it do you? It's not about technical skill or being a virtuoso with an instrument. It's about creativity and experimentation. You can have all the technical ability and talent in the world, but if you're a boring person your music will be boring to match. For me, the Velvet Underground produced some of the best music of all time. Even if you've seen 14 year olds jam better.

  • Saw La Paffgren once in Dusseldorf. She was brilliant still.

    1988?

  • the kid in the middle is my hero

  • They always sound like there tuning up,"but here they are tuning up? Many efforts are rewarded by being sent to the bad trip camp",Cause the others were better when they first started'',but not as scientifically well founded,'' as they sounded,'' but awfully considerate at making it clear that we weren't there,''so we obliged them also, by making it clear that they were never there.

  • the most talented blonde ever

  • Now that's a good looking woman. He-llo!!!

  • In a 1969 San Francisco bootleg recording featured on what is called "the Quine tapes", Lou Reed quite clearly states that the song "Femme Fatale" is about Edie Sedgewick.

  • sicuro che questo era enrico ghezzi che trasmetteva

  • God, Nico was so beautiful. My fantasy wife...

  • That's creepy man.

  • Where's the rest of it?

  • The child is lucky

  • The Velvets werent very well known until Andy Warhol took them in his 'troupe'. he was the one that suggested to add Nico to the band. Andy's support made them kinda famous. Most of my friends, including myself, had Velvet-records in the early 70's. In those days there was rumour the VU actually disliked Nico. But there also was rumours ALL the time Lou Reed had died of an overdose: just watch him now!

  • @Bitesmovies the rumours of them not liking Nico persist to this day.

  • Anybody know what kind guitar Lou Reed is playing here?

  • the real question is what kind of tuning is he in

  • Nico is one of the main reasons they got so famous.

  • They didn't get "so famous" while Nico was a member of the band.

The Velvet Underground & Nico LP sold so bad that she left the group or was ask to leave, don't remember.

No one really, only a few gave a damn about The Velvet underground while the band was together.

In the 80's is when people started to listen to them, about 20 years too late.

  • Nico was added to give people something to look at... And femme fatale was written about her.

  • Pretty sure Femme Fatale was about Edie Sedgwick.

And I love Nico but having her in the band didn't make The Velvet Underground more popular at that time.

Also she was added for more than just so people could look at her.lol

  • Watch Nico icon it is said that she and lou reed and an affair and he wrote femme fatale for her.... How could Edie be a femme fatale??? She couldn't break anyone's heart in 2... and she wasn't from the streets... she was rich.... Read the lyrics it reminds you of nico...

  • The guy in the Nico Icon trailer called Nico a femme fatale, thats all.

Andy Warhol told Lou Reed to write a song about Edie Sedgwick and so he did.

From the book Transformer: The Lou Reed Story, Lou Reed said this about the song.

"Andy said I should write a song about Edie Sedgwick. I said 'Like what?' and he said 'Oh, don't you think she's a femme fatale, Lou?' So I wrote 'Femme Fatale' and we gave it to Nico"

So there, Lou said it himself. And when he said gave it to Nico he means to sing.

  • @taty4ever From what I read plenty of men fell head over heels for Edie and she wouldn't take any of them seriously, so I don't see why you couldn't call her a heart breaker. It's true that Edie certainly wasn't raised on the streets, but by the time she came to New York she was living a very bohemian lifestyle. It doesn't sound like Nico to me because she wasn't clownish or flirty like the song describes at all. She was much more subdued.

  • @xXPinkGoddessXx what makes you such an expert on The Factory and all things warhol???? You always comment everything like your such a smartass.

  • @taty4ever LOL I'm just stating what I know. People are free to correct me if I'm wrong. Not trying to be a Warhol Nazi here.

  • Ooooo, two negatives because I questioned Nico's involvement. It was only a question, guys/gals.

Keltyk managed to pose a question withoutr getting arsy.

To Keltyk: Answering your question - I don't think I have. Is that the name of the album? Pardon my ignorance.

  • I've never seen anything that could testament to Nico's influence on VU. All she seemed to do is hang around and try to look part of them. Am I wrong?

  • eh, she was still cool enough she makes some of the music nice and creepy! I like that

  • Reply to Rotterdam- Surely you've heard the 1st album?!

  • It's so cool that there's a little kid plonked down there at Nico's feet. And then she bonk bonks in his ear. Grooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooovyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.

  • it seems that his ears are ....

  • I'm 16, I so wish I was alive around then. I get jealous of my grandparents who lived during that time of amazing, amazing music. The music MTV and Viacom tries to push down my throat is god awful. It's a sin. It's a crime to push such manufactured and sterile music and style on an entire generation.

  • right on man!!

    through the dark ages.....

  • There is hope for the future, thanks to people like you. People with taste. :-)

  • Amazing music continues to be everywhere, and just like VU and many, many bands, are discovered AFTER they broke up, and the songs make their way into movies, cover songs, and even commercials. Lou and John are still very much alive and well and still creating new stuff.

  • it must be so hard to you

  • oh shut the fuck up I'm just trying to give respect to some past bands

  • I know right. My problem with mainstream music is that it comes off as not real. No one puts their heart and soul into an album but instead a three miniute single. It's a real shame. And also I'm only 14 haha

  • The mainstream music at that time wasn't much better you know

  • @tzutzutzu

you're kidding. Right? The Beatles, Stones, Who, Dylan, Motown, etc. were no good?

  • Why can't I have friends like you? haha

  • @gocanes93 I agree, but then we would all be very old today. Even you would be old or dead then. :(

But of course you are right.

  • @gocanes93 I'm 17 and I agree 100%

  • @gocanes93

you are so right! the woprse thing is, folk who grew up in the MTV generation think they know it all, think they know what an alternative band is. cant imagine life outside tv and pop, and x-factor/pop idol! cant squat an old warehouse for the night and turn uop with a band and a stereo and PARTY!

i think LSD had a lot to do with it all bakc then to be fair! but, is that a problem? hee hee, no

  • @gocanes93 You just aren't looking hard enough.

  • @gocanes93 im 16 too and ya back then music was real. i liked 60s psychedelic and 80s/90s spacerock adn shoegaze!!!

  • @gocanes93 Wow, that comment is great! And so true. I don't mean it in a bad way, of course, quite on the contrary - and I envy your youth so much! But it is terrifyingly insightful for someone that young! :) But remember, it was probably something similar when the Velvet Underground started out, and I think Lou Reed said in an interview, or was it John Cale? - that at the time it was mainly la la la, very simple pop songs on the radio...

  • @gocanes93 AHHAHAHAHAHHAH you posted it on this jam. sure the velvets were awesome but this was not really not.

  • @gocanes93 I feel your pain, but you should use it as a motivation to improve the world of music. Go to clubs and patronize the people you think are making good music, let them you know you appreciate it, go to their shows, buy their albums, whatever. Or better still, make music of your own. It's not as hard as you think. There is no gulf between artists and ordinary people; artists are just ordinary people who have some specialized training. You can do it too! Get out there & make your mark!

  • @gocanes93 fuck the hurricanes HABS4EVER

  • @gocanes93 Not so jealous about that draft card business though

  • @gocanes93 i'm your same age, 17. there's no reason to bitch. no one is forcing anything down your throat. if you don't like a specific type of music don't listen to it. you're lucky to be alive when you are. you can appreciate both modern music and something like the velvet underground. if you had been born in their time you probably wouldn't have heard of them or developed a taste for this type of music. if you're so fed up with music why don't you make something better. it's easy

  • @gocanes93 im 14 and i comepletely agree

  • @gocanes93 You are narrow minded and aren't looking hard enough.

  • @gocanes93 I think you'll find that just as much banal pop music was forced down consumer's throats in the 60s and 70s as is now. It's easy to presume that the generation before you was perfect because you weren't around then. The only generation you can judge accurately is your own.

  • @JacobMorrisNinetyTwo

    finally, someone who realizes...

  • No need to be concerned. I'm very sensitive and I do sense your integrity

  • Why are you telling me? I 'don't give a shit' that you don't give a shit...

  • Cosa centra la rai???? Vabè meglio così

  • Thanks for posting this. Its actual title is: "The Velvet Underground & Nico: A Symphony Of Sound'', (Andy Warhol, 1966)

  • Her bottom lip is shaped like a perfect ass. WOW! Botox and colligen injections weren`t around then. What`ts up with that?

  • I think that this is very good for a psychedelic jam. A really inspiring band!

  • When I said, Not a band known for its jams, I didn't mean they weren't good live. Check out Not a Young Man Anymore, a bootleg track on a YouTube vid. Great live act.

  • jam>? I'd call it druggie trance

  • durkdedurkdadurkdurk deee durk durk?

  • Yes. And John Cale is VU number one!!!!!!

  • Is this off of Italian TV? I kinda remember all channels there being called "Rai Uno, Due, Tre, etc."

  • Not Nico's best angle. She looks kinda chunky or something. When she suddenly turns her head tho', you see what a beauty she was.

  • It's the film, the passage from 36mm (or Super 8) to digital that makes some frames look squashed. She was very slim then.

  • poor old ari. look how he grew up...

  • that was a reply to shaolincrazyfist

    wanker

  • gosh that nico... one could just kiss her!!! :-)))

  • Yea, that was when she was REALLY good looking. As time went on, she really got dragged down by drugs and tobacco. This is her in her prime. I totally agree.

  • "Dragged down by tobacco"??? More by the fact that none of you bought her records & that record labels suspended her contracts as a direct results of that, apart from everything else, like looking after her mother who was ill, lack of money, ect... Nobody gave a shit about this ARTIST when she was alive & now you come & tell us that she was "dragged down" by cigarettes? Unbelievable!!!

  • by totally unleashing like this in some raucous cacophony, later on they could be super tight in their live shows, if they weren't too twisted, is what i'm perceptioning

  • You mean 'junkie fag band trying to play music, how fucking cool'...?

  • i bet you like long boring guitar solo's......

Let me guess your listening to Queens greatest hits as we speak

    moron

  • can't get more pretentious than you...the worst people are those who claim to be better than others...and you my friend are one of them...sometimes noise is just noise...

and boring solos...what do you think the VU is trying to do here...hahaha

  • yeah but heroin was lou reeds life and his wife lol

  • i have the bootlegs if anyone would wanna come to my house and watch it

  • why is it that every page with lou or VU is always riddled with "heroin" comments? in fact, i read that lou was more of a drinker than anything, but let's face it; that wouldn't give them the kind of street cred they were looking for.

  • Good point.

  • That was always the write off for them, even in the 60s, because songs about gay men and hard drugs full of abstract noises scare dumb people, and when people how make those songs go on to get massive amounts of critical respect and an iconic pop song (Wild Side) that continue to live on, generation after generation, you get a bunch of square people with bad taste and a grudge who just love letting out the hate in public places, like youtube.

That, and Lou Reed totally did tons of drugs.

  • Great stuff!

In response to emberlivingood`s comment...The only thing HEROIN will do is liberate your life to death!

Of all the drugs in the world, this one is the worst and there is nothing romantic about it!

  • mattychapati

There might be something romantic... well, but heroin won't liberate your soul, i'm agree with you. They made this song but it wasn't heroin what made them to create this music

  • They preferred speed haha.

  • the romanticism surely lies in the "self destructing poet" thing rather than what it is that does the destruction?

  • If there was a such thing as a time machine, the factory would be the first stop in my travels!

  • Ahah ! The cameraman is Warhol himself.

  • I used to have this whole set on bootleg, really great stuff - too bad the cameraman here is so fascinated with nico, she's only just sort of there....

  • and it could only be found on Bootleg?

  • That's such a Warholism. He loved having Nico up on stage doing near to nothing and it bugged the hell out of the band.

  • wouldn't it bug you? pretty face, nice to look at, but basically worthless. look at her in this video. she's not even enjoying herself.

  • haha- ohh yeah... but its just part of what Warhol saw as great in its own way. She was difficult to work with on top of all that too.

  • That's her son Ari

  • She had him with Alain Delon !

  • this is a highly admirable jam.who's the kid with the band?a relation of nicos?

  • AWESOME!!!

  • Whats Ari up to these days?

  • I think heroin liberated his soul.
