@slipknot0227 I don't really feel like Clementine and Joel were that different actually. For Clem, Joel probably balanced her out and made her feel unique, but for Joel it was more like Clem was the representation of who he wanted to be. He had a lot of wild creativity that he kept shut up in a notebook and there was always a lot more on his mind than what he'd actually say out loud. Clem was pretty much everything he thought inside his head.

I really like that, because it's honest. The scriptwriter made it specifically because he's had so many bad experiences and it's all because of stupid romantic movies that gave him idiotic ideas. There's an alternate, more depressing ending....the scriptwriter wanted it because it was more honest, while the director chose this ending because it was more upbeat....I like both =)

He didn't know she'd be there. It's like the back of his mind held on to the word Montauk for some reason. People do that with dreams too. For example they won't remember the dream they had, but might remember the last thing that was said or something. Idk if that makes sense or not but the movie's still great and so is the song.
