Did you know, by law, trains are not allowed to go faster than 40 mph in the UK.
Thing is the government don't tell us that, they shove the blame to the TOCs. They privitised so the government would no longer take the blame, but shoved it to the TOCs instead.
That is my conspiracy theory.
This is a special exception because it is close to France.
that wrong there only allowed 40mph near stations down in devon the trains can get up to 90 mph on the torbay express hauled by king edward 1st a steam engine
Ok - on the ECML the max speed is 125 mph, although the Class 91's are capable of 140 mph. On the ECML in some stations the trains pass at up to 125 mph.
Sorry to spoil your theory but actually its called a windy day!!!!!! You can hear the wind on the mic even with the additional wind cutter foam fitted! You obviously havent seen 186mph trains doing 186mph before......
@paxmannut Cloud shadows can move almost as fast as cars. You can see the sky clouds. Pretty much western Europe has high speed trains including in UK, France, Germany, Belgium, and Spain. They run average between 200 and 300 kilometers per hour or between about 150 to 200 miles per hour. They take passengers daily. In France trains similar to this exist for the last 20 or 30 years, the TGV which runs in France an Belgium. See Wikipedia Encyclopedia.
@xTheAnnoyingDevilx Yeah, they are long trains now !

It's 125mph by law, due to signalling.
40 mph is just the max we can manage when it snows.
edj66 2 years ago
@edj66 HS1 has in-cab signalling and ATP and the line speed is 186mph for a 373, or 140 for a 395.
