  • what pedal r u using btw? love the dist and wah. you really match the sounds perfect to the songs your playing too. props. great demo.

  • @jgk381 the dirty tone is an Ibanez TS-9 but the really thick, overdriven distortion is the Orange amp itself. Thank you for appreciating the effort!

  • i don't like the tone, but I don't know if it's because of guitarist or guitar.

    Product Description

    Fender Road Worn

A veritable racecar of a bass, the Jazz Bass® guitar was born in the ’60s and became the favorite of players who put as many miles on the instrument as they did on their tour buses. The more it was used (and abused), the more it growled back and became even more comfortable. Fender’s Road Worn® ’60s Jazz Bass guitar ...

  • how much was it?

    and nice review bro!! :D

  • @javiXYX I paid $700, but it's sold for more nowadays

  • @ia5662 thanks, i know but, has it changed? or is it exact the same?

if it´s the same, does it worth the price? because i think i´m buying this guitar next week but i´m not sure. Shall you recomend me a guitar for less than 1000 dollars, that´s my budget. Thanks for your attention! ^^

  • @javiXYX it retails now for $899 and I think even with a beat up finish, it's still nitro which to me is preferable in resonance and sound. So yeah, it's worth it, but in the end you'll have to determine that for yourself once you plug it in and play it. Try a few first!

  • @ia5662 great playing, this is the exact sound I'm looking for, but cant afford the roadword, do you think a standard mim strat w/ tex mex pups can sound the same as yours?

  • @jgk381 yes it would be comparable. I think the new Mexican Fenders are the best they've ever been and highest quality.

  • @MyHeaddyX its called relic it is suppost to look old and used

  • why does the guitar looks like the lack is broken?

  • I suggest for a rhcp tone to use seymour duncan ssl-1 pickups; thats the sound you want! John uses those pickups. Nice guitar aswell!

  • @MrNirvanerd I have read that somewhere, supposedly John didn't even know the pickups had been replaced. They sure sound damn good for being replicas.

  • @ia5662 By the way, is that Jeff Buckley in the background? (to the right)

  • @MrNirvanerd no it's actually Steve Winwood with a fake mustache I put on him. It's the Higher Love record, just a joke really, but I do love his hits.

  • 01:38 whats that song?

  • @gurraSkillzz Jimi Hendrix "Little Wing" played terribly by me...

  • And can you do a vid of you pedal board? thanks man, good videos

  • Great demo! Wich pickup setting were you on at the beginning?

  • @heidemannish NECK

  • At around 6:15, what song is that?

  • @TheDaneTuts Jimi Hendrix - "Voodoo Child"

  • How are the frets on this?

  • @gmeyer9904 pretty big, i think their medium jumbos

  • man, i just found the perfect review that i was looking for!

i'm in doubt about buying a road worn, or an american standard strat.

the first one is mexican, and the second one is american.

i'm a really big fan of the Chili Peppers, and john's too.

    Could you give an advice?

  • @MrGtig I would def. go with this guitar if you like John, unless you wanna shell out around $60,000 for a true 62' Stratocaster in vintage form, then this still looks like it but costs pennies comparably. The mexican quality of the Road Worn is really outstanding when compared to the American. Also, John uses Seymour Duncan Antiquity pickups I believe, so pop those in and you'll have his sound so to speak, minus his hands.

  • @ia5662 thanks man! and keep with your reviews, they're really great!

  • @ia5662 and, what do you think: a maple freatboard or a rosewood freatboard?

  • @MrGtig I honestly think you should go with what you like, because honestly if you love John F. he uses both a 57 maple style and also the 62 with rosewood. From what I've seen he used the rosewood the most though.

  • @MrGtig As a matter of fact, this guitar even has some of the same scratches and wear that John's '62 strat has.

  • damn i need hoter pickups for my american standard!

  • You play nice man! , it is a very good example! . very nice video! . Those songs are one of my favorites, specially litlle wing, the police and the top gun theme!, im practicing little wings right now, you should uoload a video lessoning little wing, the version of stevie ray vaughan! is one of the best, because have many nice solos !! please man dont forget it! ... Nice player all can i say

  • bro great demo! how long you been playing?

  • @feedback5010 thanks bud, 16 years to be exact. I should be better!

  • hey nice review

    i've got a few questions

is the trem staying in tune(even in hendrix and srv style of using)?

can you get a bride blues tone with these pickups?

and how does the guitar sound accustic?

did you change anything on the guitar? (if yes: what has to be changed?)

  • @assassin0402 1. trem - it all depends on your setup. Stevie and Jimi really knew how to get the most out of their trems. If you just simply slap a new set of strings on, it holds pretty well, but constant dive-bombing will knock it out like any other Strat. 2. blues - def. can get blues tones, although I'd swap them for Texas Specials, the Tex Mex are a little more tame 3. acoustic- it sounds resonant to my ear 3. I only installed a ProLine volume pot and wired the bridge pickup to the tone pot

  • btw, are you using 009 gauge strngs?

  • @zimonslot 10 gauge, not 9's.

  • I hate position 2 and 4 so much

  • @zimonslot why? they are use full for funky stuff,,,, thats something you cant get with a les paul or somthing like that

  • 7:18 Song please???? :)

  • @SpykerZaggato84 "Amber" from 311, great song check it out

  • Ohhhh men .... fap fap fap

  • STEVE WINDWOOD IS WATCHING YOU!!!!

  • @judoman5899 first one to notice! props go to you my friend, he's like our mascot downstairs in the rock room. great album though for sure. I should have done some Stratty riffs from "Higher Love" it's got loads!

  • @ia5662 ya i love steve winwood.... i have listen to him since i was a kid after my dad introduced me to him in...ever since then he has been a big influence

  • Some very beautiful playind dude.

  • Hey dude, feel lucky to own such great guitar bro tell me, how this guitar sound with regular amp like line 6 ?

  • @Andromelian although I don't own one, I think if you're starting out or a bedroom player the Line 6 amps sound pretty darn good and have a nice effects array that you can dial in. You could do worse that's for sure. Obviously, if you play good, any amp will sound good, it's just tastes and components once you get into the higher range in amplifiers.

  • can you give the amp settings ?

  • Hate the road worn ... you could just buy a new guitar and make her this way in time ...

  • @BassOutcast Not true. Most guitars have a polythene finish on the body meaning it won't so much as scratch the wood and will pretty much look the same in 20 years.

  • @BassOutcast

Yeah...20 years on a barstool in smokey bars right?...and by the way...being an accountant on the side..

Tell me ...what was the first thing you did with a pair of brand new ..dark..starched jeans??

I wont lie...I washed them 200 times and put so much undeserved wear on them ..including rips..as possible...and you know what?....they felt GREAT!! and they looked GREAT...so whats the difference?..

Have you picked up one of these next to a new Strat?

    No comparison!

  • your tone is king but i actually dont like the way you play ;)

    But your tone is KING!

  • @henrithefreak47 haha thanks?!!

  • yeah man rock on!!

  • Im tossing up between this, highway1 or USA standard....all have something I want, it's to hard to decide!

  • @MrSeantoohey jazzmaster all the way

  • what pedals did you use for the overdrive?\

  • @laxbro518 Ibanez TS-9 and also the Orange head itself

  • can you tell me what's the diffrence between this guitar and a normal (similar) fender strat?

  • @Mellvin0411 I assume you mean a Standard Strat that's also made in Mexico. The differences #1 are the nitro finish and the visible "wear" that is done. This costs a lot of money and is normally a custom shop style finish. IMO this finish is the best, feeling wise and looks wise too. The back of the neck is completely worn down, so your hand doesn't stick to the finish. The pickups are Tex-Mex and aren't the usual generic ones you find on a standard model. Tuners are vintage, easier to use IMO.

  • What was that Chili Peppers song you played first?

  • @aikeeramz Snow

  • Go easy on the drive. It's a little too "bee-in-a-jar" -like. Otherwise, really great demo! I'm digging those guitars more and more, thanks to you! ;)

  • @ia5662 Hello there. Can you tell me what kind a pedal are you using in this video cuz i'm very curious, can u tell me ? Nice playing btw P.S. i love john frusciante and Jonh mayer! I don't know why but I don't care :D

  • great review/demo with awesome playing of all those awesome typical strat sounding songs! Makes me wanna buy it!

  • @GuitarAriaFreak1010 thank you!

  • Super informative and enjoyable to watch! Editing, believe the hype!!

  • I want one :(

  • Are those vintage tuners and do they lock?

  • @2PaperTigers they are vintage tuners and they do NOT lock.

  • OH MAN I LOVE THAT GUITAR

  • whats the song @ 2:38?

  • @HungOnTheWall that's just something I made up on the spot, then it goes right into Sultans of Swing

  • @ia5662 ok thanks. one more thing though, about how much does one of these weigh? the latest guitar i bought weighed WAY to much and i cant really bring it everywhere to gig with.

  • @HungOnTheWall no this is a nice weight all around, not too heavy at all

  • Nice playing and great review! You nailed Vodoo Child and Message In A Bottle, But i disliked you Little Wing, sounded too fast and mechanical. D: I know the aim of the video wasn't covers, but still, i though ti should point the ups and downs :D

  • @MrLino yeah I blazed through all those riffs and had to edit it down it took so long. I have a habit of rushing stuff when I get on camera, check out some of my covers though

  • I was looking at the Road worn tele in a guitar shop here in London the other day but just couldnt get my head around the neck profile it really wasnt for me...What about this? is it more of a traditional modern strat profile or a 50's gibo baseball bat? Whats the deal on that? Is it a fat neck or nice and thin?

Was especially diggin the snow riff at the start man!

  • @TheManT No no, def. not a fat neck by any means. 60's automatically implies that the neck will always be thinner, even for Gibson's. That era players just got into thinner necks I suppose. They are always my favorite, I hate 50's necks personally. It's like holding a baseball bat. This strat's neck isn't "very" thin, but it's still pretty thin in my opinion, probably the thinnest in my collection. I'd call it a slimmer C shape neck.

  • ..Wish I could play like you :/

  • Are you Jim Sturgess with a permanent american accent? :)

    You sound exactly like him.

  • @Nermin91 haha nice, I wish.

  • @ia5662 Seriously, compare it :D

nice review though, very helpful. - thanks..

  • I LIKE YOUR PLAYING SOUNDS GREAT

  • what are the tone settings on your amp???

    great review by the way

  • @RHCPmikeRHCP I keep the bass up all the way most times, mids to 11 o clock and trebles at about 3 o clock. The clean is bass heavy as well but the treble is cranked to get the spank.

  • @ia5662

    tanks a million

  • What did you play at 7:45 ?

  • @2351johnny that would be Dick Dale's "Miserlou", classic surf instrumental...

  • Hi thanks! Nice guitar :D

    06:10 sounds cool !

  • 02:20 this is hendrix, isn't it? but i don't remember the name of the song.

  • @ToXin88 no, it's just something I came up with. I guess it might sound a little like "Dolly Dagger", but I just came up with it on the spot.

  • try plucking the strings with your heart not your head, and try boosting your clean signal for the chilis stuff especially!

  • @DuffCowboy I haven't gotten around to making high quality recordings, but I can assure you when the amp is cranked clean and you stand right in front of it, the cleans are awesome. The pickups are slightly weaker than what I'd like as well, but I deal. Essentially, the mic on my Flip Mino really sucks for capturing the real element. I need to record the audio separate next time.

  • What did you use to record this? Awesome sound.

  • @LoveAntiHero1 a Flip Mino HD recorder

  • That sounds so wimpy...you should turn up the volume on the amp,

    and get some balls ya!

  • @jmibelltone yeah it's recorded on a Flip Mino, trust me this video doesn't do the Orange tone justice, it def has huge balls. I just did this review on a whim, so I'm not one of those professional reviewers with room mics and such.

  • @jmibelltone yes dude, your vids are much better! (shut up!)

  • Isn't it too expensive for mexican strat? What do you think about prize? I love relic guitars and I would prefer this mexican more than for example highway one but I'm wondering that I'm not pay too lot for mexican strat...

  • @bodzi0x Well I got a nice deal on this and ended up snagging it for $700, so it wasn't too expensive. In some ways I do think it's a little overpriced, but the nitro finish and weathering is a pretty custom looking job, so the price definitely includes that. I think with the pickups and quality make up for it.

  • Hey i'm looking to buy a fender and i've tried a couple american strats and teles but the neck just doesn't seem right. Maybe it's because a used to play a vintage guitar, so my question is how does the neck feel ?? Cause I'd consider buying this over an american if the neck were great. Thx!

  • @charles4hl neck is pretty fast, not like a Jackson or something, but def. a thinner variety for Fender. Plus the finish is worn on the back purposefully so it plays even quicker because of it. This def. has the vintage shape I believe, just larger frets to make it more modern.

  • @ia5662 thanks for answering, i'm def. going to try one this week and if it feels good I'll buy it, cause the actual american line has really disappointed me. Btw really good review and good playing ! That orange amp looks and sounds niiiice!

  • @Flushieez thank you!

  • This is one of the best reviews I've seen for this guitar, and one of the better guitar reviews in general that I've come across. It's awesome how you went through so many different sounds/tones quickly, and you didn't spend a ton of time talking. Good editing as well. And excellent playing. Gave me a perfect idea of what this guitar can do in a real world way (more so than any of the "pro" videos I've seen of it). Thanks!

  • @paloverdeband thanks very much, that's exactly what I try to do with all my reviews. I'm really glad it comes across the way you say, and honestly, I pretty much showed what any Strat can do. Of course there are certain styles that sound better on them and I focus more on those and the pickups on the Road Worn are pretty nice.

  • trying playing with a little more touch, your too agressive which makes for a not so good tone/sound. But other than that, very nice guitar and demo! keep up the good work!

  • u was playin Cant stop on neck ? any effect is on?

  • @Qoooba95 no, use the bridge pickup most definitely and no effect just a little distortion/overdrive.

  • Outstanding demo -- great playing!

  • woowowowow fucking nice guitar and good playing.

  • what speaker is that, the marshall?

  • @LosLurvos Marshall 1960A cab

  • what pickups are better ? 69 oder texmex?

the best review i´ve ever seen!! MORE!!!

  • @lennarddudelu thank you, glad the review was good. I honestly would assume the 69's to be far superior, especially because Abigail Ybarra (however you spell it) still winds those pickups. She's like a living legend in the pickup manufacturing world and has been around since the Leo Fender days. So yeah, I'd go with e 69's, even though the Tex-Mex's aren't a bad upgrade either.

  • its not that they preferred the strat without the backplate, its just that its easier to change strings with it off and they are constantly changing strings... but it does look better without it :)

and what song were you playing in the beginning?

  • @MrGuitarboy97 I read an article or watched a review where Eric Johnson literally said everything down to removing the plastic cover on the back improves body resonance. I'll trust him, he's an absolute tone freak and his signature model is flawless. No doubt it helps with re-stringing as well.

That first song is "Snow" by Red Hot Chili Peppers

  • @ia5662 Cool, Thanks!

  • Thank you so much!

  • dude amazing tone and amazing guitar .

  • hey whats the song at 7:20?

  • @christos31669 that would be "Amber" by 311

  • @ia5662 thanks man

  • Ahhhhh....yea mine has the truss adjustment at the other end..I may pick up a newer one, thanks!

  • I just got the white model of this guitar...and I tried to flatten the neck a tad because the action was horrible...but when I flattened it out, the 1 and 2 string buzz out after the 12th fret...garbage...I don't mind a "higher" action but I have to play it extremely high for it not to buzz. Any suggestions? Is this a normal thing for this model? Or should I grab a new neck?

  • @Tommyhawk1818 mine isn't quite that bad actually, but it does feature a more vintage fret radius. The newer Road Worns offer a much flatter radius with the truss rod access at the headstock. So if you are really having problems, you could definitely replace the neck with one of the newer road worns and still have it match cosmetically.

  • is it american or mexican?

  • @CptCippe mexican

  • Nice review :D

  • I just bought this yesterday. and you literally play the exact kind of music i do lol. Peppers and Jimi are my favorites

  • what pedal are you using for amber? the 311 song..

  • @seanymikes EHX Q-Tron

  • whats the song at 2:15

  • @STXUSA that's actually some original riff I just came up with on the spot.

  • @ia5662 oh ok thanks!

  • voodoo child was incredible!

  • I saw one of these at a guitar store and plugged it into one of those vintage Champ amps (or whatever they're called). It's honestly one of the best guitars I've ever played--I had trouble putting it back on the rack because I wanted to keep playing it. The "aging" effects give it a very nice sound and feel. The only thing holding me back is the price tag--at least for now.

  • @allamericandude15 understandable man, it's a fantastic sounding guitar. I love the aged look, some people hate on it, but the bottom line is the sound and it sounds awesome. I really like the pickups and quite honestly, it is a little overpriced for a Mexican guitar, but the craftsmanship is very good. I'd wait around for a deal, I know GC was just doing $100 off. I got a great deal, $740 and change, which to me was a very fair price.

  • for the song Amber what effects did you use that was sick as all hell

  • @footer317 EHX Q-Tron with a touch of delay, it will sound just like it.

  • @ia5662 thanks

  • i loved sultans of swing

  • the tone at 4:12 reminds me of Iggy Pops Passenger

  • what wah?

  • @riko879 535Q

  • tab player

  • hello dude what distorsion pedals are you using? and what pedals are that the police tone?

  • @dnnysrock I mention what distortions I use in the video, the softer distortion is a Ibanez TS-9 and the heavy stuff is straight from the Orange. The Police tone comes from a delay, compressor, overdrive, and chorus.

  • @ia5662 sorry.. how is the neck on this strat same as standar ones?

or is a little easier to reach? for example playing chords hendrix style ? with the thum in the low e

  • @dnnysrock I don't have a std so I don't know, but I'd assume they are pretty close, I play stuff with my thumb over the top of the fretboard all the time so I'm sure you'd be fine with the Hendrix-y riffage. It's a really nice guitar, bottom line. I think most of the criticism comes from people not wanting to buy a guitar that looks beat up. It's actually not too beat looking from far away and it has a vintage appeal. I dig it

  • @ia5662 yes i know that thats the whole point of road worn . great guitar

  • awesome review...did ya have to get used to the 7.5 inch neck or did ya even notice a difference ?

  • @KingKramerTV I honestly don't really know if I could tell a difference, but I do own an American Series with a modern 9.5. I can definitely tell the difference in bending notes, it's easier on the Am, but I prefer playing the Road Worn for some reason, might be the rosewood board. It does tend to fret out a bit, but I've worked with my saddles to reduce that. Still a great guitar, it definitely plays just like a vintage one would.

  • it sounds soo nice. The amp did the job well.Great playing man!!hey what do you think about the standard MIM strat as compared to this one...I m gettining one of those soon so pleae help>>thanks

  • @Manaslash honestly it's been awhile since I've played one, but I did get a chance to rock an updated one and I must say, the play much better than the 90's ones. The fretboard edges felt rolled like the AM series and all around, I felt a quality guitar. I would say the only real difference is the finish, headstock logo, tuners and pickups. Everything else on the MIM standard are pretty much the same as the Road Worn. The neck may be different, but I say buy it, it's a good value.

  • @Manaslash this guitar is also a mim the road worn

  • i have been wanting to buy a good strat for quite a while, and i love the way this guitar looks. however, i dont really have that much experience with its feel. fresh out of the box, how is it? is the action pretty good? does it come untuned easily? what would you rate it overall on a scale of 1-10?

i know thats a lot of questions, sorry about that. but if you could get back to me, that would be overly awesome. thanks!

  • @ALKOpadman Out of the box, it literally feels like an old glove. I had to do very little to intonate mine and got it from a typical guitar shop. The action is great and the pickups are sweet. The tuners are Fender's vintage style ones which I think stay in tune great, just stretch your strings every time you put a new set on. I'd rate this guitar a 9/10, the finish is nitro which is awesome and I like the aged mint pickguard a lot.

  • @ia5662 awesome thanks for the feedback. also, why not a 10/10? if you dont mind me askin.

  • @ALKOpadman no problem, my perfect 10 Strat has a bridge pickup wired to the tone control and that mod I had to make myself. So that's what gave it a 9 for me, that, and it sometimes can fret out in the higher registers, but I fixed it for the most part in the saddles.

  • yikes dude TAKE YOUR TIME ON LITTLE WING. nice guitar tho

  • wow, i'm looking into getting the 50's version because i also like frusciante's guitar, but i kinda liked the 50's neck better. Anyway, this video was a pretty great demo because you seem to like a lot of the same music i like (ie: rhcp/ weezer), thanks and great playing!

  • Is it MIM or MIA?

  • @aryasridhar MIM

  • ohh one more thing what is the pedal you use for voodoo child?

  • @oriana310 it's a Dunlop 535Q
