I really prefer Ovi Maps on my phone, I'm using Nokia N8 and it works great even without any internet connections such as in the rural areas, I travel a lot, and it is a very useful GPS navigation... Android & Apple maps & navigation just not as good -Malaysia-
Theres problems with the google maps navigation becouse it dosent work in all countries. I have unlimited data roaming in my android phone but here in Finland the google navigation dosent work.
You need to re-do this comparison on the Nokia N8 with Latest Ovi maps beta.. it blows everything else away. and you can even record your own voice for directions!
@gusto1978 Hi gusto1978. I am considering the purchase of either a Blackberry or Nokia (smart) phone, and I am pretty keen on using the gps system for my daily walks around London UK. Would you choose the Nokia mapping system over the Blackberry's? I actually like the Nokia maps (ovi) as the Blackberry maps are often considered somewhat inaccurate by those using BB maps. Do you find your GPS very accurate in street to street walking? I would appreciate your views. Best wishes. Ebs
@Ebsteins31653 i personally would prefer the NOKIA but from what my friends have shown me the blackberry isnt bad at all eithr... but the Nokia does it for me. it's my kind of brand and the GPS takes about a minute to connect according to weather and it is very very accurate. i had never been let down by it but a Nokia 72 is a but better.
@karimbma4 Hi karimbma4. I am truly greatful for your kind advice as regards the Nokia v Blackberry. I have spent some time comparing both these products: Nokia N8 and Blackberry Torch (I am always in transit from location to location in London UK, hence my continued reference to the GPS street mapping system) and, all considered, I do find the Nokia Ovi GPS mapping system to my liking and siutable for my particular needs. Thank you so much for your kind advice. With my best wishes. Ebs.
@phazen93 Hi phazen93. Thanks for your comment. I actually found the Blackberry Maps rather innacurate, misleading and, all in all, totally disappointing! The accuracy of the Blackberry Maps was utterly ridiculous phazen93! Bearing no relation to my ACTUAL street location in London UK. On the other hand, the OVI maps from Nokia, by comparison, was brilliant! Really, really accurate in pedestrian mode, with a scteen clarity that, I found, put Blackberry rather to shame! I hope this helps. THX
@Ebsteins31653 ...Yes I agree Nokia Ovi maps are REALLY acurate .I haven't encountered any problem at all. I was amazed at one night whilst trying to figure out how I'm going to find my way out of certain city way past 3am on a cold and frozen night , I switched on my nokia 6710 ovi map and through tiny streets i was directed left, right , ahead I was driven on the highway. A big relief.
@nikbunnymen I appreciate your kind comment nikbunnymen. Indeed, so inaccurate was my Blackberry phone 'maps', that I very quickly took it back to the store and exchanged it for a Nokia E75. I too was caught out by my Blackberry handset whilst planning a route out of a certain city too and some 'unGodly hour', only to very quickly find that the Blackberry system was more of a hindrance to me! My best wishes nikbunnymen, and I hope Santa was good to you this Xmas. take care. Ebs
pretty bad that you picked the n72 for this. there are phones that are faster than that, but however, it still did a good job (as expected from nokia)
@bkunal88 u can use google map on symbian phone.but i prefer the ovi maps.it is fully free & u can navigate offline without cost..and it is much more accurate.google maps need constant internet connection nd much more costly!!
Seriously, what the hell kind of review is this? Sit down and do a proper review, not this badly filmed badly framed stuff. Clearly most or all of these 'mobile phone review' sites do it based on some revenue stream from the companies involved, and watching you guys make it up as you go along is a waste of everybody's time.
i can't connect to the satellite. WHY ? i stayed 2 times in the park where there is clear view to the sky and the gps doesnt works ?Should i change something in the options ? I use ''map version 0.1.23.112 '' is it a problem ?If there is a new version could someone to send me a link ?
This guys never tried to use Google Navigation. They should press the arrow button to get actual navigation view, instead they look at some point on the road. Very incompetent comparison.
@jitend1234 There will still be data charges for searching, logging into your OVI maps account for synchronization or if you have Network Based ticked under Positioning Methods so best get a data plan. The navigation part is free from NOKIA now otherwise it just wouldn’t work like before.
Awesome video! I've also been to San Francisco and Sausalito, as well as LA, just last year during my spring break! I just think that California is one of the best states that I've ever been to! I might consider it as a place I want to live (if I can afford it), when I start to live on my own in the real world. Man, I wish I had your guy's job!
i need to update my N900 with the full free version of Ovi maps. Great vid! I too am a native Bay Area resident. Pretty cool to see some ofl the sites with you guys. LOL!

Ovi Maps: The only part where Nokia really shine with everybody way back playing catch up.
I just don't get it why other cellphones big names like Samsung or Apple can't get it right!
Ovi maps:
- Free complete map downloads with regular updates!
- Offline navigation, even if you don't have a cellular coverage at all!
- Nice voice guiding.
I wish I could get Ovi maps on Android devices ... It's a shame I can't

gigabowser999 6 months ago
for world travelers nokia maps is the only option.
unless you like to roam at high costs.
nokia has the only gpsmaps that can navigate offline without any costs
and go worldwide wherever you go for free at all times,
all others let you pay for internet roaming costs.
but if you just stay in your country with your local internetplan for your mobil ,
than it doesn't matter,
but the problem starts when you go out of your country..->roaming!!
so i would say take a nokia if you go around the world
clubfun12 7 months ago
Google maps is better , the map is a lot more detailed than OVI maps , at least for my country ...
