  • Ah man, I remember Prestel! I had an account with a division of it called "Micronet" IIRC. . There were even private viewdata bulletin boards such as the Gnome at Home.

    Those were the days!

  • Bloody hell, I remember Prestel, before teletext. It used to cost a penny per page to view!

  • @darrenpollard1st Some pages cost, most were free.

  • @darrenpollard1st CEEFAX had already launched in 1974, along with ORACLE. It wasn't until 17th March 1980 we were finally able to see the pages transmitted in-vision on BBC1 and then latterly on BBC2 permanently from 2nd June 1980.
