I have a Mom and Dad. I grew up watching Male and Female relationships. My Dad made sure I had male friends because my family is predominantly female. He didn't let me play with barbies or let my sisters try to dress me up as a girl. The things my Dad taught me and showed me helped with me with my mindset. My Mom could of been the same way too but it feels better that another man is there with you and relate. Both were supportive.

My dad grew up in the 50s, and the first woman he knew who worked was his mother. He was unfamiliar with the concept of "housewife." His parents' gender roles were switched at a time when that was uncommon, but it never had a negative impact on him.

In California civil unions share every right a marriage couple does. To suggest that straight couples sharing the definition of civil union would somehow benefit gay families is non-sensical. I have an 18 yr old son. I was extremely active in his day-to-day care during my college years, where I minored in early childhood development. I'm not aware of any widely accepted social model which endorses a wholesale erasure of gender roles in rearing children. None. The attributes he's learned from his mother and I have always and continue to pay compliment to the unique differences between men and women and all for the better. He's far better adjusted than his mother or me. Praise God.

I know firsthand, the endorsement of your Dad by your Mother in itself is HUGE! It provides a sense of order, comfort, protection and hierarchy, and provides with clarity the role of a mother and a father (and you) in a healthy family structure. Actually, for some boys, it is psychologically okay to live as girls, and vice versa. In fact, it can be psychologically necessary for those individuals, who suffer horribly if they can't fulfill that psychological need. If you wanted to do something, and that something didn't involve causing harm to another, should you not have freedom of expression?
I accept standards that can be applied equally to all. Do unto others, for example. Happiness, freedom, equality, liberty and justice for all.

I have a Mom and Dad. I grew up watching Male and Female relationships. My Dad made sure I had male friends because my family is predominantly female. He didn't let me play with barbies or let my sisters try to dress me up as a girl. The things my Dad taught me and showed me helped with me with my mindset. My Mom could of been the same way too but it feels better that another man is there with you and relate. Both were supportive.

My dad grew up in the 50s, and the first woman he knew who worked was his mother. He was unfamiliar with the concept of "housewife." His parents' gender roles were switched at a time when that was uncommon, but it never had a negative impact on him.

actually, some kids come out better from single homes than they would have with both parents. What happens when the kid's parent is a drunk. What's gonna happen, the kid may grow up drinking. So what can the parent do, raise the child alone. There a bunch of kids that came out wonderful from single homes. They just aren't as famous as the kids who get into trouble and say "i never had a mom/dad to guide me." you don't see kids who say "i did great with 1 parent" because it's boring in news.

The health of the adopting parents must be good. The primary reason for this is that agencies consider that adopted children need an opportunity to be able to grow to maturity with both of their parents around, since the premature loss of a parent will be traumatic for any child. HIV / AIDS infection would be considered a high risk to longevity of both parents resulting in the likely denial of adoption.

Children can be born into a heterosexual family with undetected HIV/AIDS far more frequently than they can be adopted by homosexuals with or without HIV/AIDS for obvious reasons. Aside from that, this was not the point of the video. Besides, if gay marriage was legal in CA, and allowing adoption, there are many tests, some of which are medical tests that must be passed before a child can be awarded and that is still true for heterosexual couples as well.

single parents are not an ideal situation, law shouldn't be based on exceptions, that is like saying that its ok to drive drunk because you are only "slightly drunk"

just as courts can use fingerprints as evidence, Gods beautiful fingerprints are everywhere

Unfortunately for your neighbor (but fortunately for his dog), a dog does not possess the capability to enter into a legal contract. Ergo, it is 100% completely impossible to marry a dog or other animal, or a small child. Unless both parties can enter into the contract with full knowledge and understanding of the terminology and consequences, there can be no valid contract.

It is completely impossible for societies to enforce any sort of family structure on individuals short of, say, dragging out the offending individuals and stoning them to death. Whether soceity accepts them or not, people will still be gay or straight, you can't enforce your belief system on others and it's truly sad that you're even trying.
Heterosexual couples need tons of assistance in order to help build societies, even to raise families. You're ignoring what a society is.

Everyone has the right to believe what they want. My problem begins when people take beliefs with a foundation in religion and try to turn them into law. I don't share your religious beliefs, and until you can factually prove the existence of your god, I don't think it's fair for you to use your religious beliefs as a basis for anything legislative.
All couples need help raising children. It takes a village, my friend.
Have your beliefs about marriage, but let gays have theirs, too.
