  • sorry buddy i have a 20v 1.8t with an e/i and no chip and im rnning 12psi so he didnt have a chip in it lol...and the guy in the mk4 doesnt know how to drive bc he should take u all day...

  • @RuDuBin sorry buddy you need to read the comments. I know they run 11 psi stock. I own a mk3 1.8t with a kinetic 50 trim kit on it. you arent schooling me. He had something going on that it was in a soft limp mode and he went from 20psi to 11ish. but he still thought he would win but I knew otherwise. Why do ppl gotta talk shit when they see there car lose! Do you know all the mods I had in that vr6?there is no stock turbo 1.8t running that low of boost that would pull my OLD vr6.

  • It all depends at what elevation you got that dyno at, at sea level you see the normal amount, but thousands of feet and you lose power. I got 169 avg on 4 runs at 500ft above sea level. I don't have cams or highflow cat, but do have 2.5 exhaust and CAI, this on a 12v mkIV. I would love to have 262 though.

  • @boxmafia321 the car had autotech 262s with valvesprings, mk4 headgasket, 2.5" borla catback with a highflow cat, abd big bore intake tube on a neuspeed intake, and Im sure there was a couple other things I forgot. And all in all I spent probably 5k on all the work and parts. it was a waste for 164hp! I loved it but I was still dissappointed if that makes sense? If I woulda had the 1.8t then that 5k woulda got me 300+ hp to the wheels! and going fast as cost effective as possible is my game:)

  • @boxmafia321 kinda lost on what you mean! this vr6 had 164hp and 157ft lbs of torque. that gti never dynoed but he would probably be around the same if not a lil more than the vr6 since it was running stock boost. if you were talking about my current mk3 1.8t I havent dynoed it yet but It should be pushing 200+ hp and 250+ ft lbs since its got almost everything but a bigger turbo!

  • @BTBAM13 Well I traded the vr for the 1.8t straight up! this car is cheaper to mod and has more power to begin with when I got it than my vr had. and now since Ive added and fixed some stuff it is faster than my vr would ever be without a turbo. Ive got a quaiffe in a 02a trans and 16s and second gear is still worthless! plus that car had 256k miles and this ones motor has 50k. vrs are sweet but if I ever get another one it will be a 24v or R32! best sound ever!

  • @steveogli yea man that is a sweet deal, r32s are dope as well, i got a mk2 gti with a vr from a 95 passat im doing a 3.0 bore, bigger pistons, valves and springs, rods etc. With a ported polished intake manifold, should run pretty hard after that. Im getting ready to do a serious vr-t cant wait

  • @vwkrazy easy to answer. His car had problems. The shop that worked on it was retarded. I think he was in some kind of limp mode?! He still thought his car was faster but it obviously was not.lol but both those cars are no more anyway

  • @steveogli any idea as to what software he was running. From most of the software I have seen they'll restrict your psi to 5lbs or less while in limp mode. Some systems require you to disconnect one of the battery cables for about 10 mins to let it reset. Others will just reset after turning the car off and back on. Sounds more like the shop messed something up. Hope he got something with less kinks to work out. Hopefully something not Japanese! Kraut-cans FTW!

  • @Krysist no I couldnt tell you what it was running.basically he got it back from the shop after whatever bs they did to it. Idk? he said it ran good at like 20psi for a while then it dropped to round 10 to 12(stock boost) He drives an unmodded 1.8t jetta now. it was his wifes car.lol

  • ive heard nothing but horror stories about bovs on vws forge bovs are made different somehow trust me my mk5 had both a forge bov and a hks bov and ran fine with forge not so with the hks... not sure how to describe it technically.

  • @FDNY101202 he was having issues thats why it was only running 10psi. The chip was not the problem. and there is nothing wrong with running a bov on a vw.you just have to have one that stays closed at idle. There are tons of ppl running bovs with no prob at all.Thats why I got a splitter valve so I can use it as both just for fun.

  • @steveogli ok well im thinking of like an hks bov or like a greddy i usually dont consider forge ones as bovs seeing as how they are made for vws and are pretty much diverter valves.

    hence why i got the splitter.It can be used as either. but the gti I raced had an hks and he had no prob with it.

  • The GIAC Chip claims it will give your 12V 12BHP but I dont believe it will. Steves right. If you want to put mods into a VW do a 1.8T. If you plain on doing a VR6 better have some big cash.

  • your wrong dumb ass.Noone makes a header for the vr6 that increases hp.and an intake will get you maybe 5hp if that.I have worked with the vr6 motor for yrs now boy.Its fools like you that do those mods to a vr6 and then bitch cuz you dynoed low with a obx header n 3inch intake!

    the vr6 has unequal intake runners so a exhaust manifold would have to be designed to compensate for the intake pulse.and guess what son there isnt one out there.its not worth the money.

  • I just finally got my trans built at APtuning.Great guys there. anyway it has a quaife and a vr6 ccm ring and pinion for taller gearing.I cant wait I just need some lil parts to swap to hydro clutch and I will be on the road for spring and making some new vids. 20lbs of boost and traction,Im hoping 2nd wont spin to high hell anymore.lol

  • it had an eip chip.However thats irrelevant to mk4s.Your car runs a different setup than my old car did.I dont know much about mk4s.I would talk to apr or unitronic they seem to be the mk4 guys

  • BOVs are bad for a 1.8t if they do not stay closed at idle. Some designs do like the hks ssq and the forge 004,but some dont.He runs an hks and it works fine and is loud as balls.lol

  • True with what you said, it is bad to run any BOV period on a car setup to run a Diverter Valve. Now the car's going to run rich in between shifts and throw a code.

    Also, how can the car be chipped and run only 10psi? Stock they should push 10-12psi. My Revo Stage 2 spiked 23 and held 20psi.

  • yup, its a closed loop system, so you need a diverter valve, not a BOV, Put a good cone filter setup on there and you'll be able to hear the "bov sound" quite well.

  • 10 psi with a reflash? thats just pointless. And whats with the frontmount? thats complete overkill for a k03 much less one thats running almost stock boost. 1.8t's with a proper reflash, bolt ons and exhaust have no problem taking vr6's.

  • he had some crap that was ghetto rigged at the shop he sent it to.i know that a 1.8t could easily kill my old car (the one in this video).especially since i traded it for 94 jetta with a reflextuning 1.8t swap kit.c2 chip,42#injectors,3in.turbo back mandrel bent,boost controller,forge DV,apr TIP.yeah this thing fights for 3rd gear traction.

    Throw 2grand at a 1.8 and it can move.
