Trying to remember was it the PTBM049COX in the Major 588 i used to do some interesting banding mods on those two, i have a few of the
crystal boards knocking about from the multimode radios that used to be secured from the side plate, also a bleep and several of the white wirewound adjustable resistors that you used to get in some of the radios.. the good old days
got to love the 27/81 badge... i used to love working on these boards the PTBM121D4X i did a mod on a mutlimode 2 building in a frequency counter read out. I do have paper work of mods i used to do back in those days and have some manuals knocking around if it would be helpful to scan them in for you. I have a Excaliber Mk2 radio that has been kept for nostalger of the old days, I do miss the old dxing days..
I always change R150 to eliminate the clippy FM Tx Audio. Standard it will be a 1.5k but canging it to a 4.7-5.6k will improve it no end. Nice video mate and the 1969s you supplied are doing the job very well
weazle what we use to do ,was goto balanced modulator ,find the audio input to it ,its via a electrolytic cap, replace cap with a tantulium cap of say 4.7uf,that also increases the ssb audio slightly to .....
i have worked with older cybernet boards many years ago.and that new jumbo board looks wonderful...i enjoy doing alot of ham mods to these chassis....my favourite

Changing the resistor is far more effective.
On a HY-GAIN 5 i did this mod on the PEP output went up to 20 watts and that was with just a standard mic - no power mic!
