Awesome video friend! If you're ever looking for a beautiful road tour for that 650 try the great lakes! Specifically the Lake Superior circle tour, I just posted a couple videos about it on my page!
@conleytgn Sorry for the late reply. I might make it up to Chicago later this year but I'm not sure if I'll get to the great lakes though. There are so many great roads to ride in both Canada and the U.S.
@easyg1409 Right you are friend There are a lot of great roads. I'm a Michigander though so I'm sort of partial to the Great Lakes. It's an amazing place, mostly overlooked by the rest of the country. Ride safe friend!
@yudomax Getting copyright free tracks has been a pain and I've had some problems with youtube. The samba track on this video is from The London School of Samba and it's a samba reggae beat from Salvador in Brasil. There's no track name unfortunately. I've now got my head round the copyright issue so my last video has a cleaner soundtrack. I hope you enjoy the videos
Graham, these videos are absolutely brilliant, I just bought a 650GS Dakar and these clips are an inspiration and a window into the possibilities that lay ahead. quick question, what kind of tires did you use ?
@wadeeb I use the best tire's I can get my hands on but there's often a limited selection particularly in South America. Given a choice for road I would use Metzeler Tourance and for dirt I would use Continental TKC80's. I hope that helps and I'm pleased the videos have offered some inspiration for you
@gadromano The windshield came with the bike but I think its an extended version To be fair I've got used to being buffeted by the wind so I'm probably not the best person to ask. For some reason it doesn't bother me so much.... the saddle on the other hand...
cool vid, this summer my dad and I are riding to labrador/newfoundland on our klr650's from michigan. 2 summers ago we road through canada and into alaska we wanted to ride the dempster highway, man, what a beautiful place.
The GS is good, its in storage in Uruguay. I'm heading back there at the end of April to continue north. Only ongoing problem is the waterpump and I need to replace the radiator fan motor. Its proven to be a very reliable bike.
Have you been through southern BC Canada? Indescribable, and vast. You can be in the snowy mountains, and a few hours later in the desert,or a rain forest.
Thnx. If you have the time take a look at my later videos from South America. I got the confidence to talk to camera more so there's a little more commentary.
Great travels! But good grief, in a situation like that where the road disappears & its too hard to keep lifting a bike, why don't you park it & take an easy hike? Also, in lifting a bike when one is exhausted or overwhelmed, it may be a good idea to use a stout branch as a lever, eh? Although in hindsight, a stout branch isn't always available or lacking saw or hatchet. Just a thought. I ride a sidehack due to WC disability, so I've had to think-ahead, anticipate problems & be resourceful.
Thankfully I survived to tell the tale... not something for an over-weight inexperienced rider to take on, but I´ve learnt.... I´ve made an attempt to shed a few pounds :-)
I drove from San Francisco down the central cost through big sur and down trough joshua tree and it really is an amazing place. I also hiked across the grand canyon and fuck me that was hard. Ended up camping down there near the river and hiked the rest of the way in the early morning to avoid the heat. Anyway. I would love to come next year and do it on a motorbike. How did you get your bike there may i ask?
Awesome video , good job .

Yep, what a place. The road in Utah cutting through the various National parks is still the best road of my entire trip.
