  • looks like you had great fun doing that

  • I once spent 4 months designing a bolt

  • @ozwasp cool story! you should tell that at a party some time ;-)

  • Whats it like being a mechanical engineer im still young and I have my heart set on it so do you get to pay off all your bills and gas and groceries just fine and if so do you have any extra money for spending or saving?? Plz reply and nice contraption!

  • wow thats awesome.

im a student in my last year of high school doing ap level classes. i have to design a pendulum in the next two weeks. its like a competition(longest swing period highest grade) and im sure i could use some help.

  • that's awesome! how long did it take you to make it? i'm a teacher and i'm thinking of doing something similar with my class

  • Awesome that looks really cool! I wanna be a mechanical engineer and do you know those lego mindstorm things? It like you build your own robot then you program it on the computer. DO you think that would be worth it to buy? Because i was thinking baout getting it

  • hey can i how the details of tht prj i want to make it as my final yr prj

  • Thanks for such an awesome work.

I m a final yr mechanical student and would like to have your kind suggestions on the projects based on the following governing sectors:

    1.Automobiles/I.C engine

    2.Hydraulics/Pneaumatic

    3.Production Sector

    4..Non-Conventional Energy

  • how good do u need to be at math in mechanical engineering and what other skills do u need to have to be able to capable of getting you degree?

  • @TruAzn100 math is a huge part of it, you'll need all the math from algrebra, geometry, calc 1,2 and 3, differential equations, linear algebra and then some. you'll need a few chemistry and physics classes, as well as a dozen or more engineering classes. A good program should take 4 years at a minimum, but after the 4 years of hell, you should be pretty comfortable with your pay.

  • @dirtman711 what made you want to become a engineer? and what type of engineering are you in?

  • @dirtman711 4 years of hell? Studding is awesome! All the activities, party's and such. Sure it is allot of work, but I think that it is allot more fun then frustrating :)

  • @dirtman711

Hey uuuhh, im a student(12th grade) im goin for mechanical, what purpose does calculus and derivatives in particular have in this engineering? Cuz, well, it hard to describe the applications.

  • great design

  • if there was not restriction on the condition of the egg i would've used projectile motion.

  • @aman11022 haha yea, there were some teams that did, but their results were inconsistent. They used bubble wrap and hoped the egg didn't break. Our approach was spot-on consistent every time.

  • @dirtman711 Hey I'm in college right now taking mechanical engineering designing and drafting. Would you recommend continuing to university for a bachelor's in engineering? It would be 3 yrs college and 3 yrs Uni..

  • good stuff

  • Wow great design !,

Did you use more than only knex parts ?

    I see also mechano parts.

What kind of motor's en controls wher used ?

    Greetings from the netherlands

  • just wondering, wouldnt it be faster if you were to have the arm raise up as soon is it pass the bridge?

  • yea thats a great idea, but we didn't have a whole lot of time. thanks for the idea!

  • This is great. It shows how intelligence can be built-in, without requiring a separate CPU.

  • proof positive that k'nex are the most awesome toy ever.

  • you think if we steal some ideas off youtube..they will notice?

  • hahaha depends on what you're doing and who "they" is

  • knex is the best

  • nice lol

  • We used two micro-sensors, one touched the wall just before the vehicle stopped so it would not bounce away. When that one clicked, it shut off power to the wheels and directed the current to the arm motor. Then, we put a micro-sensor on that big yellow gear, and when it touched the frame, it shut off power to the arm and kicked on the lowering motor. It was really fun to work on.

  • i like fixing things, things with cogs and electricity,is this what i will expect from mechanical engineering,or do i need to rethink my course i chose

  • yea there are many more fields in engineering than just mechanical. just to name a few, there's mechanical, electrical, physical (physics), nuclear, energy, medical, biomedical, civil, and many more.

  • after it collided with the wall and stopped.. what caused the second mechanical action to commence? :o im curious, did you put a "click-in" sorta thing in front to trigger the action when in hits the wall?

  • great engineering

  • Mechanics of material

    mechine elements design

    mechanical design

those materials are required for any mechnical design project .

  • im only 12 and I alredy know that I wanna do mechanical engineering when I grow up

  • Would ye not have tried for more clearance under the bridge than that!!! Looked close!!!!

  • LOL ns done 5 stars

  • Geat job. I am in the engineering academy at my school, and we have projects very similar to ones like this. I use K'NEX for many of my projects. They are great for projects that involve mechanics.

  • fmc model corn cutter

  • Good job. Mechanical engineering is the way to go.

  • WOW!

  • nice :)
