Aspirin mask is not for everyday because the skin gets used to it and you won't get the same results.

If you are going to be in the sun after a aspirin mask you need to use a strong sunscrean (uv/ub ray protection) b/c the BHA in aspirin causes light sensitivity.

@gorjuslady3 I actually do a full body scrub with it, too. I do it in the shower, take about 6-7 aspirins and mix it with my Cetaphil face wash and go to town all over. Baby smooth after :) Cheers!

you can actually tell the difference! your skin looks more even in the end :) i've done the mask before, but instead i just crushed the aspirin dry then added olive oil and it works just as well (if anything I like the olive oil better than the honey method--although it doesn't smell as good, it's a better natural moisturizer instead of using aveeno) p.s. you do NOT look like effing steve-o. and you're a beautiful girl without makeup! and nice song in the background :D

@melshena Ha, thank you about the Steve-O comment. Eh, not a big deal. But yes, I don't really use it with honey anymore, I usually will use it with a creamy face wash and then right after applying it I'll start scrubbing, instead of letting it sit (because I don't want face wash sitting on my face and drying it out). Anything will really work with it I've learned. But 2 years later and I still do this routine, so there must be something to it :)

it has to be uncoated aspirin.

I've did this mask a lot a few years ago to help settle my acne and it was amazing! But as with any exfoliator, don't use it too often or it will dry out your skin.

I wouldn't do this more than twice a week whether you have dry or oily skin. Your skin will become tolerant of it if it's used too much and then it won't help at all

Has any1 experience a persistent headache after using the mask for 7 consecutive days? I was leaving it on overnight and was not being careful with the amount used either. I did not know better... I have had a headache for 2 days and it doesn't go away. I stopped the aspirin to pinpoint what it can be. I have done nothing different except the mask and also I have never had a headache in my life which is why I don't know what is happening. I'm female, 28.

@kilokipo You have to be careful with aspirin, and this mask should only be used once or twice a week. It is used as an exfoliator, not an overnight mask to get out impurities, like another "overnight" mask is supposed to be used. Good luck getting rid of your headache, and next time follow the directions. You won't have any problems that way. Once or twice a week, not overnight (once if you have dry skin, twice if you have oily skin)

@DWANESWIFE olive oil is really good for your skin and hair so I wouldn't see why not. If you have acne prone skin I wouldn't use it as it can make it worse. But if you already use olive oil on your skin then go for it =D

@Arevalo602026 - olive oil will never make your acne worse. It doesnt clog your pores. It cannot physically do so, because its molecules are larger than your pores. Also, oil cuts oil, so massaging warm oil into your skin cleans your pores and can actually make your acne better Check out the 'oil cleansing method'. :-)

@Arevalo602026 DHC makes a olive oil that is a deep cleanser. And NO oil is not bad for you. Stripping your skin of oil is bad, you body goes into overdrive to make more oil. Use the cosmetic type olive oil over the indigestible oil though, its purer, and made for cleaning.

@Arevalo602026 even if you have oily skin (I have very very oily skin) you STILL have to moisturize. acne area is basically damaged skin. as the acne heals its gonna "pucker" the skin. just like with a normal scar. its why its so very important to drink lots of water, and use the correct type of moisturizers. dont go overboard on any scrubs though. a full aspirin mask once a week is good. if a breakout happens, use ONE aspirin, and cover just the area to be treated.

I have done this using lemon juice and olive oil. Just mix it together and exfoliate. Just took a bowl of it into the shower with me.

The olive oil makes skin sooooo soft and it is really good for your skin. Your face won't feel really dry afterwards. You can moisturize after if you want, but I found that I dont need to because of the olive oil. Lemon juice is good for brown spots too.

I don't see why not, just make sure you moisturize because you're sloughing off dead skin cells with the exfoliator and extracting impurities with the mask too.
