The behaviour of the flag AFTER it started to move is only possible in a vacuum, so indeed that makes the cause of the movement irrelevant to that particular discussion, not irrelevant in general; the question what caused it to move is very interesting in itself, but not in this context. By holding on to wind as a possible cause you CREATE an anomaly ;)

@Zeikfreakiful OK, we have a whole bunch of clueless individuals who think firearms need oxygen from the air to operate. Gunpowder contains it's own oxidiser, even a flint gun would fire in space. Spring powered BB guns would NOT work, as the spring is used to drive a piston that compresses air from the atmosphere. CO2 guns would be fine.

@memiesnap theres a problem: Space technology didnt exist until the 50s. Our world's warfare history wouldve happened anyway. the only planet capable of coloniation is Mars. You can forget about Mercury unless you can tolerate 1600+ degree temperature. Venus's atmosphere is mostly cyanide. Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus are gaseous planets, not terrestrial Though you can probably make a "Cloud City" type of colony above their stratospheres
