the ram of gpu is importan, if iray use the total ram of gpu is possible crash 3dsmax.

for this motive the quadro and tesla have many ram. look like 3gb.

if icrease the resolution more ram is use from iray

Does it matter the ram even if i dont have the display pluged to the card?

The logic says if i will render the entire escene on the card then it will have to be uploaded to the memory and from there the GPU will run the entire escene... IF im right then it doesnt matter if i have pluged or not the display the escene will need the ram. But if im wrong... IM asking if without the Monitor the card will only use the Cores or still will need the Entire ram?

is about mentalray, have u experience that between wall to wall got black shadow line no matter how i try setting that noise shadow line wont go away how to solve?some how in iray not show at all nice n smooth masterpiece

iray is fast in some situation, but for example in interior one gpu is slow, in this case is better work with 4 or 8 gpu

example : interior 1 gpu need mant hour, in exterior is very fast also is present a material look like glass.

the some scene in exteriror with mental ray is more slow, but in the interior mental ray is more fast.

of course if you can buy 4 gpu the time is same and the quality is very superb.

the time depend, for the type of scene, iray in the exterior is very fast, in the interior is neccesary more time, in this case is better have more gpu, example 4 gpu for a fast render or more gpu for very fast render, a my friend use for the interior 8 gpu an create at 300DPI the A3Size in 30 minute.

wich is the diference between quadro and gtx, I mean why you choose a gtx ?

iray is very slow if you use the quadro 600 or quadro 2000 .

depend of many polygon is present in your scene, for milion of polygon is better the quadro.

for normal scene is better the gtx

yes support the activeshade, with a new relase of iray 2,0 aviable for the moment only for the subscripiont customer 3dsmax 2012, and in the future is possible insert in 3dsmax 2013 for all users
