What's striking about this broadcast is how absolutely brutal Ken Dryden is as a color commentator. He has no feel for how well a bunch of U.S. college kids performed in frustrating the Soviets by not allowing them to get into a rhythm. Dryden's even talking over Eruzione's goal with some lame comment. It really takes away from the broadcast in what otherwise is arguably one of the greatest single sports event in history.
... why does Craig have a roll of tape dangling from his stick? I don't think I've ever seen that before. These days you're not even allowed to have black tape on your knob.

A very BIG THANK YOU for posting one of the greatest moments in not only hockey history but also sports history. I am a very proud Canadian, and I can truly understand what the 1980 American hockey team's victory over the Soviet Union because we Canadians experience that euphoria back in 1972 when Canadian defeated the Russians in the 8-game Summit Series. Mike Eruzione was the American version of not only Phil Esposito as captain but also Paul Henderson as he scored the winner.
This is the first time Ive ever seen this game....Being Canadian I can understand what Henderson's heroics meant in 1972, and Crosby's last February in Vancouver ..But this was a huge upset.....A bunch of kids who were tutored by a hard-nosed head coach (whose borderline psychological tactics made him as many enemies as friends). A powerhouse Soviet team...Cold War tension the reality of the day ....Mike Eruzione was the American Henderson. This was a miracle..

Вот это хоккей. Эх жаль наши проиграли но достойно играли, просто нет равных, стоили друг друга.
