What a frickin' ROCK Song-----Bands today need to get back to the 70's ROCK----We had TULL/HEEP/SABBATH/ZEPPELIN/GFR/CACTUS/CAPTAIN BEYOND---NEED I SAY MORE!!! That was Music back then, and you know what,,,,,,STILL IS!!! HA! Mick
I was at Cobo Hall in Detroit Michigan with a friend on April 29th 1971. Frisbees were flying, bics were lit up everywhere, and the band was throwing free joints to the crowd! Security didn't mind all the drugs floating around...they just wanted to make sure all of that was contained within the concert area.
"Sin's a Good Man's Brother" was awesome! So was “I’m Your Captain” (Closer to Home). I will never forget that magical night!
I wore this album out...loved the real eyes on the cover! I remember pretending to be Mark Farner playing all those cool riffs from his Messenger when I was a liitle boy. Oh yeah, and I also doubled as Mel playing all those amazing lines. Every kid has his hero's...they were mine!
My dad was so draconian when I was a kid , he said " Son you only get to choose one rock band we will buy you albums of".. I choose GRF.. it was the only way I could give my dad the finger at 12 years old.
in Venezuela, this song, its opening guitar & the primeval scream of the singer, revealed to us a new, deeper, level or rock & roll, a magnificent but scary USA
they were grand funk railroad and the grand trunk railroad here in michigan was being wuss's about the band using the name like that, sooooo they took the "railroad" part off...what a joke they had to do that
they were first called grand funk railroad but after their manager terry knight left they werent allowed to use their full name anymore so they just took the railroad part out.
@Brian77TX great song...great band, the movie industry has to use great old songs from the past because 90% of todays stuff is total crap both whats written and who's writting it and Playing it!
Great album. Great music from just three guys, with little or no overdubbing.

Mel was the Master of the bass slide in his time.. and still few can hold a candle to his passion and creative innovation.
