Russo actually killed it. Since it was planned for Jarrett to lie down for Hogan as that was what Hogan and russo agreed on and Hogan loved how great it got over. Russo's fault for letting a personal vendetta go on PPV and try to make himself look like a tough guy. Hogan getting the title and Jarrett laying down was planned, this shoot however wasn't. And he waited for hogan to leave to do it
Hogan was trying to save the wcw. There was an Kidman interview on Hogan/Jarret thing. Hogan wanted to beat Jeff Jarret for the belt and then drop it to either booker t or kidman in the future. It wasn't fully agreed for jarret to lie down, hogan wanted a match and as a professional stand point, lying down is equivelent to ripping off your fans. Hogan did try arguing with Russo on that, but in the end hogan just had to agree with the lying down thing but he never liked it.

The problem with this whole thing was that I can say with confidence that the majority of wrestling fans didn't want to hear this stuff. The casual fans came to see Hulk Hogan vs Jeff Jarrett. They don't care about the backstage politics like we do. So Russo catered to the minority. And that is why listening to the crowd, they seemed less than pleased at this whole thing. This segment was a hit for us, but a failure in the long run, because Russo catered to the wrong audience.

It's a worked shoot that became real. Basically they had agreed to run this angle ahead of time, just the way you saw it. But then, in the months to follow, Hogan changed his mind. Decided what Russo did was defamation of character. Guess he thought it went further than Russo had initially said it would. So Hogan actually sued WCW, and wouldn't be seen again until after the purchase. The original plan would've had him come back a few months after this for a Title Unification Match.

Russo actually killed it. Since it was planned for Jarrett to lie down for Hogan as that was what Hogan and russo agreed on and Hogan loved how great it got over. As soon as he left the arena, Russo went out there and did this shoot because he wanted to fire Hogan. Russo's fault for letting a personal vendetta go on PPV and try to make himself look like a tough guy. Hogan getting the title and Jarrett laying down was planned, this shoot however wasn't. And he waited for hogan to leave to do it

Hogan was trying to save the wcw. There was an Kidman interview on Hogan/Jarret thing. Hogan wanted to beat Jeff Jarret for the belt and then drop it to either booker t or kidman in the future. It wasn't fully agreed for jarret to lie down, hogan wanted a match and as a professional stand point, lying down is equivelent to ripping off your fans. Hogan did try arguing with Russo on that, but in the end hogan just had to agree with the lying down thing but he never liked it.

The problem with this whole thing was that I can say with confidence that the majority of wrestling fans didn't want to hear this stuff. The casual fans came to see Hulk Hogan vs Jeff Jarrett. They don't care about the backstage politics like we do. So Russo catered to the minority. And that is why listening to the crowd, they seemed less than pleased at this whole thing. This segment was a hit for us, but a failure in the long run, because Russo catered to the wrong audience.

It's a worked shoot that became real. Basically they had agreed to run this angle ahead of time, just the way you saw it. But then, in the months to follow, Hogan changed his mind. Decided what Russo did was defamation of character. Guess he thought it went further than Russo had initially said it would. So Hogan actually sued WCW, and wouldn't be seen again until after the purchase. The original plan would've had him come back a few months after this for a Title Unification Match.

Again, there is a catch 22 with Hogan. I don't care for Hogan for personal reasons, but he did impact wrestling in the 80's and thats an understatement which carried on into the 2000's so he did a great thing for pro wrestling, but behind the scenes he wasn't so great for the business. According to Eric Bischoff, WCW started going to hell when they made it a family show, that's why he left and Russo came in. And in my opinion, Vince McMahon is doing the same thing with WWE right now.

Russo is just a con man who believes his own bullshit. All of his so called great ideas in WWE went through a filter (Vince) before they made it on the air. In WCW they believed his bullshit and let him do whatever he wanted and that eventually was the final nail in their coffin. The man is nothing but a con, a sleaze, a lier, and in the words of Jerry Jarrett a detriment to the world of pro wrestling.

My favorite shoot ever was Paul Heymans shoot on the TNN Network (not to be confused with The Network stable) in late 2000. The one where he dared them to throw him off the air. Cant say there has ever been a better shoot promo than that. That was one pissed-off man.
Obviously Shane Douglas' shoot in Eastern Championship Wrestling, throwing the NWA belt was classic.

RVDs worked-shoot at WWECW ONS 2005 was a nice touch.

Im not really a wrestling fan anymore, just like watching the old matches on this but russo truly ruined what was left of wcw. You should never shoot, especially on a ppv. Have you ever watched a film or tv show where right in the middle the actors suddenly stopped acting and explained everything was fake? People suspend beilief when they watch wrestling-thats the point of pro wrestling!!

Well, what was he supposed to do back then to spark interest? Must we FORGET that Kevin Sullivan as booking that company into the GROUND by pushing the ol'e boys over the younger guys. Must we forget that Kevin Sullivan had Sid as the world champ and still had Brian Knobbs as a major part of the show?
Its funny how the new fans don't think about exactly WHY Russo and Bischoff were brought BACK...because Kevin Sullivan sucked...

Oh I apologise Russo and david Arqutte were much better champions than Sid, and Im not a new fan, i stopped watching after the invasion angle was botched so i guess im not really a fan at all now :(
