  • Why, God, why; is Tyler the Creator being mentioned on a John Coltrane video. Further more why am I mentioning him

  • John Coltrane speaks to the soul of each one of us, John is a superb musician incomparable. I feel a tremendous void for not having it anymore.

  • People like Coltrane changed my life for the better ...

His music is a prayer, no matter what religion you are.

Mighty deep and thoughtful tenor saxophone sound reflects his state of pure spirit.

    Love supreme ....

  • Trane was stupendous...but he could not touch the intonation + phrasing of a ballad the equal of Hawkins-Webster.

  • @Easleytee ahhh...thanks for the comparison. would you also like to compare a sunset to the moon rising? please, go ahead.

  • Why did I have to stop smoking weed before I found this song...?

  • what album of his is this from? someone please, I had never..

  • @tannernotch album title - "Impressions" released by Impulse! 1963

  • amazing song, not sure about that belly button close-up.

  • Wunderschöne Bilder und noch ein schöneres Lied! Herzlichen Dank...

  • to scramble0gamble when u say justin, brown, disney, that is not music, that is product, mass produced nonsense for the mindless masses who have to be told what to think, still trying to be like 2 generatins b4 them, this is art..

  • how music has evolved... justin bieber, Chris brown, Disney. what surprises me is that what we hear today can actually be called "music" especially compared to this.

  • @scramble0gamble There are still good contemporary sax players out there. It just takes some time to dig through all the crap.

  • @scramble0gamble You're referencing pop music. Even in his day Coltrane wasn't pop. There's decent music out there, and with it being so easy to distribute music these days, it can't even be properly called underground, it's all just below the surface. What I will admit is I haven't come across any modern artists who can bring me to tears like Coltrane or Stevie Wonder. Song-crafting is at an all-time low now that software has made loop-based music so easy to make.

  • @scramble0gamble How is living in 2011 a bad thing??? We have both terrible music as you say - Justin Bieber nonsense etc... But we do have the great performers of our time. I just went to a Brad Mehldau / Joshua Redman concert and they prove to me that 2011 is a great year for jazz too! Besides, you probably forgot the popsongs of the 60s, which were not all that great, except a few. Only good music survives over time...

  • @spr1ng0ni0n , i agree with your statement, but the real question i think is, What will we be listening to when the "oldies" become to be Justin Bieber? its gonna be sad thats all i know, but luckly radicals and anti-conformist like tyler the creator, and BBGD (highly recommend) keep music what its supposed to be, raw, emotional, soulful art.

  • @dmun6 tyler the creator is manufactured rebellion fuck that

  • @prjctcivilian thats exactly what makes him raw and a wreck loose

  • Those photographs, especially in silence, are extraordinary

  • The kind of music that blurs the line between God and Man.

  • @PeterJThaggard

So much of 'Trane's stuff does just that

  • This is Coltrane and some guy named Ellington, right?

  • West Liberty Tri-state Select Honor Jazz Ensemble

  • somebody got a mac...

  • ruined the song with some rubbish photos

  • @TheLastZulu This is someone creating a momento for their family. Forget your rubbish statement prick-

  • @10Bones01 ..weak, its a shame

  • @TheLastZulu

How do you find your Luck?

Everybody is looking for his luck!

    Good luck, man! :-)

Find your luck, where ever you find ist ;-)

    But don't steal a man's ore a woman's Will and Mind !

  • I can here the piano motif in this in 'Untitled 3' from ( ) by Sigur Ros, only it's played a little faster in this and the chords aren't the same... but still interesting. Both very beautiful and Emotional tracks.

  • ajajaj!! czy ta pani ma włosy pod pachami czy mi sie zdaje???!!! o.O

    ale muzyka fajooowa <3

  • I like jazz music...but when i heard this i fell in love with jazz. I've listened to other jazz musicians and I can tell you one thing this song is so powerful I love it. John Coltrane is amazing. I learned of him from reading a book called "She Ain't the One" By Carl Weber & Mary B. Morrison, and before the love scene began she played this song, so I looked it up on Youtube. Now I'm thinking about purchasing the CD!

  • listen to it with "Rainymood" search it on youtube

  • cool vid by the way

  • paul chambers was a poet on that bass

  • @aaronamccoy Jimmy Garrison on bass

  • my page for hip hop

  • I was at this jazz camp with some cats. We were throwing on sad tunes, saw this connected to naima, heard it and just felt sad, uplifted, but sad, you know? I wanna learn this thing, it's so beautiful.

  • so smooth....

  • The silence at the close... well done.

  • I heard this song played by Anat Cohen before I run into original Coltrane's rendition.

It hit me like a ton of bricks the first time, and it did the same thing now, or even more.

There is some kind of magic in those notes or, perhaps, there is a magic in anything that Coltrane ever wrote or played. I don't know. It just sends shivers through my spine every time I hare it. Go figure.......

  • musica eterna...

  • This is great stuff! Can anyone explain if this is modal jazz? If so what chord progressions would be followed on this song? Like impressions and so what follows minor D and Eb 7 chords, is this a similar structure? Sorry for the newbie question

  • @cliffmccully sounds to me like for the most part there's a bass pedal with mccoy playing a progression over that... so the bass notes aren't necessarily the roots, that might be your hangup

  • I was born way after Coltrane's death, but i still feel like i've met him somehow...

  • @superkulmedkniv25 whoa thats deep

  • @Speedindexable

It used to be. Nowadays it's become a cliché

  • great

  • @pwnmonkeyisreal You are correct in your feelings. John Coltrane played on a spiritual level. Therefore, the presence of his music becomes timeless, like eternity! I met and listened to John Coltrane from way back, and his music still sounds new and refreshing to the spirit and the soul!

    .

  • AWESOME :)

  • I'm a classical dude and it moves me too. since I first heard it in the 70s.

Actually I think of it as a mood AFTER a good cry - "After the Rain."

  • Yes this song makes me cry too. Beautiful song to cry to..thank you for

posting this. I have not listened to this in such a long time

  • @berrygirl1964 good, now you made all the lonely jazz people cry

  • I love this song. It makes me so mellow... (:

  • Also see Eric Watson The Peacocks.

  • Holy mother! AFter this you can say that a god exists...it also does rhyme...O_O

  • When I want to feel good for a few seconds I put on music. When I want to commune with the Higher Force I put on Coltrane.

  • Asi debe de sonar el fin de una dia inolvidable, o talvez el dia del fin de una vida !

  • Have you ever felt loved on through song? This is my all time favorite song in life. This man made love to my soul, "After the Rain".

    Carolyn Victorian

  • WARNING: THIS SONG WILL MAKE YOU CRY

  • @ricisrock

Today it comforts me so very much.

  • @Johannesbaerli , glad to hear it..

  • @ricisrock I read that thinking "no it won't" but hell, it did.

  • Who is Brian the Cook, the person Coltrane dedicated the song to?

  • One of Trane's most beautiful songs. Right up there with "Naima". And Roy Haynes' cymbal work is magnificent.

  • @Gerry50ify I couldn't agree more with what you said.

  • THE IMAGES ARE BEAUTIFUL, EVEN THOUGH THEY DISTRACT MY OWN WHEN LISTENING, AND FEELING DIVINITY 3D. TRANE... PLANET EARTHS SPIRITUAL COMPOSER...

  • i think santana this was his favorite song of all time. good video by the way, coool imagery

    Rab Hines

  • all night the sound had come back and again falls this quiet persistent rain

what am I to myself that must be remembered, insisted upon so often

Is it that never the ease even the hardness of rain falling will have for me

something other than this, something not so insistent,am I to be locked in this final uneasiness love if you love me, lie next to me

be for me like rain, the getting out of the tiredness, fatousness, semi-lust of intentional indifference, be wet with a decent happiness- rc
