and now, let's all go to the lobby...let's all go to the lobby....

  • @EleKtrolametta You must not understand this movie. Lynch is pure state of mind.

  • I didn't understand this movie. Maybe i should see it again ...

  • I just keep coming back to David Lynch, and coming back and coming back.... its there.... whereeeeever you want.

"i have always admired Lynch's work, but this particular movie is just avantgarde-crap!"

Thats your opinion and you are of course entitled to it. But it's not the opinion of most professional film reviewers around the world who gave this movie positive reviews.

Perhaps Lynch just added one layer too many and your mind/imagination couldnt register it as anything but "avantgarde-crap"

  • @TinfishUK the emperor has no clothes.

  • Makes Sense to me.

  • Me too! Its got the same overall meaning as the ending to 2001.

  • this movie is about our journey in the postmodern fragmented life , day to day self-psychoanalysis, being exposed to a language/image oriented self, memories, which is hacked into pieces and its subsequent confusions, obssessions, fear and a desire to find a personal reality. When it comes to lynch there is no ultimate meaning to decode. the meaning(s)are spreaded along the film. Lacanian reading can help a lot to understand lynch's cinema. Im sure Lynch is familiar and influenced by him

  • Inland Empire is his best film. Hands down.

  • totaly agree. I cant see how you can like lost highway but not inland empire, their cinematic conceptualization is quite similar.

  • @regularperson46 No, Lost Highway is. It and Dumbland are the only two films I really can get into.

  • I love Lynch but hated this movie...It had some great moments and great potential but really needed to be shorter and have a tiny bit of structure..I think he neglected the audience with this one..

  • I totally agree. I liked Lynch better when he was dealing with the mysterious, but with INLAND EMPIRE he turned to the incomprehensive.

  • I only liked the scene that Laura Dern is walking by a dark road as she stops and screams at the camera, with a lot of lipstick in her lips...like a clown.

  • In an industry flooded with predictable "and then, and then" storylines, thank you, David Lynch, for the Dali-esque vision of whatever the hell the film is. Leave the plots for those who plod. I'll take the claustrophobia with moments of transcendance anytime Lynch's genious serves it up.

  • i have always admired Lynch's work, but this particular movie is just avantgarde-crap!

  • This movie is underated and should have gotten at least a couple better reviews, I love this movie and bought it when it came out. i am trying to decode the films meaning.

  • This is David Lynch's masterpiece. And it is definitly the best film of 2006. By far. :)

  • is this out on dvd

  • I adorned myself in all white for the openinig of this picture. head to toe. stab the hell out of the small minds that hated it. thanks david for a further look into the life of her.

  • ugh... The DV looks too "student-filmy" don't you think?

  • I agree, that's what I was thinking when I saw this, but Reviews have been saying that it really doesn't bash the film and that it is a masterpiece.

  • Amen to that, I've seen four of David Lynch's vids, including all of Twin Peaks (Fire walk with me, as well) and I think the guy is fricken idiotic and has a serious oedipus complex. Oh yeah, and he needs to learn how to direct.

  • I love the song. I can't wait to see this, either.

  • I've seen it. Kicks quite a bit nonsensical ass.

  • Amen to that, I've watched four David Lynch vids, including all of Twin Peaks and I think the guy if fricken idiotic and crazy with a serioud oedipus complex.

  • Why do you say "amen to that"? You're not agreeing with him; he liked the movie. I think it's a bit odd that you've seen all of Twin Peaks and four of his movies if you don't like his work. Why do you think he has a oedipus complex?

  • I feel that people need a chance and, I will admit, I am entertained by his films. About the oedipus thing, almost all of his movies have it in there in some form. Twin Peaks was littered with it, even in Fire Walk With Me and, not that I need to mention Blue Velvet.

  • Sorry if I was a bit harsh, I'm a bit grumpy when I'm tired.

You know, now that I think about it, I can actually kinda see what you mean...

But I think it's more of a theme he likes to visit, like with dreams/visions and mental illness.

  • oh man, I can't wait to see this.
