Aww. Great vid! Got a budgie a few weeks ago, and we seemed to be progressing (she spent time on my shoulder the first day i had her)... but she's been avoiding me for days now. When I approach or try to pet her she flies away. I was away for a couple weeks for Christmas, and after Christmas we moved and someone dropped her cage - which I suspect is not helping her mood. She stares at nothing for hours (occasionally stares at her reflection), chirps to budgie vids on youtube. Suggestions?
@gumleyboy hi. i have one budgie called koko. he is a male, and i want to know does he need a girlfriend. he is 2 years with me, but i feel he is alone. can you please tell me how to pick a female, i dont want them to fight,
Just to let you know I have a video if me and that very budgie on my channel, it is amazing the friendship you can get from a wee budgie, it is also amazing the different wee personalities they have. I have had budgies since I was a teenager, most of my life.
At the start when Rocky was pecking at your lips, I have a budgie that does that, he also tries to eat food from my mouth when I am trying to eat, it is nice, I let him a couple of times, although I think that is probably unhygienic. After I eat crisps, he walks all over me eating up al the crumbs.
I wonder if you know why he does this, he also does his naughty business on my hand sometimes and then he jilts his head back and brings up food. I just let him have his fun and then wash my hands.
Blue might benefit from having a few perches of varied diameter, our keet Pinky used to have a spot hanging from the side of the cage like her and we found out its because her feet were tired from holding on to the same size perch all day. Great video, they look happy!
I used to have a canary like your parrot. We used to kiss each other ;)
Unfortunately he's gone now... :(
And I just got a parrot last week... She looks like a canary though (all yellow haha). She is quite quiet, she didnt want to eat anything at first! I'm afraid she might not be as tamed as the canary cause she used to live with other parrot before he passed away.
Im broken hearted i was cleaning my cage outside and when I left them alone to get some fresh air and some sunshine the neighbors cat knocked over the cage and my two busddies flew away! i saw one today in a 50ft tree but had no luck.
does it not hurt you when they peck ur fingers or their nails digging in to you?. I have 2 budgies believe it or not. and since I bought them 5 months ago, im so scared of trying to tame them or get them out the cage(as one budgie pecked my finger and it kinda hurt and its long nails scare me as i felt it sharp on my skin. I feel soooo cruel and guilty not letting them out the cage, ive actually advertised to sell them on gum tree website. :( :( any advice?????
i so much enjoy your love of budgies. they are so lovable. i too love my budgie.
when he talks and sings, it makes me feel so relaxed. and he has a great personality. he is funny. god bless all budgies. they are truly a fantastic friend to have. so much more than a "pet".
I have a male and female budgie. They groom each other, but they have never shown any interest in mating. The female especially. They do not have a nesting box, but others have told me that their budgies have mated and even laid eggswithout a nesting box.
Is this normal for budgies? Our male loves his mirror, toys and flying around.
He will sit on your finger and is very interractive with us. Loves to listen to us talk.
Hi, I have a two budgies that look exactly like yours, I just got them two days ago, and they are getting used to me quick, but they dont really eat, unless I literally stick the bowl in their face, do you have any suggestions?
@angel38325 Yes, just leave them alone for a few days. It can take a while for new budgies to get acquainted with their new surroundings, they are often nervous and won't do much of anything including eating until they get some confidence.
@gumleyboy I have a female budgie who shows very much aggression. when i put my hand in the cage and near her she tends to threaten me with loud chirping and tends to bite me when i get 2 close. how do i put an end to this? whe does that to the other male budgie.
@angel38325 i just bought two iswell. dont force them to eat, they will eat when there hungry, make sure its the right budgie seeds and not other bird food.my budgies love lettuce and millets too.
can u please tell me how i can tame my two budgies to come out of the cage and sit on my finger, without running away. I still have not allowed it to come out the cage, incase it doesnt go back in. my budgies are 1 female and 1 male, 13 weeks old now
I've really enjoyed watching your videos. I'm thinking of buying a budgie, should I get a male or a female? Also, I would really appreciate any advice you have for first time budgie owners. Anyway, thank you.
@ninjfromginj LOL you probably dont want me answering your question, but I think you should buy both, for company! I have a boy and a girl, they love the company! Also I think you should buy a birdbath, and offer vegetables to them as many times as possible because they cant have an all seed diet. Good luck!
awwh, rocky is so cute, iv'e jus got a new budgie, we call him Dave, he's been wiv us 3 day's, he goes on your finger, seems very tame, but he very quiet, so i put alot of budgie singin on for him, i really dont want him to b board, wot sort of toy's shud we get him .

I need help, i'm afraid that if i let out my budgies that then they won't want to be put back inside their cage. I just got them and I'm afraid of losing them by letting them out for the first time, i don't know what to do DDDD:>
@gumleyboy i just got two new budgies yesterdat these are my first budgies and they wont move from their perch to do anything except eat and theyre scared of me :( what should i do?
@MicroScope888 This is perfectly normal. They will soon get to accept their new surroundings and get noisey! Follow my budgie tips page to help you bond with them.
Do not worry, they will go back in the cage to get some food. And if you keep letting them out on a daily basis, they will return in, since they will know that you will let them out again tomorrow... just do not feed them outside the cage...
@taxicabify I would say wait at least 4-6 months before letting them out of their cage. After enough time, they will be a sense of security in their cage and always want to go back to it.
Everytime I am in the same room as my Budgies and I put this on, the music and the beggining calms them down and stop and listen to it. Even after the music when the man starts talking they like the sweet calm voice he's speaking. x
My budgie was killed by our cat yesterday. She was a beautiful and very sweet female. She was so sweet. Now her mate is very lonely, it's soo sad to see.
aw so cute, you really love them!ive got 11 budgies lovem all the youngest is 8wks n hes so funny in the cage dont think hes found his way yet blessim the eldest is a 4yr old female in he keeps going bk and forth to feed her,i think shes just using him n been lazy lol

I have a rescue bird who was badly treated as a youngster and he's never become tame though he's no longer frightened of me.
All my other birds (2 Senegals, a Meyers, a Sun Conure and a Blue Crowned Conure) are absurdly tame.
@Scallop10v3 I have two and they are free in the house. They have their favorite spots and so I put potted plants under their favorite places and no worries! I also have a cloth I can lay down on top of things. really, they are no work at all to keep up.
My budgie is 7 years old and the last few days he has only been sleeping and his balance has gotten worse and worse. Now he can't sit on his sticks in the cage without holding on with his peak on the metal bars. He is sitting on the floor in my living room now shaking and almost sleeping. He can barely walk or anything. His poop is pretty much only liquid.
I will take him to the vet in like 5 hours and they will probably put him to sleep :(
Aww arent they both so sweet! So sad to hear rocky is gone, what a beautiful bird he is. Bluey is very sweet too, wonder why they like to hang on the side of the cage? Our little varmint budgie morrie likes to sleep on the side of the cage, dont know why as it cant possibly be comfortable for her! Thanks for sharing such a lovely vide:)
I had a dream about my older siblings birds the other night and a few of them were budgies (2 passed away from age while one flew away) and I'm thinking I might get one.
helo iv got sum problems with my female budgie iv had dem for 2yhr and half nd she semms to be realy scared of me nd i need help with her any advice my male 1 died he was tame :( blue 1 like bluey it iz gunna turn 3years i cant bon with my budgie
@pat1981lux i trained my birds by getting them used to my hands in the cage without touching them or trying to go near them. just let them see i was not going to harm them. seemed to work for me xx
is it true that the female budgie are not freindly as the male are..? cause i rode many articles that say so....and they said that female cant talk...is it true....well i have a female and i want to know how should i treat her?
@TheHani88 dude i think its true cause i have 4 parak. and one of the females is very aggresive and yells alot, she is tame now but i think females are little bit more crazy lol
@TheHani88 I have 2 females and 2 males. Each bird has a distinct personality. My most tame bird happens to be a female, but I have heard that males are easier to tame and teach to talk. They recommend, if you want a talking parakeet, to have a single, male budgie.
Your budgies are very lovely, I can tell you have a lot of love and patience for them! I don't get to spend a lot of time with my budgies, so they don't know much besides stepping up, only to fly away as soon as possible.
your budgies are sooooooooo georgeous i have a green budgie exactly like your budgie Rocky and my budgie was named Lucky and i have a blue budgie named Bluebell and her nickname is Bluy i love that show
0:10-0:13 and 4:56 are my favorite parts..i can tell he loved you and respected you so much as his owner and father..you guys had a really strong bond and still do i bet :)
I have 2 budgies, One is a female named peep and me and my grandpa tried to tame her and we failed and the other one is my beautiful boy pete, he loves to talk and knows a lot of tricks!!! I'll try to put him on youtube and see XDDDDD
i love budgies!!!!!!! i had one for six years!!!! a beautiful girl called milly!!!!!! she died in 2007 in my hands :'( she died from a heart attack, we tried everything we cud 2 keep her alive bt nothing was good so we watched her took her last breathes and then buried her
I know How it feels I lost Logan this month. My first blue male Bluey I loved more than anything in the world and I still cannot listen to certain records without crying relating to when he died. I swear that bird knew when I needed him!. Kind Regards helen
Fantastic!. I have had budgies since 2000 and currently have 4 lovely ladies ( 3 green&one blue ) and one blue male . I would imagine your gentle voice and demeanor helps relax the birds. A pleasure to see ... regards Helen
What a beautiful bird! And look at your eyes shining, while he's on your hand.:)
I wish my parakeets were friendly like that, they have always acted afraid, ever since I brought them home. It makes me sad that their so scared of me.
Maybe they are scared of you because they don't really know you yet. It takes a lot of time and patience before they start acting friendly. And it is also easier to tame a bird when it is alone, than when they are many together...
I liked the video-remember I spent 30 years alongside the friends bringing the total number 7-I do not have any now-all I have mourned: / they were great companions left me-just a memory and grief remained :/tears my eyes have to go hi---------------and you sir are very kind and good man to know now
pleze go on my chanel and you see my picture thats a picture of my new budgies and leve a coment and think of a name for my budgies pleezzeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!
I must say this is quite adorable. I have seven, had said budgies :( I love them so much. My first bird Patrick was somewhat like this one, my others not as tame, sadly. This video was so calming! I love it :)
Yes, Bloominbilgerat, budgies do make the best pets. I've had dogs, cats, rats, mice, hamsters, lizards, snakes, chickens, toads, frogs, various insects and arachnids ad infinitum. None have given me the joy and fun that budgies hav, including other birds of the parrot order. Budgies rule!!
I enjoyed your video. I came across it after I looked at Charlie the Talking Budgie. He had quite a vocabulary. That's something special for a parakeet or budgie. Keep up the good work and all the love you share. Isn't it wonderful that such a tiny animal will actually have a relationship with a person, so much larger than he is?!! They all have such different personalities too!
i had a budige just like that, i had it for 7 years. in his last year it had a tumour and passed away. but i have a blue one now which lays an egg weekly, very strange. but i like the green species better because they're kind hearted.
Beautiful bird *-* Kisses Kisses sz

@MrPalbuk A new budgie will always be quiet until he is familiar with his new suroundings. After that, he can get very noisy indeed!

@gumleyboy how do i get my budgy do land on my hand like yours
MicroScope888 9 months ago
@MrPalbuk
I recommend what is regarded as a 'bird pacifier'. Basically just a piece that mounts onto the cage with strands of natural sisal fibers coming out the end that they can nibble on and even safely ingest. This prevents over-preening and ultimately feather loss.

My budgies are afraid of my hands. Do you have any advice to tell me what to do to achieve such a trust from your budgie?
pat1981lux 1 year ago
@pat1981lux i trained my birds by getting them used to my hands in the cage without touching them or trying to go near them. just let them see i was not going to harm them. seemed to work for me xx

did you hand feed this cute little birdy?

is it true that the female budgie are not freindly as the male are..? cause i rode many articles that say so....and they said that female cant talk...is it true....well i have a female and i want to know how should i treat her?
TheHani88 1 year ago
@TheHani88 in general males are easier to bond with, but some females can be tame but don't talk much. In any case, just enjoy your bird.
gumleyboy 1 year ago 5
@gumleyboy so right,my male budgie is more interactive then the female one!!!!!!!!!!!!
Theshofumiah1 7 months ago
@TheHani88 dude i think its true cause i have 4 parak. and one of the females is very aggresive and yells alot, she is tame now but i think females are little bit more crazy lol
mrstalkingcat147 1 year ago
@TheHani88 I have 2 females and 2 males. Each bird has a distinct personality. My most tame bird happens to be a female, but I have heard that males are easier to tame and teach to talk. They recommend, if you want a talking parakeet, to have a single, male budgie.
EA1088 1 year ago
@TheHani88 you right even the human female aren't that friendly LOL.

i have a female can she talk???
TheHani88 1 year ago
Your budgies are very lovely, I can tell you have a lot of love and patience for them! I don't get to spend a lot of time with my budgies, so they don't know much besides stepping up, only to fly away as soon as possible.

What a beautiful bird! And look at your eyes shining, while he's on your hand.:)
I wish my parakeets were friendly like that, they have always acted afraid, ever since I brought them home. It makes me sad that their so scared of me.
jandtsmom 2 years ago 14
Maybe they are scared of you because they don't really know you yet. It takes a lot of time and patience before they start acting friendly. And it is also easier to tame a bird when it is alone, than when they are many together...
TheRocketQueen90 2 years ago
@jandtsmom agreed.

Thats a Parakeet not a budgie...
You can tell because of its really dark lines around the back of his head/eyes.

budgies = best pets in the world
bloominbilgerat69 2 years ago 27
Yes, Bloominbilgerat, budgies do make the best pets. I've had dogs, cats, rats, mice, hamsters, lizards, snakes, chickens, toads, frogs, various insects and arachnids ad infinitum. None have given me the joy and fun that budgies hav, including other birds of the parrot order. Budgies rule!!
MassaJim 2 years ago 3
agreed. they're so easy to take care of.
also, they're so adorable and funny and can be so sweet! my little white budgie always likes to play fetch with me.
he only plays with me though...he's scared of everyone else/
HawraaLovesJB 2 years ago 2
I enjoyed your video. I came across it after I looked at Charlie the Talking Budgie. He had quite a vocabulary. That's something special for a parakeet or budgie. Keep up the good work and all the love you share. Isn't it wonderful that such a tiny animal will actually have a relationship with a person, so much larger than he is?!! They all have such different personalities too!
