in reference to torque i thought i would add that a car that light doesn't need a lot of torque, because it couldnt handle it anyway. a 454 in a dually needs as much torque as it can get, where as a 454 in a cavalier....probably not a good idea. (would be interesting to see how someone would make a 454 fit in a cavi though, and look decent.)

HP might indicate top speed but torque is a good indication of how fast you will get there. HP is work over time. Torque is the force generated. Believe me. If you can keep the power on the road a 500hp V8 diesel is going to smoke a 500hp V8 gas engine every time off the line.
