  • DEATH IS BAD

  • this is very true...quality=long lifetime of the products=poor for business! So bad quality= short lifetime for products=buy new product=good for business

  • A plug-in hybrid might be best for everyone, it allows commuters to make all or most of a commute on battery, has petrol for longer trips, and allows car makers to charge you money for the maintenance and break-down-repairs of the moving parts of the combustion part of the engine

I think Toyota's hybrid can be converted(hence expensive) to plug-in hybrid, but there no reason it should not be a Toyota made option

  • The other aspect is that the capitalist system feeds on growth and dependance/need. Growth cannot be sustained forever(unless you periodically destroy) and actually fulfilling a need(fixing the root cause) does not allow repeat demand(the way addiction does, be it cocaine or daily medication).

Theres no incentive to build quality(at least for the masses)

  • I'd love to read more on the electric car that got killed. I'm amazed how speedy they look in the video - do you have a good link to the spec etc?

  • Ive seen the movie but have no links.

A friend works for Environment Canada, they have a test electric car (production car modified), the test has been over since the late 90s but they still use it everyday and have not replaced the batteries, it works in winter, its range is limited (commuting not long trips)

  • After talking to him this is the essence of it:

Conversion and specialty(limited production) Ecar can potentially be viable option but much too costly because not mass produced.

A factory-made mass produced electric car would be as affordable as any ICE car and cost less in maintenance (but could not cross the continent on one charge)

  • I agree there are many items we know are crap but cant afford quality.

But there are also aspects that are not apparent:

If you have seen 'who killed the electric car?' one aspect you dont realize by looking at the car is that with no moving parts in the engine or need for lubricant change or maintenance, you save on maintenance, but GM figured it out (one of the reasons it did not simply cancel the car but made sure they were destroyed to leave no evidence)

  • Valves=Tubes. Sorry, just wanted to let the people on this side of the pond understand. Good vid!
