  • where is this place plz can osemone tell me where i can find it

  • To play dagorhir do I need to build a blue sword, or are latex larp weapons acceptable?

  • @allabtMando Blue boffer if no ones told you yet =3

  • @allabtMando you have to have Dag legal weapons. it doesn't NEED to be a blue, you could have a red or green or w/e but yes you can't have latex weapons.

  • hahahah, my parents do dagohir, i am going to join, once i turn 16 that is ^,^

  • @ethickca you can join at 13

  • Whats the song that starts at 1:44?

  • dave is the funniest dude, rofl.

how come it wasnt on yesterday....?

this is the best show on discovery

  • dave kicks ass and he's funny as hell

  • i'm really curious about a davel mordal vs mike rowe episode =p my two favorite hosts

  • Someone please tell that dude its "DAG-OR-HERE" for the pronounciation not "dag-i-here" OMG. and its spelled "Dagorhir" so i don't really see how he could misprnounce that.

I hope Blackhawk beats him up for that.

  • ROMANS! FTW!!!!!!!!

  • pause at :46...OHHH DAAAAAMMNN!!! the skin is ripping off her face!!!!

  • To be honest, you can translate a lot of the things on the show into a "Things to do when on break in college" list. As I have. So far: Dagorhir and Gator Wrestling are at the top of the list.

  • So far, from watching Wreckreation Nation, I can honestly say that I REALLY want to try Lawnmower Racing, and I would LOVE to go to a Dagorhir game, and while I don't really want to alligator wrestle or do rock... crawling...

Hell, its a free country! Do what you want to do for fun. :)

  • I play dagorhir and yes it is nerdy/dorky to an extent but hey, i love this game and i will never stop playing this till im old and dicrepid. If going out and fighting all day and partying all night with gorgous women is lame...then hey im the lamest ^_^

  • at least it can provide the nerds/dorks exercise!

  • I don't care what anyone says about Dagorhir, Ive never tried it before but damn that looks fun as hell and if I figure out how, i'm going to join up. Whether everyone I know calls me a nerd or not, power to everyone who does what they enjoy and screw everyone who puts them down.

  • Tell you what I would rather go out and do foam sword fighting then go out and so some of the egotistical crap that most people do that cut on Dagorhir. At least when you go to something like this or anything that is, as jerks call it, nerdy or dorky you don't have to go as anyone else but yourself and what you want to do instead of fitting someone elses mold. For those that cut on this come out and see the friendships and brotherhood that is built here and other places like it.

  • STFU dagorhir is fun, your a closed minded ignorant fuck if you put down someone elses game.

if you dont like it dont fucking insult it, its as simple as that.

  • that looks like so much fun dude!

  • To everyone who says that Dagorhir is no training for real weapons...NO martial art really is. Fencing weapons are much lighter than "real" swords, martial arts limit strikes to "safe" ones away from the head and knees, and even live steel cannot be practiced to actually kill, otherwise it would be banned. ALL of these things are simulations. I know, I used to be in the military, and when we trained, it couldn't even come close to a real war, because you're shooting blanks at MILES equipment.

  • Try taking up Historical European Martial Arts. Might be your kinda thing. I love it :D

  • for recreation, but I wouldn't recommend it as a self defense art. :p

  • Then, you, are ignorant, and talking out of your arse.

  • and you don't know nothing of any real martial arts.

  • This is Youtube ---- stop making a fool of yourself and go look up any of the HEMA videos from the established schools world wide. Collegium, SESH, just a few examples.

No offense to the various other MA groups, but limbs do not parry swords, and before you say this is the 21st century, people do not walk along the streets with swords, I have a registered MA liscence, and I do walk around with swords, and I train 6 hours a week, and have been doing so for close to 3 years.

  • It's from 14th century Mediaeval Europe, the same systems knights and men-at-arms duelled and warred with back then, similar to how TKD was developed in feudal Korea, or Judo, Akido, or Bushido, in feudal Japan, or Arnis, Kali, and Escrima in the Colonised Philipines, Indonesia, or Silat from the Islamic countries, or Muay Thai from Thailand.

  • We train in unarmed, locks, breaks, strikes, take downs, disarms, daggers, swords, polearms, spears, much like Wu Shu, as well as in and out of historically accurate replicas of armour ---- none of this foam or plastic re-enactment toys. That's 15Kg of chainmaille at least, and 30kg for a full war harness.

Similar to other MAs, we train grounding, body-mechanics, measure, striking vital areas, controlling the center-line, efficient movement, breathing control, falling and rolling,

  • If you do slice off an attacker's limb, the attacker can actually sue you, because you have a lethal weapon (same goes for knives and guns). While if you were to defend yourself hand to hand, you wouldn't have that problem. Point is, I highly doubt you go around carrying an actual sword to defend yourself. Hm? Hell, I use to know a man who did this stuff, and told me he would prefer a baseball bat over a sword for leverage. In a self defense situation. That MUST mean something. :D

  • Again, those schools are for fun or recreation. But why don't you be a bit honest with yourself. Are you going to carry a sword, spear or bow and arrow at you, whenever you go outside?? Probably not. Even if you did, you'd probably need some sort of license, or you'd get pulled over by police for having a sheathed sword. Now lets take into account that you got through all of those.. Even if you do, what are you going to do? Slice off an attacker's limb?????

  • 1. It is a serious MA 2. Read earlier comments regarding liscence 3. I don't carry swords around 24/7, but as to slicing off an attacker's limb, what do you mean, "limb"? Try plural.

  • Limb? Dictionary it. I didn't say "Limbs" so I wasn't referring to its plural form.

  • 1. I know you said limb. I meant I wouldn't just slice off ONE limb.

    2. I carry swords around fairly often; I'm an instructor-in-training

    3. If the attacker wants to sue me for cutting off his arms and legs, why did he attack me in the 1st place? Sue me, sure, right after I disarm you permanently, and I wonder who gets the shorter end of the stick.

  • 4. As I mentioned, I don't carry them around 24/7, but we do train in unarmed, and I'm pretty certain I can break the average layman's arm under 5 seconds into the fight.

    5. While it is true that a club or bat gives more smashing power, its lack of balance as a weapon makes it very unwieldy, and the body mechanics of swinging a sword and a bat are very different.

  • 6. While we have sharps, we train with blunt steel or wooden ones, and I'm pretty sure I can do a lot of damage to someone, while it doesn't constitute as a lethal weapon of war. I'll just have to leave enough of him working to convince the police ;)

  • "It is blunt! It will hurt more!" Lol.

  • You have a lot to learn about martial arts and self defense. You do understand that this activity is in a TV show called "wreckreation", don't you? As in.. Recreation? Lol.

  • And if you read my original post properly, I introduced HEMA, Historical European Martial Arts, not Dagorhir LARP. And if you read my other posts properly, you will realize I'm not talking out of the side of my face, or bullshitting. Try google or wikipedia, and type in "Historical European Martial Arts", or "Mediaeval Long Swordplay", and you'd get a gist of what an ignorant indolent prat you are.

  • LoL. I referred to both LARP and HEMA you moron. That's your problem. OLD styles of fighting DON'T WORK in the modern days. Same can be said with old kung fu and karate. They simply don't work. Real hand to hand martial arts, are MMA. Stuff you see in mix martial art circuits. Lol.

  • That is your misguided preconception. If you are too close-minded to see new avenues of application with any MA's principles, then even MMA will not serve as an appropriate means of combat or self-defense, where you, specifically you, are concerned. This is basically what Bruce Lee was talking about when people tried to impose their own definite kata or intepretations on Jeet Kun do, where the importance of the art, or any other MA lies in principles & application. I waste my time with you.

  • Go to the websites I gave you, you're just repeating yourself now.

  • Because I know what I'm talking about, and you don't. I know what you're talking about. So I don't have to see those vids. I have friends and acquiantances in MMA, and they agree that any MA, when applied as per the situation's demands, works. If it you have a myriad of MA and moves, but your principles and applications are dull, then so would your defenses.

  • No, I've pretty much debunked you, the moment we spoke. Again, go to the SOURCES I've given you, if you still don't believe me.

  • Go the sources I gave you 1st then.

  • I already have. Now go to mine.

  • Sorry for the late reply ---- life got in the way.

But yes, I watched your links on Matt Thornton, and I agree with what he puts across, because, while we do HEMA, that is exactly how we train.

Like I said, you take any MA, and you apply it properly, they WILL work. MMA isn't the ONLY effective streetfight technique.

Now, stop dissing other MAs and start looking at them from your own perspective (lol, odd as it sounds), in terms of training methods and application.

  • you will find that a lot of techniques from other MAs make a lot of martial and tactical sense, if you do not take a training partner's drill reactions or complacency for granted, or pre-empt them.

  • That said, I find that your videos are very informative to the general audience. Why don't you upload them on Youtube?

And while you are at it, try looking up systema courses and kali drills on youtube too. They have very similar principles to MMA, if you will, and they are Ancient.

  • Well, Bullshido disagrees with you, but do whatever you feel is right or works. I'll probably have to give you a late reply too.

  • I foamfight for fun, I can't afford expensive real weapons/armor and neither can alot of my friends, we're not rich. This is probably one of the easiest sports to get into and the cheapest to be a part of, this is everybody's game. You don't need to "be" anything when you fight, just go on the field and have fun (I do that). Ya don't need to know martial arts, ya don't need army training to just get out there and have fun. We're all friends, the people are second to none. This is why we love it.

  • Another thing I find completely entertaining is that one would compare a skill aquired from years of use with a real weapon menat for destruction/combat to a foam weapon meant for entertainment/fun. I have past envolvement with military and some martial arts and I would NEVER apply any of that a a friendly display of entertainment for myself and others because the goal is FUN not to harm one another.

  • People do FOAM combat to entertain themselves and others and if you are not entertained or interested then close your eyes, walk away or change the channel otherwise let those alone that live in a fantasy during part of their lives and live in this cruel world, which some of you make obivous here, for the rest of their lives. This is just like ANY other past time we enjoy and others don't. You make your choice and we will make ours.

  • lol not that it matters, but to clarify, "cya on the field" was to mah sword fightin' fellows =P. Well anywho if your not into it your not into, all im saying is don't judge us for having our fun =) my apologies two wrongs don't make a right. ...i mean 3 rights make a left but...

  • cant people just let people have a good time in their own way

  • Oh and saying "Cya on the field" is a stupid challenge 'Kaimelar'--you don't know who you are challenging speaking to people that way. And a Dagorhir challenge isn't that macho of a challenge if you ask a lot of people. Sure it takes skill, so do a lot of things, stop acting like you are something special.

  • You aren't really fighting...I mean yeah I know what you guys do, cause I've done it before, but tcolque has made some good points still. I guess if golf is considered a sport, dagorhir should be too? He isn't ignorant at all, he sounds like he has done some real combat practice or some such thing from the comments, and I see the frustration if he encounters so many people who are saying that what they do is combat equal to the real thing, or real type of training.

  • This is an amazingly fun game/sport that takes some real skill to play, just like any other full contact sport. Hell, who doesn't like to hit people? Dagorhir and Belegarth are healthy stress releases =P. Not to mention all the awesome people you get to meet and fight with. It may be the dream of some who sit in the basement with our dice wiping the snot off and pushes our glasses back up to our faces but its also a fantastic community of friends. Fighting rocks. Cya on the field.

  • Ignorant people like yourself piss me off. Just because your friends are nerds who think they are some sword masters doesn't mean that everyone is. Just because you SAID you didn't say everyone doesn't mean your not insulting the entire sport. Atleast your nerdy friends are willing to get on the field and take a hit. While many of us enjoy dressing up to express our enthusiasm for portraying characters of fantasy, that is not what its all about.

  • *But I do wonder why the other people who comennted wouldn't say anything relevant, and one of them proved a point where his only video is him holding D&D Dice.

  • Really, I just was sick of some of the people who think that because they do this, they think they are sword masters, Like they actually do. And "Some" of them feel they will hold up in a real life or death situation. Bottom line, I just laugh at the type of people who fall under that category, which are some people I know who are very involed with Dagonhir.

  • Finally, someone who whos smart. Thats a good point with the paintball. However, fencing doesn't apply to large scale battle the same way that some other sword styles can. But I guess it's all in good fun and not the most serious of events.

  • And why can't you guys say something to prove me wrong instead of " your horribly cluless", not the point, but this isn't the 90's anymore.

  • opps I dont have perfect english and forgot a ly on the end of proper. Once again thats not the point. And so do I, I left " TaeKwonDo", thats how you spell it, because everyone can get a black belt. and anyways TKD suck for sword. But I guess you didn't know that. And still once again, I never said everybody

  • horribly clueless and barley coherent

  • You sound horribly clueless.

  • I didn't say everybody

  • Lol you cant even talk man...thats strange too cause i have 3 black belts in tai kwan do and 1 krav maga and another karate...

  • Most people don't need to properly fight, I'll give you that, but even if you do it's kind of pointless. I did fencing for years, and granted it helps with footwork and maintaining / closing distance... but once you throw in a shield and archers all around you shooting at you, along with flankers and polearms... all that training for an "honorable" one on one is pointless. It's like saying if I "train" in paintball I'll be ready for the army. It'll help, but experience is what really counts.

  • Well put RogueOfTime.

  • Dave Mordal seemed like a really nice guy. I chatted with him just after they filmed the Dagorhir episode. He was friendly and had no attitude about being a tv star. He seemed genuinely interested in the whacky sports he was doing, and respectful of the whacky people who do them. I bet this is going to be a popular show.

  • I do Belegarth!!! It's awesome, google Belegarth. It's the sword fighting thing they do. It's like LARP minus half the nerdiness.

Belegarth is a different half of Dagohir 0:52

  • I do both (haven't been to a Bel event yet)I'm stuck in the middle... all you have to say is it west coast and there East coast

numbs, that movie you saw i think was based on a diferent game called Darkon. similar basic premace, but a very diferent execution.
