The best guitar-player in the world played lefty, so why should we dismiss that as it doesnt affect your music, i am convinved it helps it, playing lefty, that is my personal experience and nobody can change that,
I'm a lefty too and I think being left handed is easier in some ways. I find it easier to "look into a mirror" when learning with my teacher. The only problem is that he often says "left" instead of "right" and vica versa :)
im left n ive been playin righty for 8 years, im good but turns out that my wrist cant keep up with the picking speed i want to use, so i decided to switch to lefty since my wrist is more comfortable to fast picking
my understanding (unless im mistaken - likley, since im usually wrong haha) is that Pauil mcartney played a normal right handed guitar upsidedown, so he had to rotate chord patterns 180 degrees
@MintPrincess11 I am buying my first guitar (electrick) And I am standing in front of quite big of a problem. In a time I was playing guitar hero, right-handed guitar felt well. But when I imagie my self playing, I feel that my left hand is better choice for struming. What shuld I buy in the end as a "lefty" ?
Well, it just depends on what kind of music you'll be playing. If it's more strumming like me then I'd stick with a lefty guitar. If it's more for picking, I'd play right-handed cause then my left can handle the fret changes. For me personally, I'm going to learn lefty even though I started learning right a few years ago. It makes sense if right handers play right because they strum with their right just as lefties should strum with their left.
@MintPrincess11 I have decided for left, even thoughits little bit more expensive. And what you've just said, fits. I like the sound of strumming single strings rather than all at once. and as for those techiques like hammer on and such, well I am confident that my right hand handles it. So thanks for confirmation, left hand it is.

But I also cannot get rid of feeling that I cannot ever land my guitar to anyone, and also learning it will be significantly harder, becose everyone playing right side. After all, even though holding strings also requires certain dexterity, strumming will be harder, and therefor I shuld go for left handed guitar...

@MrBigbossj14 Good, the one I picked so far just so happend to have maple neck, and the body is alder (even thoug I was kinda hoping for lime wood, becose it's our national tree). Dont know if there is significant quality difference in body wood, but hopefuly alder will do fine.

I tried to translate lime back in google, and it turns out that it means about 6 different expressions. (one of them is whitewash witch is really odd) most of them are just different names for lime fruit. And one of those limes, is masive deciduous tree that also guitars are made from.

@NosAway That´s not true =) I am righty and have been playing righty for almost 19 years. Most of the years as a John Lennon Look-a-like. Now I got a job as a McCartney clone, and I have tought myself to play the bass for the beatles tunes ....and other songs, all lefty =) It is not hard to do. once you get started. Try and search for a man named Ardy Sarraf of the fab four. He plays Paul too, and is also Righty and have been playing righty until he got the job as a McCartney clone.

@mrmariosonicbros125 I'm left-handed, but I play a "righty guitar". Played in school, in a band, at home. All are right guitars. Strumming is easy and chording. The hard part I see is the left and right coordination in playing melodies like, for example, the intro of "God Knows" (which has open e string played after each note), shreds, scaling, etc. That's why I always take role of a rhythm gtr. But other than that, it's nice.
the only guitars that left handed people can play are strats, tele, SG, Epiphone stuff, Kurt cobain jagstang, paul grey bass hofner violin bass, les paul, and all the right handed can have almost all guitars... but Ive always wanted to be left handed, i love kurt cobain...<3

@BR0WNY0DA you probably better on maneuvering on the neck with your right hand than your left. I'm mixed dominance (certain things I do right handed like writing, drawing, and drumming and left-handed like throwing a ball. And I'm left footed) and I play right handed, i can strum equally with both hands, but I move on the fretboard superfast with my left.

Restrung guitars played opposite handed usually need adjustments made to the bridge and all that. Make sure you know how to do this or have it done professionally, if that's your plan. There are plenty of left-handed guitars out now though. Back in Jimi Hendrix's day, left-handedness wasn't quite as well provided for.

You should try to get someone to re-string your guitar. I bought my first guitar left handed cause I'm left handed and it felt more comfortable to me. So since you're left handed, I think you should either re-string it or buy a left-handed guitar. Trust me on this, I know a friend of mine that's lefty and he bought a right handed guitar and has the same problem

@BR0WNY0DA you probably better on maneuvering on the neck with your right hand than your left. I'm mixed dominance (certain things I do right handed like writing, drawing, and drumming and left-handed like throwing a ball. And I'm left footed) and I play right handed, i can strum equally with both hands, but I move on the fretboard superfast with my left.

@840clerys check out rondomusic they're a company that makes knock off guitars of the big companies but they're legit and i've heard some good reviews about them. I'm a lefty and ima get something from them next payday lol.

I started righty, restrung to lefty, then brought a righty acoustic. It easier to strum on left, but i find fretting to be just the same on the right

Restrung guitars played opposite handed usually need adjustments made to the bridge and all that. Make sure you know how to do this or have it done professionally, if that's your plan. There are plenty of left-handed guitars out now though. Back in Jimi Hendrix's day, left-handedness wasn't quite as well provided for.

Ok im a lefty playin right hand for bout a month and 1/2 now, my fret hands not too bad of course but i cant alternate pick to save my life. Worried I made a bad decision. I strum WAY better with left hand. Anybody have this problem starting out?

You should try to get someone to re-string your guitar. I bought my first guitar left handed cause I'm left handed and it felt more comfortable to me. So since you're left handed, I think you should either re-string it or buy a left-handed guitar. Trust me on this, I know a friend of mine that's lefty and he bought a right handed guitar and has the same problem

tell me that..haha,cause i live in brazil and there are no left handed guitars,and yeah,if i find one is tooo much expensive or it sucks,certainly,i have an ibanez RG with floyd and 5 pickups....its hard being left handed,but,remember,hendrix never had a left handed guitar,and he was and is the best....

you can flip the strings and move the strap to make a lefty.
its not that hard, it's just annoying.
unfortunately you might have to change your bridge piece.
