VW 1500 might still be a runner after a view measures to get it back on the road... Just put the engine back in place and a few other minor things. There's nothing like a good old volks!!! And I know what I'm saying cause I'm German lol
You must realize one thing, then it will make sense;
1, they were rusty or at least broke down when they were left there, & they were not "antique" at that time.
2, it has been many many yrs that they sat, & many of the trees were either not there or were very young (& small)
Back then steel scrap was NOT of much value, & the cost of having old clunker hauled to wreckers cost more than the value of said vehicle. They have value today in 2012
@RetroCaptain This is 100 percent true.They were forgotten once they became worn out appliances and at that time, had no value other than scrap value. Nobody wanted the complete cars, only a few parts were removed. Now, they are up to the rocker panels in muck, totally rusted away underneat, not to mention the insides of the mechanical assemblies. Nobody should be expected to gather, preserve, store, maintain old cars indefinately so that somebody can grab them for a few dollars later on.
I clean out a lot of sites I find like this. We cut it up & send it to the foundry for melt.
This kind of place is where the crew test out their torches! Cut, cut, cut! Winch it up & load it into a high side dump truck. Then, go over the area with a magnet picking up all the small stuff hidden under the leaves, brush & grown through by a small tree.
We clean your lot & remove your memories into an induction furnace.
you could do like me, take the old junk parts home restore them and resell them in hemings auto news or on line, there is very good money in it you would be surprised just food for thought people are always looking for old car parts when they restore project cars and trucks
the car at 9 sec plzz give me that car plz....................... plz look at my video you have a old car or you got a car from the junkyard that you do not need send it to me Pm for MORE!!.....
Its sad to see all these old cars rotting away, and thinking some day when people my age (16) have kids that are 16 they will prolly be nothing left..
The car with the Flying A emblem on the hood is a 1947-1953 Austin Devin, made in England after the War for the domestic market and exported to the US and Australia. They are quite rare today. I owned a 1948 Austin Dorset, the much rarer 2 door version of that very car. They used to race them as Gassers in the 60s here in the States. I spent years looking for the missing front grill on my car and there is one right on that car just going to waste. Gee I wish had that car for a parts car.
where is this i restore cars some of those could be restored those parts are nearly priceless
